    I have to double tongue 16th notes at 170 for a piece right now and I can only double tongue at about 115, this didn't help

    Nice breakdown of the double tongue and how to develop it! You have a very fast double tongue and I was wondering, is this your multiple tongue of choice, or is it doodle? Or either/or? Because of your social media videos, I consider you more of a jazz/commercial trombonist, so would imagine you prefer a smoother multiple tongue approach

      I single tongue everything using the syllable Dah. One of my mentors Scott Kyle has the fastest single tongue in the world. We did a bone masters together on this. Check out what he has to say, it’s eye opening!

      @@PaulTheTrombonist Thanks, I'm checking it out now. So you are demonstrating the double tongue on this video, but on a gig or recording, would resort to single tonguing lines at fast tempos?

    • @PaulTheTrombonist
      @PaulTheTrombonist  2 года назад +1

      @@jazzbonept ya single tonguing on dah is what I do 99 percent of the time, even when I’m playing through a bob mchesney exercise , I do it single tongue. I recently posted a video of me doing one of the exercises single tongued

      @@PaulTheTrombonist That's insane to someone with a slow double tongue like myself. I'll have to check out the vid. Also, I know Scott from a couple of videos where he's testing out some different horns. What a beast!

    I can do ta. I can do ka. But when I switch between them, it sounds muddy, even when I play both short. What do I do?

    Does the back end of the tongue still need to hit the front upper teeth? Or does it his the roof of your mouth?

    • @tylercorl
      @tylercorl 5 лет назад +1

      Kenny Miller I’m not proficient in this at all, so take this will a grain of salt, but it’s don’t on the roof of your mouth in front of your soft palate
