      Yeah, notice he's choking on the chocolate strawberry that she prepared. Wonder how he could possibly swallow a whole strawberry. Wanda totally tried to kill him because he started to question her reality. And she had to command Vision to help him because he couldn't do it out of his own free will.

    • @Wiley_Coyote
      @Wiley_Coyote 3 года назад +44

      Not initially, but yes.. later. You'll see this trend continues. They're enslaved to a script. When an event breaks the script they gain a tiny bit of momentary freedom. Since this is the first instance, Mrs Heart didn't gain much freedom. She was originally looking at her husband and saying "Stop it Arthur", specifically about his aggressive questioning. When he chokes (off script) her enslavement is loosened just enough to drop "Arthur" and redirect the plea to Wanda. Her eyes certainly show what's really going on.

    Something that struck me is that Vision had super-speed powers in this, which isn't a typical Vision power. Seems like Wanda also subconsciously misses her brother and layered his powers onto her ideal Vision. His head is also "indestructible" now, unlike Infinity War. So maybe she's trying to to make him unkillable with these enhancements.

    I believe that this is all a coping mechanism for Wanda’s trauma. Vision is alive and well and he now has an indestructible head so there is no way that he would be able to die. Also I noticed that there are many similarities between the toaster commercial and the bomb at the beginning of Civil War. It’s almost like she tried to replace it with a more positive memory.

    • @nickcampanella636
      @nickcampanella636 3 года назад +80

      I think the commercials each represent a different trauma that Wanda's gone through, the toaster (made by Stark Industries) is ticking like a bomb because Wanda & Pietro were trapped for days waiting for a Stark bomb to kill them (see Age of Ultron) & in episode 2, the Hydra Strucer watch represents the trauma of herself & Pietro being experimented on with the mind stone by von Strucker

    A few things I noticed:
    Vision only reacts to save Mr Heart when Wanda tells him to, she also loses her sitcom accent when she says this. This leads me to believe that he’s part of the creation she’s fueling. Potentially somebody else is making her powers do this or it’s because of all the loss she’s had.
    The bomb sounds from the toaster almost definitely are linked to the stark bomb her and her brother waited for to know if they would die when they were trapped in sokovian rubble before their experiments. The toaster also had the only colour in the entire episode (some red), but I’m not sure about that significance. The noise is also Iron Mans repulsor.

    Even though I wasn't alive during that era, I love watching old black and white sitcoms. The production team went above and beyond! I love the housewife and working husband trope that Wanda and Vision play, and Agnes nosy neighbor is spot on! I liked that it got very dark with Vision's boss choking and his wife repeating herself, it seemed like Wanda is definitely the puppet master behind this sitcom reality, it seemed as if she commanded Vision to save his choking boss. And I think the reason why Vision was glitching is because Wanda has control, so he mimicks whatever she wants him to do. SWORD watching Wanda def gave me CHILLS!!!

    I love that each one is a different decade of sitcom, it brings so many clever jokes and as a fan of the cinematic arts, it keeps me interested and entertained even early on when nothing too big is Going on. Using powered people like this is fun, like vision phasing through the door and Wanda staying outside is great.
    The phone call misunderstanding is such a sitcom situation
    When Wanda started tripping and the camera angles changed I Got chills
    The show is brilliant.

    No one else noticed that during the Stark Industries toaster commercial, the red blinking/beeping light was the *only thing* in color throughout the entire episode until the zoom-out from the TV at the end? I thought that was a subtle, but really cool little cinematic decision to point out "this is important and even the things that aren't as they seem are even LESS as they seem than you think". This is shaping up to be a very Legion-esque show, and given how much I loved Legion, I'm loving this!

    I don't think it's a dream. I think it's Wanda forcing her reality in an area, and all the NPCs are real people forced to act in the way she sees fit in her sitcom reality.
    That's why the boss's wife was breaking as she was watching her husband die but couldn't do anything except say her one line. It was initially directed at her husband, but then her tone and inflection changes to pleading that same line to Wanda.
    I think in reality, she's being kept in a SWORD space station or something, as she has lost herself after Vision's death in Endgame, and reality is starting to warp around her in a certain area. I assume this will eventually explode and spread, and lead to Dr Strange multiverse movie.

    To answer Rick's question, I've watched virtually none of the MCU, but I know the key beats (infinity stones, snap, restore) and I watched the Legends summary shorts on Wanda and Vision who I don't know at all as prep. I really enjoyed it, very clear that they don't really understand why they're there, but they know (Bewitched style) that they have skills that most people don't and they need to hide them. The watcher at the end is an intreguing element.

    the toaster is supposed to be like a bomb, because it was a stark bomb that killed her parents and then another one sat in front of her and her brother's faces while they were stuck for 2 days. I think the theme of the commercials is wanda's past trauma.
    also when the wife was saying "stop it," she actually started looking at wanda, like she was telling wanda to stop it.
