Dionne Warwick is the original
Whitney's cousin Dionne Warwick sang this originally, and then Aretha did a version, both in the 60's. I don't know how often Natalie and Whitney had interacted previously, but both grew up in capital "S" Singing families, so singing with other people was second nature to both of them. Nice reaction! As someone else mentioned, "Bridge Over Troubled Water" would be another one to react to... but you should react to both versions Whitney did, first with Natalie Cole, and then again in the 90's with CeCe Winans. The one with CeCe is such a great performance, as their deep friendship and total ease singing with each other really make it special

Aretha version sung but song is by Dionne. Great singers can sing with anyone. Houston comes from Gospel background while Natalie comes from Jazz
This sound was called an “Aretha Franklin classic” as the version and arrangement they are singing was Aretha’s-not Dionne’s
