And here we are, the 29th March, 2023, and Paul passed away through the night . . . Paul and Cilla will go down as two truly wonderful human beings - loved them both - 🙏!!
Sitting here crying my eyes out. Heard to devastating news Paul has passed away today. What a treasure. He will be missed just like cilla. 2 legends together again in heaven ❤
I hope Paul's funeral will be big.he deserved a great funeral to me he will be SIR PAUL OGRADY.HE SHOULD HAVE HAD HIS KNIGHT HOOD.HE DESERVED TO HAVE IT.BUT NO IT WAS GIVEN TO OTHERS THAT DIDNT DESERVE IT
I am American so I was not familiar with Cilla Black. I have learned so much about her in the last few days.. and wept during this funeral. She seemed like such a wonderul women. Wonderful to the core. So rare. I am so sad for the loss everyone feels in the UK and Liverpool. May she rest peacefully.
Wow such an amazing person Paul O'grady was.A great entertainer comedian and charity worker. He had a wonderful caring and loving heart. He will be missed. Also what an amazing speech to Cilla Black.Another great British entertainer and singer gone to soon.R.I.P Paul and Cilla.❤🧡💛💚💙💜🤎🖤🤍.xx
Together once more in Heaven creating havoc i have no doubt. May they both have a blast on the other side and may God whatever his/her name is, bless them both.
Lovely tribute to the memory of the wonderful Cilla Black. She certainly loved life and having a good time. As one of her Aussie fans, loved her bubbly personality - such a warm person. RIP Cilla. 💝
How wonderful to have people joining in Cilla's fun and laughter at her funeral; through Paul O Grady.......remember with a smile; remember with happiness - always remember with love.
+Christine Smylie Yes, funerals can be very happy tributes; very happy memories of a great life; no point in being too sad. Here in Ireland we have the great comfort of a Wake. That is where the whole neighborhood visit and praise the "corpse" more than they ever did when he/she was alive. "Never did anything wrong, great man" etc. Good stuff though.
@John O'Connor I live now next to a church many funerals and they don't bother with a wake.only one I had seen and the vicar put sandwiches and tea or coffee on.while horse is waiting?? I presumed if that was a wake that gets held after?
I grew up with Cilla black loved by millions and she swooned at remembering elvis so I hope she has first row seats at his concert in heaven God love her
She died just 8 days before my mother. I wasn't aware of Cilla Black until just a few months ago. She wasn't very well known in the states, but if she had been, she wouldn't have had a bigger fan than me. RIP dear lady.
How beautiful was that. And now Paul has gone. As the years pass, and we are left with modern 'talent' , we realise that the world is becoming a poorer place.
+Dan Harrison King I think all funerals, well here in Ireland, wakes too, but all funerals should be tributes to the person that we have lost. We do it well in Ireland, totally the same as this ceremony for Cilla; tributes, stories, memories and above all the joy of a life. That is how we do it. Okay, a few moments of sadness but more moments of joy and happiness and good memories and then together as family, the basic unit of our lives, a kind of sacred space: family
So sad at Paul ogradys sudden death.he looked a picture of health.down to earth.i never had the joy of meeting him.but thought of him as a friend in my home.his poor dogs will miss him.i am sad that a great man like Paul wasn't given the news coverage like other famous people.anyone that even knew him.from telly would shed a tear now.everyone can relate to paul as if he was our personal friend.gone to soon paul x😂
I was crying, tears of laughter. Brilliant Paul. Also loved the priest for his wonderful punchline right at the end of this clip. Catholics will know what I mean :)
I was very impressed with his sense of humour . I think the priest is Bishop Tom Williams , the Auxillary Bishop in the Archdiocese of Liverpool . His boss , Archbishop Malcolm McMahon had only fairly recently been promoted from Bishop of Nottingham to Archbishop of Liverpool so was new to the city , Bishop Tom apparently knew Cilla's Brother and grew up in the same area of North Liverpool .
Before he met Cilla he used to slag her off when he was in character as Lily Savage. He later said he regretted doing so as he did not really know her and he had judged her on her public image.
My mum met cilla black in the early 60s when my mum was working at battersea fun fair.my mum had my oldest sister at work with her she must of been just over a Yr old and has ginger hair.cilla said oh she has the same hair as me but mines from a bottle may I have a cuddle of her mum didn't think to get her autograph at the time
Why didnt Cilla hold her funeral service at St Anthony's Scotland Road Liverpool L5 where she was born instead of a Catholic church in the South end of Liverpool that had norhing in common with her working class North Liverpool roots?
Look, I would say that this whole culture of "idolising" these famous people is totally wrong....big time!!!! Like the rest of us, Ms Black had her good points and bad ones too, I never knew her, nor did she know me! I liked a few of her songs, but that's about all I can say. Paul O'Grady is a very talented comedian and has a way with words, but I'm wondering whether in this eulogy he was pandering to his "audience's" expectations?
there is a popular thread online about rude celebrities in real life. cilla's name cropped up the most. countless posts about how she turned on her scouse accent when the cameras came on and would only speak through her minders to members of the public. i can believe it.
@@debowiec3 Paul O'Grady never pandered to anyone. He did the eulogy from the heart as he and Cilla were the best of friends and he loved her and continued to miss her up till the end.

Can’t help thinking we’ve lost another hero ✊ Paul OGrady
I hope the person that is selected to do Paul's eulogy does him just as proud as he did Cilla.
