Shows how much the sound insulation in the upper tier car. We have Innova 2,4 GD and the engine noise still get through a bit more than Prado

The same thing also appear on the 2.7 petrol engine

It's quite good after 100 kmh

seems quite quick for what it is and also 120kmh at 1500rpm, should be one hell of a cruiser

Well spotted. We drove around for DAYS and DAYS but that 150L tank simply didn't budge!

But I'm sure filling it is a traumatic experience. In excess of 3000 South African Rands by today's rates

badly chosen gear ratio in 4th gear (very likely for the planet saving) and quite lazy turbo - 4.5sec from 100 to 120km/h...

      Fair comment!

GD engine is designed for fuel economy. Many have tuned the stock GD and the results is underwhelming, unlike KD

@@abraham9459In fact you can call it tuned for economy. For engine with peak torque of 500Nm in range 1600-2800rpm I do expect well response in this rev range. Especially under full throttle, then I dont mind economy. Driving softly I do expect economy and then dont mind slow response.
Lets call it simply sluggish tuning, which needs to be remap aftermarkt.

@@d.k.7710 Engine design is one thing. We haven't talk about the Achilles heel of GD platform, the automatic trans. We own 2,4 liter one (Prado is 2,8)

@@abraham9459 for my part I can't say a word on that - last known aut transmission was Rav 4 20yr ago... last experince was manual 6g box on corolla, performing in low average at best.
My feel is like Toyita is extremely conservative and slow on any technkcal change. They should use more knowledge on co-working companies like Mazda - they delivered knowledge fir new 2.0L and 2.5L force petrol engines here..
