Sonic would have won if their fans didn't get overly toxic to other fandom. Gōōgle "Sonic Genshin trashtalk" and you will understand why most Genshin voters who didn't care about the voting at first, voted.
as someone who was in both fandom, I was genuinely confused by the events and just decided to stay in a corner with the peaceful sides of both fandoms waiting for that war to be over
It's because if people shit on our game without even playing it, that's just being disrespectful to us who actually plays it, and we have the right to shit on our game because that thing is annoying That's the difference This is also why I don't shit on games that I don't play
@@futaarmorThen who then the sonic community? As a member of both community's let me tell you, i was just happily waiting for the worst part of the sonic fandom to break itself against genshin. And genshin was no.3 when America and Europe voted.
@@futaarmor Keep inhaling that copium, bud. As if other communities aren't just as toxic. The Sonic community is smaller, yet incredibly toxic, so stfu.
This whole thing is literally the Don Krieg and Mihawk scene from One Piece live action turned meme: Sonic fans: you destroyed my ships! Killed my men! Why?? Genshin CN players: ...you woke me from my nap.
If there's one thing I've learned, it is that the Genshin Community is like a Bee Hive. The moment you mess with it, you wake the entire hive of a community you don't want to mess with.
That reminds me of Alhaitham's story quest, with the hivemind. lol But the Genshin community are much stronger than that one. They got plot armour on their side too. XD
I had a bet with myself that if Genshin won against Sonic, I would comeback to genshin since I stopped playing just before 1.6. Now I have been playing ever since then.
The day where the entire genshin community stopped their years long ongoing war with each other and united to absolutely annihilated a common enemy, Whether it was a casual, meta slave, F2P, Whale, Dolphin, Gay shipper, Straight Shipper, black knights, white knights, husbando collector, Waifu collector, Eastern or Western community, they all put aside their grievances and absolutely dominated the Sonic Community It was a historic event
The thing about the Genshin community is that it's a fractured community. There's so many clusters and groups that either fights each other, fights the devs, watches from the sidelines(with popcorn) or are just absolutely clueless about what's happening. The fact that the Sonic community managed to anger the Genshin community enough to actually unite for a single cause for once is actually major. The last time it happened in my memory was with the horrible anniversary rewards. TLDR; Genshin community is like a country on civil war with multiple regions fighting the government, fighting each other, or doing their own thing. Sonic community angered them enough to declare cease fire and start uniting against a common enemy.
The Sonic Community should've just kept their mouths shut, and not threaten the Genshin Community. Ugh, This is why I stay Away from the Sonic Community...
Sonic community is the same exact thing. You have your Classic fans who think that the Classic games on Genesis is the only true Sonic and that every game released from 1998 onwards is garbage. They don’t like Sonic’s green eyes and they don’t like his longer limbs. Adventure fans will knock the boost games. Boost fans might be the least bad side from what I’ve seen. Frontiers fans will have a meltdown if you say something negative about the game. I’m just over here flip flopping around between every Sonic game, having some I’m not a fan of but generally liking most styles.
Dude, I remember this era. Our group chat were having a debate among ourselves if Scaramouche was worth to pull and what builds we can use on him. Even facebook groups were at each other's throats (people who were saying that he's mid and people who says he's gonna be good dps). Nobody in the community cared about the Game Awards. Then a certain image pops up, the one where they were beating up Lumine. Then a whole bunch of images of Sonic fanbase saying the most outlandish things about the Genshin community. That was the time that everyone in the Genshin community banded together to vote Genshin. We were not in it for the primogems. It was only 60 primos, who cares about that. It was about sending a message at that point.
@@ankngmgtrue i could ket it slide if it was azar.. but when isaw lumine getting beaten.. Omg it went dark, i remember using all of my alt mail accounts... 😂
yeah I remember going all out for scaramouche and not even knowing TGA vote happened until that one image popped up in the community and suddenly posts after posts rallying people to vote was made 🤣
Funny thing is that Hoyoverse NEVER announced something in case they won, it was just because the community was enraged by the Sonic fandom, the tears were delicious.
If Hoyo didn't fvck up the rewards there might not have been a war with the people for centuries (years). And maybe genshin wouldn't have been as strong lol.
This whole situation is like poking a single sleeping lion with a stick, basically taunting it to wake up and attack you, and then you realize you’ve woken up an entire flock of a hundred lions that are not visible behind the bushes. Edit: Lmao I didn’t notice someone else made a very similar lion analogy like 5 seconds ago
As someone in the sonic fandom myself (Frontiers roped me back in) I'm glad we didn't win the game awards. Sure it would have been one hell of a victory, but I wouldn't want the people who started throwing around slurs to be rewarded for their behavior. The fact that Sonic Frontiers was actually on track to win makes this whole fiasco a crystal clear lesson in proper behavior that I hope they'll remember for a long time.
exactly same thoughts. Been in the sonic fandom (and still am, I'm never leaving I've realized) since like generations, and I was utterly appalled from the amount of disgusting words I saw. I wish Frontiers would've won, but honestly something like that shouldn't be congratulated. The next year, hopefully we can be better people and win an award fair and square without the need to be rude and discriminative 👍
@@phoenixablaze166 Besides, since Sega recognizes how much the sonic fans put frontiers on the pedestal at the GA. I think they'll make another one that's better or consistent as Frontier's quality for the next GA. And hopefully, the fans will *live* *and* *learn* from their behaviour to zip their mouths shut for another chance.

i was watching this happen on twitter and the words "the genshin fans were just chilling bc they got playstation partner awards primos" describe it perfectly. no one was batting an eye at genshin being recommended, i didn't see anyone like promoting to vote genshin or anything, hell i (like a lot of people on my timeline) fully expected elden ring to win that award and genshin to maybe give out nomination primos or something.... and then sonic fans started shit talking genshin and it was like everyone's heads in the room collectively snapped to the one guy in the corner shit talking and took it personally. say what you will about genshin fans but we're petty as fuck that's for sure
i think the thing that triggered them the most was the racial slurs which was entirely their fault and i actually applaud the genshin community for standing up and fighting back
As a genshin player i fully expected elden ring to actually win (even tho i never played it cause i was broke) but even during the voting i wasnt aware what was going on and vote elden ring

They didn't say anything about reward prior to voting event and they gave the primogems regardless Genshin won or not, to ALL PLAYERS (even those who didn't vote)
True. I was one of the witnesses of that great war. I think hoyo tweeted that they would give primos if they won or something like that. And you can guess what happened next. 😊
@@ravikeerthi5272 you got the fact wrong about hoyo tweeted giving out reward if they win. in fact they didnt even mention anything about it. till after the award was finished.
Keep in mind that this was around TCG launch and there was much hype build up around it. Like, genshin players got insulted, rose up, won the war while barely lifting a finger and went playing genshin gwent without any care in the world. Genshin fandom is truly one of it's kind.
Rule 2: **DON’T FUCKING CHEAT USING BOTS. IS THAT SO HARD TO UNDERSTAND? JUST BECAUSE YOUR GAME ABOUT A BLUE HEDGEHOG IN BUDGET HYRULE IS LOSING TO AN ANIME STYLE GAME RELEASED 2 YEARS EARLIER DOESN’T MEAN YOU NEED TO CHEAT.*
It's actually true and tragic. I hope things like this never happen again. Just because you really love something, it doesn't mean that you can just disrespect things other ppl love. Me and my guys in Genshin, we didn't even care ab the damn awards because it's 2022 and Genshin had already won in the year it was released and it also just won PS award again. But then after shit hit the fan and the amount of offensive contents throwing at Genshin community, fans and even China (ffs) then it's not about winning the damn awards or shitty primogems for us anymore... ...It's about sending a very loud and powerful message and to teach disrespectful ppl some manners.
As a Genshin fan I didn’t bat an eye at Genshin being nominated and expected something else to win. I’m not even on Twitter but as soon as I heard that the Sonic fandom was insulting the Genshin community my first thought was “This is going to end in a total sh*t storm” I then proceeded to wait for all the chaos to unfold from my little corner 😅
I feel bad for the Sonic devs since it was highly likely that Sonic could've won had the fanbase just stayed quiet. I didn't know about this voting until the lumine getting jumped fan art lol.
@@cristianovogt5586 they decided to taunt the genshin community before they would've won. Basically all they needed to do was just shutting tf up but nooooo they decided to fire the first shot

You are wrong. The 800 primos weren't for player's voice. That was for being nominated for best ongoing game award and best mobile game award(lost to ff14 and marble snap respectably as far as I remember)
As one of the few Autistic Level 3 members of the sonic community I'm truly sorry for what some of the more disposable beings in our group have done. Maybe next time? In the next what 10 years? =)
What really happened is that picture of lumine getting ganged up ended up in a chinese forum together with the racist comments made by the sonic fans translated in chinese which angered the GI CN community and bullied back the sonic fandom and really helped out voting genshin to win the award hahaha
As someone who is/was in both fandoms, this got to be one of the stupidest things to spark a drama over. I understand the antagonistic nature of both sides but I swear, this drama would not even start had the Sonic fandom kept its mouth shut. Genshin players did not even care about the category until they started being called slurs. The funniest thing had to be the bribing accusations. We barely get shit on anniversaries.
The funniest shit is that they pissed of the CN community, who at that time, can't play any online game iirc due to a nationwide mourning/event So they essentially decided to punch the hornets nest and made themselves the only target of annoyance

@@SunSh1neFNi mean, the sonic fandom started that meaningless thing, that award for genshin was something like a lesson for them to not go searching fight with another game
I think it`s one of the better things the fandom has done. Even if Frontiers as a game deserved the award (not my opinion, I haven`t played it and cannot judge), the people in the community dropping slurs and the like didn`t deserve it.
my twitter page used to be filled with racist comments and posts against genshin community at that time and was wondering how that was going unnoticed. Truly deserved outcome. Genshin community is mostly wholesome except for the cancerous twitter handles sometimes but it is always the non genshin players that are the most toxic. Go say something good about genshin compared to other games and you will be amazed by the amount of slurs thrown at you(p3do being the most common).
This was the biggest and the most clear example of "F-ck around and find out." Honestly, it takes nothing to be respectful and kind, but no, Sonic Fandom decided that they needed to get nasty for no reason but just to brag- They would have won if they would be just decent people.
This. Most Sonic fans are so petty and childish in *THIS* situation. All of the mental gymnastics, twisted narratives to turn other communities against Genshin even more, and victim card when they got called out are hilariously sad
@@fr0ck360I've met some good people in the Sonic fandom .. unfortunately also the bad kind Especially there's one guy who just love throwing the word pedo like it's candy aaaand that person deleted the tweet and just ran like a bitch
As a Sonic fan and someone who voted for and wanted Sonic Frontiers to win the award, I can confirm the that Sonic fanbase got what they deserved. It was so funny to watch people’s reactions after realizing “Oh wait, we just pissed off one of the biggest communities in gaming”😂 Edit: Also it’s not a huge deal, but why do people always point to the weird side of the Sonic fanbase when talking about them? Sonic fans have made some incredible fan projects which constantly get overlooked because of the dark side of the fanbase. Again, not the biggest deal, but it gets very annoying to see people only mention the bad side of the fanbase and say it represents all Sonic fans as a whole.
It’s the same like the Gacha community or the Genshin community, the people often look at the bad side and declare it as the whole community. It’s tiring when you get insulted just because of the bad apples from your fanbase
I keep seeing every Sonic fan saying this. Makes me wonder, where are these bad bad Sonic fans at that people keep gaslighting about? Every Sonic fan I know are always humble to every fandom except their own. And before somebody goes "they exis..." Just show me already.

I voted for Genshin during that vote Not because of what the Sonic community was up to or anything cause I don't pay attention to fandoms for the large part I just saw the vote, voted for what I liked or actually had played
I voted because one of my friends was like, "Hey don't forget to vote! (link)" didn't even know about this drama... but now all those weird sonic/genshin posts I saw makes sense now.
Don't apologize for idiots when you did nothing wrong. The idiots are the ones that needed to learn a lesson and I hope they did, but seeing how they live on Twitter they probably didn't.
I understand the wish to apologise as a genshin fan and wanna do it too sometimes It's important to remember there are normal players in any game, they just don't write comments most of the time Let's be friends❤
I really ignore this vote for 2 rounds but when I saw the death threat and insulting / racism. I vote Genshin impact despite I don't want them to win since like Genshin impact to so their can improve the game like new endgame content.

In my memory, Stray players had such a nice and quiet and peaceful community. They were like, "thanks God we are here" and be grateful that others noticed them while we were fighting our a*s out for our pride (and primos). 10/10 experience btw totally would do it again lmao
Literally all they had to do was not attack other communities and they would've won. I like to imagined the main reason for genshin community uprising was because they bullied Paimon And everyone just unanimously think she is OUR annoying little sister that only we are allowed to bully
It begs to also note, had Sonic fans just kept their mouth shut, voted for frontiers and not actively try to poke the Genshin bear, then they'd have EASILY won the votes. I love both Genshin and Sonic, Frontiers deserved an award and Genshin was just there because the Sumeru expansion at the time was valid enough to warrant a nomination I guess. A year later, and the scars of this event went so deep that some Sonic fans are bragging about Genshin losing this year's player voice as if they had done anything to make it happen (meanwhile Mihoyo gave free primogems anyway, making their previous attempt seem even more silly).
honestly some of the sonic community's pettiness is really annoying to look at. like, it's been a year, you asked for it, yet you thanked a game that had nothing to do with you (nor even did it for you) for beating genshin? it baffles me how they could go on after doing all of that, are they not embarassed?
@@ayakaimpactsIt's the same with genshin impact. However, it's not the pettiness. It's the constant toxicity. Ship wars, attacking the company for more black characters and even taking away some characters' own race to make them black, disagreements on which Archon is better and stronger, its all a Civil war out there. They become twice as toxic whenever it comes to another fandom too, I've left the Genshin impact fandom a long time ago and I'm glad I did - it got too much for me - and the lore, grinding, barely any primogems bored the absolute fuck out of me. I've never seen any first impression kind Genshin impact fan before in my life. You could change that, anyone could, but now it's really not going to change due to Twitter/X and the constant bashing IN the genshin impact fandom and outside.
A funny fact. During the drama. A small part of genshin community also ask honkai for extra help which i found kind of wholesome considering 2 community rarely friendly to each other (on Facebook group not reddit)
Mihoyo gamers do unite for common cause actually, there was an incident on Bilibili where a streamer was mocking everything Tears of Themis... The wrath of both Genshin and Honkai community. Which is crazy, because Genshin and Honkai normally treat Tears of Themis like it doesn't even exist. The moment things happen... "Hey! Look what that asshole said about our sister who we ignored our entire life!", and all the weapons are out.
Even though we constantly have civil wars within our own fanbase, this community is undenialably one of the most powerful things on the internet. Most of us just want to play without being called p*dos man. You aren't an exception even as a teen girl... :(
Unfortunately, that's just how it is on the big bad internet. If you like anything with an animesque artstyle, then you're a weeb, a term that has at this point lost all of its original meaning, or a sweaty neckbeard, or a pedophile because some of the characters are underage even though there are tons of other characters who ARE legal age. (cough cough, Lisa, Jean, Beidou, Shenhe, Raiden Shogun, Yae Miko, etc) Maybe you'll be called all three. Especially common if you play a Gacha game.
To be fair, as a fan of both communities, when this shit happened, I was just sitting at the sidelines with a popcorn, watching historical moment unfold right in front of my very own eyes.
Same here, I'm just sitting seeing two franchises that I love fighting against each other. I just want peace with both of the community to evade any toxic and irrational behaviors.
Ngl, it was the most chaos I have been into since I started playing in 2022... and I didn't even knew Genshin even fought against a literal God (Google), which is a trillion dollar company by that time. I saw the post about the gamer's voice reward in the genshin subreddit. So when it was announced who is the winner, the comments is filled with quotes of "All hail Havria" because of the huge amount of salt flooding through from the toxic sonic fans that it can be felt even here.
Bro, I was hanging in /gig/ (4chan's Genshin General discussion thread) during the votings. People were pissing themselves in laughter screenshotting the malding Sonic fans on various Discords. It was to die for! So many people assembled reaction face edits, soyjaks, and other hilarious stuff. At some point, a few Sonic fans tried to spoil the mood by posting weird porn/gore in our thread, but that ended up backfiring just as much, as their General Thread was turned into a nuclear wasteland for almost two days beyond the VGA show. And we sure as hell didn't want to make up and get along, we wanted to make sure they'll never forget. It eventually died down, but those scars will take a few years to heal.
You know what the funniest part to me was? During all this drama, I was playing the mobile Sonic speed battle game, and there were ads for Genshin/Honkai(which is still the case today) So, the two communities are fighting but the companies are doing business together LOL!!

Let me remind you that bum got cooked over 160+ times by a 'TALL MECHA', and still needed Nahida and the whole of Sumeru's Knowledge to win the whole fight. Sonic has already fought Mechs of the same size while PLUMMETING to the earth's core, won, and proceeded onwards to fight a metaphysical god of darkness.
Sonic has also survived his whole universe and it's timeline being wiped by Time Eater, and his speed alone repairs the time space continuum. Baby classic sonic one taps both current Traveler and full power.
