Jim Green is working on a steel toe version of the African Ranger Barefoot
Actually it’s a fake good year welt stitch on the outside. Still a solid built resole-able boot. Rose Anvil cut these boots in half a while ago. I have a pair and I like them but I cannot figure out why there’s sooo much extra leather on the top of boot. It bunches up like crazy and It makes them look funny. If they don’t change that I won’t buy another pair
The upper is Blake stitched to the midsole and the outsole is glued on. It's not a fake Goodyear welt

Thanks for the insight . I have worn Vivobarefoot Scott’s for five years now. I absolutely love them but with that said they sell out fast & can be hard to find in the color / size I like. I am looking to possibly make a change but just can’t pull the trigger on these being that they are over $250 bucks ! 😮 I do understand that they can be resoled but the the harder sole is my hang up. Also they look extra floppy in some pictures after they are really broken in. … My last hang up is I am so use to Vivobarefoot Scott’s. It’s literally my only footwear no matter what I am doing or the time of year….
Two things for you. One, they’re not floppy at all. Mine are well broke in from work and they’re great. Two, if you use our link to buy them it auto applies 10% off. So hopefully that helps 😬 solid, super rugged boot in my opinion
I have the summit and I hate them. Specifically because of the lack of flexibility and stack height I think. My day to day shoes are feel grounds and I love them, but the Summit hurt my feet. Can’t wait for the best boot video

It’s interesting that the summit hurt your feet. Eric and I both wore them on a 8 mile mountain top hike just days after unboxing them and had no issues. I did the same hike in them a couple weeks ago and the only thing that didn’t hurt was my feet 😂
Are you a UPS driver too?? I’m wearing the LEMS boulder boot currently, good souls but the toe box isn’t wide enough. I’ve been looking at these for a while now. Thanks for the review!

If the would give them some traction, may be good on asphalt and concrete but no good in the woods

BEWARE!! Bad boots. Bad Customer service. I figured the comments here needed some realistic balance. Ordered two pair. One for my son and one for me. Returned my sons for stitching. They were good about that return, no problem. However, now the leather insole has become scrunched up and folded inside for apparently no reason. I just found out about that and haven't addressed that with Barefoot yet.
My boots had the same problem with sole separation and stitching but to a lesser degree. I contacted customer service and they were like " I can send you a repair kit and you can do it your self or you could send them in but it'll take two weeks" . I said "cool, Id rather you guys fix them" because they were just a couple months old. I waited a couple weeks with no answer and so I emailed. They said they their repair guy was on vacation and they would get back to me the following Monday. Monday comes and goes but I give it a few days I finally emailed and was ignored for about a month and a half and 5 more emails. I finally opened a new ticket and was ignored for a couple more weeks or so. They said they they could figure out what was going on with my boots. I was pissed off by now and sent a terse email asking about a refund. Finally they send me a refund and then later an email with a "why are you so mad" sort of tone. F - these guys. Save your money for a better shoe company like Xero or Lens. They sucked to wear even before they started coming apart.
I found them to be way too low volume. It feels like the top of my toes are getting crushed. Yes, I have a good amount of room in front of my toes (1 finger width), so they are long enough.
I had the same problem on my left shoe. I stuffed a golfball in where it was hitting my big toe to stretch the leather. I did this for 2 nights. By the third day the problem had been solved.
Lems, are you listening, dense rubber soles are what your line is missing. Give the outlander a sole like this
How do you get the resoles?
Any good cobbler should be able to resole it pretty easily
what's the insole width in the toebox for this boot?
We'd have to destroy the shoe to measure it, they're sewn in, sorry!

@@Brandon-qp7gq tough to get a super accurate measurement but I'd say about 4.5 inches (11.43cm)
you dont think the jim green ranger didnt do this kind of boot first ?
No experience with that boot yet, but this one did come out first and I would say they’re a bit different. Go watch the rose anvil video on the Ranger and you’ll see they optimized for different things than the Bearfoot does.

@@BH-gh6qm I could be wrong, but my impression from the video was that he helped them develop it fairly recently. I only watched the video once, so take that for what it’s worth. We just became aware of Jim Green, and will be reaching out soon about featuring the Ranger on our channel. That would make a good toe to toe video.
@@BH-gh6qm I personally prefer higher ankle boots. But that’s just me. Which is why I would initially lean toward the Bruin. But one difference is the Jim Green is definitely geared toward warmer weather. I don’t think the Bruin would do as well in hotter weather. But I don’t think it has been optimized for that like the Ranger has been
250$? Thats nuts for something that will only last 6 months
Why would it only last six months? There’s a guy on Instagram who has a pair he’s been wearing for two years. He thinks he’ll have to resole them in another year or so but he bought a second pair so he won’t be bootless when that happens
less material and costs more than some real leather Timbs

@@sonsofsever some have a very modest drop and you can stretch the toe box. Also point still stands.
@@_FLAK_ I’ve worn timbs. For a long time. They aren’t foot shaped at all 😂 and I trashed a pair in one year as a delivery driver. I’m on 7 months at work in the Bruin. No issues yet
