I normally don't post on RUclips videos because the large amount of stupid people that seem to congregate on here. I've been building cars with my grandfather since I was 3, and racing is in the family so I've been around plenty to correct you. 1. The car does not make too much horsepower, it's perfectly fine because it's meant to be a drag car that doesn't need a trailer and doesn't need to be stored away until it's a good day to go to the strip. So when you're running it on street tires which are made to be cheap and keep debris and water from affecting them, the traction is going to be piss poor. Drag slicks are much wider, have a much larger contact patch, and allow you to air down for a solid launch. 2. The reason why it doesn't look like 1500hp when they are driving it around is because they clearly state that they are running about 5 pounds of boost, when the engine was dynoed and made 1450hp it was running at 28 pounds of boost. It would be stupid to try and run full boost on the street with street tires. 3. There is hardly any turbo lag with this car. This isn't your ricer Honda trying to spin a T6, this is a build 388 (Which equals about 6.4L for you lesser educated individuals) so it's able to spin those two big turbos, which look to be about T3/T4 size, with no problem at all. So this car is more than capable of spinning those turbos. 4. If you don't know shit about cars, don't try to talk on the internet like you know cars. This is essentially the perfect car if you want one car to go to the strip and lay down a very solid time and then drive it home, and take it to work the next day. With the onboard adjustability and things like the tucked rollcage and dual fuel tanks just go to prove that.
First of all thank you for the knowledge. I know nothing about cars(I mean it not like you seem to know), but I agree with you about them people who troll the Internet looking to insult others!
Tom, I'm a master gunsmith & being a machinist myself (I manufacture custom made 1911's out of billet aluminum & steel) I'd just like to compliment you on your gorgeous work! The parts you made & your engine build are what dreams are made of! VERY VERY NICE work Sir!
This is a brilliant project and I completely understand the purpose. You guys have outdone yourself's with the innovation and engineering you have achieved on this awesome complicated beast of a machine. That interior, suspension and power plant are genius.
I'm 62yrs old and the fastest I've ever gone is 140mph , clocked by NJ STATE POLICE. I WAS A LITTLE MORE CRAZY THAN I AM NOW, I WOULD JUST LOVE TO GO 200PLUS BEFORE I DEPART THIS WORLD! !!!!!
Pop Pop Ketterer 62 and too old to drive? Come on man, I live in NJ...there's PLENTY of people that are like 92 still driving lol. Go for it, just go rent something. Get the insurance lol. I'm sure there's a track SOMEWHERE near you.
1500 BHP Camaro? I was really excited. But after watching I found these guys have a lot of things to learn on how to present speed. Check Top Gear and learn how and where to focus the camera when it comes to monstrous speed......
all these people talking about "its an auto, what pussies" if you knew anything about straight away racing and or muscle cars in general, you would know that when you build a car for pro racing it is much better to have a pro built automatic trans because when having a manual, there is no way to be consistant with your times. with a manual you never run the same time over and over and over, where as using a pro built auto it allows you to set your gear ratios and run consistantly time and time again giving you the true idea of what times you will run in a 1/4 mile or 1/8 mile. Also to everyone hating on how much power and no traction.... ITS A CAR BUILT FOR PRO RACING!!! they are showing you it is a sleeper and you cant drive around town with damn slicks on it even if the car needs them to perform correctly. Coming from a family of racers and hot rod builders I know there is no limit on the power plant you put in a car as long as everything else is in sinc with the motor. props to these guys and noone can say that head to head on a 1/4 track that a stock veyron or gtr which are gorgeous cars will touch this cause if you believe that you are an idiot. with true slicks and tuned correctly this camaro probably runs mid 7's to low 8's

That should help clear up some of the idiotic statements (for those without the cognitive bias, illusory superiority complex). Also confirms what I've been saying all along....The Street Tires are for the street, as I'm sure placing racing ("Wide Slicks") tires on this beast for the street would be highly illogical, as the whole idea behind the vid was to prove how stealth this car could be.
Well if you enjoy making clouds of smoke and fighting for control while getting blown away by someone that is putting their power to the ground then have fun. I have had cars with half his power that would bury him. You seem new to this.... power to weight ratio and traction are way more important than over the top hp... what a shame no one understands hotrodding anymore.
John Lacy "I have had cars with half his power that would bury him." you hear that everyone? he has a bunch of cars with 700hp. don't mess with him, he is a bad ass.
jkbear29 whats the point of so much power when you cant use most of it. lol youll b going really fast from 0 to 60 make a huge cloud (BTW contratulations you paid for the tires and the gas) and all in the name of fun, when u see this "pro" hes bearly got the car in control when he pushes it...
People look at you as a badass even if u have a corvette from where i am from i have never seen a supercar on the road from where i live myself i think i am a badass considering i have a dual introduction mustang cobra with a GT wing spoiler but its no where as fast as that camaro
have been watching this many times over the 2 yrs , respect for what you do with classic and new american cars esp. the Charger ! Would be nice to see them on a race track :)
Thanks i personally enjoyed the engineering aspect of this project, alot of skilled talent, A few of us boys here Downunder Australia Mate appreciate ya taken the overalls off & given us a tour.
LAST QUESTION: WHY didn't you take it to the TRACK and run some LAPS and take some TIMES? Us RACERS want to know. LOL Oh yeah, what's the PRICE TAG on the WHOLE PACKAGE?
Zomgdevil I ask and I can afford 5 of these... It's not like every one who has money is educated on absolutely everything. My buddy last week went into a Suzuki dealer to buy a hayabusa and asked because he wanted to compare the price to a Ducati 1092 and the salesman said exactly the same thing as (flitcrma) we were both f**ing shocked at that! Guess who lost a sale that day and then guess who went straight to the Ducati dealer...
Alex K you know man , just because some people can`t afford some things they talk trash because they are jealous , don`t bother to explain that to them it`s easy to see that flitcrma is not talking , the frustration inside him talks . Peace
Seems like a waste. It might be 1,500hp but it seems like the geometric settings in the suspension is using about 500hp and pissing the rest of it away in smoke and body sway.
Well, too much power is a lot worse than not enough. Especially in terms of street cars. An underpowered car isn't going to throw one of its half shafts and cause the car to dive into oncoming traffic. However, a car that is improperly built is much more prone to mechanical failure and heightened effects of driver error. Thus, when you build a powerful street car, it has to be built well. Having that power under the hood is no different than not having it if it can't be applied to the road surface properly. A 1,000hp car that mercilessly spins the tires under moderate load is functionally a 500hp car.
For a street car with 1000 HP+, you might as well invest in an AWD platform or at least a rear-engine platform. RWD cars might put up some decent times on a drag strip with very sticky tires in a perfect environment, but a GT-R or Gallardo with less power will be impossible to match on the street unless you're starting from a 80-100 mph roll.
Awesome power for this amazing zl1,l work at the Camaro plant in Oshawa.l see these great car's everyday,so it's awesome seeing one all done up to 1500hp.WOW
Matt Venable does your Camaro have the compulsory Snap On toolbox in the boot so that you can fix the car at the side of the road when it breaks down????
I have owned 2 Ford's and 3 dodge and all of those cars has broke down and gave me problems never have a had a problem with a Chevy I also have a 69 Chevelle and never had a problem with it either
Dude he don't own the car. Its the company's engineer testing the car after building it for a customer to take to a drag strip. So they video taped it cause they were so impressed on the job they did
Hey Tom I have a 66 Chevy II SS and you are one of maybe 2 builders that I would drop my car off with and leave with little instructions and much trust. I have followed your builds and you don't need me to tell you about your excellent work. I do have to agree that I would love to see one of your cars on slicks at the track. Maybe you could post that video, And I know you must be friends with the local police because folks are getting arrested for videos like this all over the country. I would really hate to see someone get hurt on one of your test drives. You or an innocent by stander. Let's not lose you to an accident or a lawsuit. ...Keep up the awesome builds. [I haven't dropped my car off because I cant afford it but im still a fan]
The Camaro looks cool but I don't think muscle car when I look at it.... I still feel like the mustang and the challenger are the only two cars left that look like muscle cars. I feel like Chevy was designing this and wanted it to be super retro, then they were like nahh, let's just make it massive and stuff, then they were like wait nah retro is actually cool, and they couldn't decide...
Old car bodies with modern tech inside and better materials, those would be cool :) I'm sure those 60's & 70's muscle cars body panel stamping dies are still somewhere...
YPO6 Search the Equus Bass 770. It's a new muscle car coming out, retro body style with more modern interior. It's really cool, but apparently it's $250k.
The new (2014) Camaros are not good looking at all. They were pretty good looking before, but they've ruined it. The new Mustang looks alright, and while it doesn't look very "classic," I think it does look cooler than the new Camaro. That being said, the Challenger looks stunning. Best looking muscle car in a longgggg time.
***** Exactly!! Man I really am back and forth on the Camaro, but I just can't like the back. So much of a step backwards. The new Mustang....just so weird. Not saying I don't like, just such a massive difference. Looks like a future muscle car lol. But I'm getting used to it and even though I always liked it, I'm liking it a lot more now! Only wish it had those square rings that the 2014 model had for the taillights. But it looks cool in its own way. My Mustang is going to start crying when one goes by me on the road. As far as fancy rich men cars, Chevy has to stop with that!! My dad has a huge lifted up 2012-2013 Silverado. It looks pretty cool, but it looks like a Cadillac, not an off-road, mud-ripping machine! All of Chevy's new cars are looking like...well exactly what you said, wannabe-rich people cars lol. I think they're going to start putting real gold in their emblem if they don't stop.
Guess you don't like high horsepower drag racing cars. Since this is the type of transmission they use. If they actually want to be fast, not break, and win races anyway. But that's all common knowledge to anyone into motorsports. Drag racing doesn't interest me. But I can't imagine not at least understanding the requirements of high torque motors in this type of application. Unless RUclips was my sole source of information. Which I'm sure yours is.
But imagine having that power and jumping into gear all excited lmao my friend this trans will save someones life... I know if it was mine it save me lol
i know the car is fast but i highly doubt it has 1500 hp. At the most it's going to have 900 hp but to have 1500 hp means he is not even running ordinary fuel in the car. I'm talking about this thing has to be running on jet fuel
God Of War first column - - RPM , second column - - foot pounds of torque , third column - - horse power . The 1350 you saw was the torque reading not HP
I really hate watching these videos because it depresses me that I'll probably never own let alone have the privilege to drive such a beast from Nelson Racing. I love these motors and turly envy those with deep enough pockets to build a car that will allow one of these motors to truly sing!!!
What the hell kind of gear shifter/gear box is that at 5:06. Typical useless American engineering. Come to Europe and learn how to change gear the right way. Also what's the point in having 1500rwhp if the first corner you come to you understeer into a burger van? From the passenger seat it looks like you're in a boat!
The guys that worked on this car did a beautiful job. The car kicks FUCKING ass, sounds like a monster. The guy driving (Tom?) your videos are awesome, good driving, great personality, funny as FUCK. Provides a little insight on what it would be like to drive a extremely powerful automobile. Thank you for sharing these videos. More please.
Beautiful a work of art!!! Wish i could do half of those upgrades and changes to mine, i have 1/3 done to mine lol!! All that looks just north of $200.000 in cost
I know this feeling. You can't control a creature like this on the road and I agree anything over 750 on the road gets rediculous but fun. My friend had one of the last lingenfelter corvettes. 427 twin Turbo masterpiece with 180,000 in mods and like this one 1500 horses. At 110 mile an hour roll she would go sideways if you floored it. Fastest car I've ever seen and 93 octane only as lingenfelter built her right. Trust me these boys are just farting around. You can't get crazy with that kind of power on street tires. Great build brothers as much time went into this car.
There are a bunch of haters down below but I want to tell you that you guys have got this down!!! First off, it would cost at least double to do the same on an import 4 or 6 cylinder and it still wouldn't sound or look as good as American Muscle. Keep up the awesome work!!!
beautiful car! and I always get jealous when I see under the hood of one of these! You got so much room compared to my coyote based mustang. You need a shoehorn to get a TT setup in one of those. The road footage really shows just how much power this thing can put out.
Not a bad way to turn tires into smoke. Glad there wasn't a bunch crazy looking appearance mods. Also all of the intake, header, cooling work was very, VERY pretty and clean.
Venom... American muscle. Fastest car in the world. LS based motor like a Corvette, I believe. Enough said on that. This car is FN badass. These guys did a great job. I would love to see it on slicks at the track.
damn was really feeling that, impressive build... don't get why ppl r badmouthing it so much, oh d joys of RUclips eh lol! very detailed build, can definitely appreciate the vision n work that went into it. would luv to see it run on d drag strip for real
Nice ta see Customer service romping on my ride...Well" il be back Nelson, Sure glad i trusted you ta supe up my ride, and beat on it too.. Thanks again.. ummmm sure its got lots life left after ur done...
Wow, nice video! Very impressive Camaro. Not sure why the negative comments below... It's obvious from what you said you built the car for someone, that person wanted a bad-azz street car & drag-car combo. It look like you were hesitant driving it as completely understandable given street conditions; should have test drove it in an area completely wide open to fully test it. Put some 345's Nitto drag radials on it and do a rear wheel dyno & post the results, both hp & Tq.
Just the sound of that car alone has given me goosebumps! Camaro's are the best! Love them. I have one too!
mustang super corba jet is better
Avie Garcia :3
american muscle, MURICA!
muurica fuck yeah
ha ha bugatti are better
That shit is sick. Just a brutal piece of machinery. Awesome job, fellas!
That engine is beautiful, the car is got to be one of the most beautiful cars I have ever seen. Love it.

I like the door slam at 2:18.
Gotta love Nelson the difference quality really makes
with those tires 1500HP are going to be useless
Felipe Betanzo it’s illegal to drive on the street without radials.

David Lyon really cause I have a Camaro z28 535hp and it handles great so obviously you have never drove one or you don't know how to drive.

I modded a prius with a v12 engine
LEL
I HAVE TO SEE THIS!!
Hopefully paddle shifters are not the way of the future. Stick shift is better period
I agree. It takes away the fun.
you'll never be able to shift as fast old timer
Valhallen002
Unless the old timer forgets how to use the stick shifter.. then automatic is best.
Surely this is sequential?!
Good lord! Beautiful car!
Doesn't even pull like 1500. Pretty slow
It didn't have any tires on it. That's why.
Likes for this dumbass comment? RUclips has to stop pretending to drive cars behind a fucking screen. It's really sad! 👍
@@mewrongwayKOCXF Dude, he has a Civic as his picture. That's even worse.
The reason he is not punching it and looks slow is because he can't hold it straight if he does .... Too much power need slicks then you will see
The fact that this is street legal is AWESOME!!
Why the fuck are the speeding in a residential area with that car?
sleeper!
Holy shit these guys don't mess around! Beautiful engine work
The slowest 1000hp car ever
put 8.5'' wide street tires on any drag car and it won't go very fast...
its slow because its heavy like all camaro's since they didnt put carbon fibre in the body kit and its thick
1500hp i don't care what tires on it it supposed to be faster than that
You do realise there is this little thing called traction mate so think before you say fuckhead
This car is a Beast. I'd love to drive it but I would probably kill myself.
That engine looks so nice in there!
I love the car big time. Not cool to be driving like an asshole in residential area's
My brother has 3 camaro's in Australia a 67, 68 and i think 76☺
so what
+zinnism i thought some people from USA might find that interesting. How about you go eat a shit sandwich you grumpy turd.
+Anthony Lasek thats awesome, glad u have the classic's some people just go from old to new lol
+Anthony Lasek he's got great taste!
+zinnism go eat a shit sandwich
This sst is a beast ..wld love to see it in the 1/4 mile with some big wheels ...
Dylan Bailey Thanks, that car is exactly what was on my mind.
*****
Exactly!!
CRAPPY flames background
+1
Mvp
coolest car ever made! Amazing job guys!
Closed the video as soon as I saw there are two pedals.
+Mike Labonte Guess I don't like a car without a clutch pedal, not one with high horsepower.
1350 the dyno said.
God Of War print out was 1450 hp with 1300+ torque
Oldrbutnowisr OK then I guess I'm blind?
God Of War first column - - RPM , second column - - foot pounds of torque , third column - - horse power . The 1350 you saw was the torque reading not HP
pradit caparas i think its def capable of 1500 Hp, but you cant get traction with that power anyways
love the way the trees go into light speed mode when the car pushes on
such a cheesy fucking video lol awesome car though
useless , cant go around corners
why not?
drift?
I really hate watching these videos because it depresses me that I'll probably never own let alone have the privilege to drive such a beast from Nelson Racing. I love these motors and turly envy those with deep enough pockets to build a car that will allow one of these motors to truly sing!!!
За Россию блять!
That Camaro is the baddest modern day Muscle car I've ever seen.Damn I want it!!!!
Leave it to Nelson for the custom inter-cooler turbo beasts in the body lookin' stock AF, skills forsure, best sleepers you'll ever set you eyes on.
Motor on the dyno was very cool. Thanks !
Those cars are awesome
Hopefully one day I like to have my Corvette back
That is one sweet machine you guys have put together
une vrai bête !
c'est malade
Et tellement beau travail, impressionnant.
Impressive machine and what a stress reliever...lol but you are so right work all day and look forward to getting into the beast.
NRE . You guys truly build road rockets.
That engine is a work of art.
Eine richtige Rakete auf Rädern, Wahnsinns Power dieser Rennwagen!!!
The road footage really shows just how much power this thing can put out.
amazing breakdown... this is beautiful work
that camaro is a beast
Y'all have the prettiest engines
Not a bad way to turn tires into smoke. Glad there wasn't a bunch crazy looking appearance mods. Also all of the intake, header, cooling work was very, VERY pretty and clean.
The car is unbelievable ! Very well thought out and executed. Not to be negative but you could probably go just as fast with 900Hp but what the hell !
Camaro are one of my top five cars.(GTR ALPHA,PORCE911, Z06 CORVETTE,VIPRE,&Z28CAMARO).
Man, great job on that engine!
You Guys Build Simply the Best Dam Engines Ever Wow I Love It How You Have A Little Fun After You Are Done LOL
MY DREAM CAR! 😍😍😍
It's like... "Eat my smoke Honda!" .. Haha, you build amazing cars, I'm considering a birthday present for my mom's 2010 Camaro SS.
Love that it's a sleeper. The sleeper of all sleepers! What a fucking monster.
Tom Nelson knows his shit!!! If I could afford it, that's where my car would go!!!!!!!!
haha ! The kids from the old neighborhood that never grew up ! ripping burn outs so rad !! lmao !
That motor is a work of art
Thats so awesome. I wish i had the money but more i wish i had the skills to build something like this
Absolutely Beautiful Car! Ridiculous speeds.
Venom... American muscle. Fastest car in the world. LS based motor like a Corvette, I believe. Enough said on that. This car is FN badass. These guys did a great job. I would love to see it on slicks at the track.
damn was really feeling that, impressive build... don't get why ppl r badmouthing it so much, oh d joys of RUclips eh lol! very detailed build, can definitely appreciate the vision n work that went into it. would luv to see it run on d drag strip for real
wicked exhaust note! beautiful lope!superchevy!!
true it sound beautiful
A well engineered monster.
5*. Love the work an quality. I don't cut corners myself. Keep it up guys!
