- The great thing about ground game meat, is it is very lean. This means the burger size you make has minimal shrinkage for when it's cooked. We love to trace our patties to fit the bun; works great!
This bison came from our friends in northern British Columbia, at bisonguy.ca It is SO delicious!
One For All Mighty Bison Burger...
Ingredients:
2 lbs Ground Bison
2 eggs
Feta Cheese cubed
Salt and Pepper to taste
About 2 Tablespoons Parsley chopped
1 Tablespoon Garlic Powder
1 Tablespoon Onion Powder
Lettuce
1 large tomato
Pickles
Half a small Red Onion
Cheese of your choice (I used swiss)
Large Baguette
Condiments of choice
Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 400°F
Combine Bison burger, eggs, feta, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and parsley with hands and set aside.
Cover your baking tray with tin foil and place your baguette on top.
With a skewer stick, gently outline your baguette
Once outlined remove your baguette and set aside
Next place your bison burger inside the area you just drew. (Remember game meat is lean and will not shrink)
Make sure that your burger is the same thickness all the way across. That way it cooks evenly.
Place your burger in your preheated oven for about 25 minutes.
With an oven mitt pull your oven rack out and add BBQ sauce of your choice.
Put back in the oven for an additional 5 minutes.
Next pull your rack out again and add your cheese. (I used swiss)
Put your tray back in the oven on broil for an additional 3-5 minutes.
During your cooking time chop up your toppings. (I used tomatoes, lettuce, red onion, and pickles)
When your cooking time is up, remove your bison burger from the oven.
Using your oven mitts grab each end of the tin foil and carefully place it on your baguette.
Top with your favorite toppings and condiments.
Slice into quarters.
Enjoy!
