  • Jumping into the world of gouache paints can be quite daunting, especially when faced with the question: is the most expensive gouache paint worth it? Join me as I review and explore the luxurious yet pricey Schmincke Horadam gouache, a brand that many beginners eye but are unsure about.
    I recently took the plunge and bought four Schmincke Horadam gouache paint tubes. It cost me a whopping US$74! And in this gouache review, I find out if these high-end paint tubes are worth the splurge.
    To help you navigate the wide range of paints and price tags available, I'm opening up my art studio and sharing my firsthand painting experience with this prestigious gouache brand. I swatch, test, and paint, using these tubes to provide you with a detailed, comprehensive Horadam Gouache review.
    Throughout the video, I'll evaluate this gouache on several key factors. I will discuss its consistency, mixability, opacity, and drying time. You'll get to see firsthand how the colors mix and how much water or medium they require for different effects.
    In the end, the decision on whether to invest in premium supplies like Schmincke Horadam gouache comes down to personal preferences and individual art goals. My objective is to provide you with all the essential information needed to make that choice easier.
    Remember that your choice of paints makes a big difference in how you experience painting and how your artwork turns out. Therefore, my review will focus not just on technical aspects but also on how using these paints can change your relationship with the art of gouache painting.
    Buddy up with me as we embark on this gouache quest to determine if these high-end paints truly paint a brighter, more vibrant picture, or if they're simply a gorgeously packaged version of what you already have. Taking this journey with me will help you make an informed decision that matches your artistic style and budget. Let's explore and learn together!

    Art tip: for a smooth paint distribution like in the background you can use a makeup brush, they have softer bristles, nice for blending and covering larger areas

    Thank you very much for this video! I am very poor when it comes to my personal income, but I have a few friends who combine forces to give me large gift certificates to art stores during holiday season. I have been seriously considering some Schmincke Horadam gouaches as my big purchase this year, and I really appreciate the different techniques you demonstrated here. I'm still not quite sure I'll go for this, but the review definitely helps me feel less dumb for considering it.
    Would you be willing to do a side by side comparison video between these and Windsor Newton, M Graham, maybe Caran d'Ache or Holbein?
    I would love to see each of those brands just like this with four tubes laid out into color wheel and then small composition.

    Thanks for an unbiased peek at Schmincke. While I don't doubt a full palette of Horadam would be very satisfying, the price will prevent me from ever knowing. Graham is my choice (with the addition of a couple colors not offered by Graham), and I'm quite sure my failures are not due to my brand of paint.

    • @CecileYadro
      @CecileYadro  10 месяцев назад

      I don't like the Titanium for mixes, I think it gives stickiness to the mix, and there is a slight blue undertone to it. Or maybe it's just me being picky.

      💗💓💖 your videos! I only use S. Horadam gouache. I bought the tubes because I’ve been happy with the consistent and reliable quality of my Schmincke Horadam watercolors I’ve used over four decades. It wasn’t too hard to budget to buy a few gouache tubes each six months for a few years to have a good collection of colors today. And the paint is soooo saturated that a little goes a very long way. It is also nice to be able to use them like watercolors, since I lean towards more opaque watercolors anyway with my style.
