      Well a smp (for me) doesn't require 12 cores, 6 if there are many mods are ok, as well as the ram

    Hi, Great video!
    What part number do you recommend for 8,16 and 32Gb DIMMS? Can I use any brand or should I only use HP brand memory modules on this server?

    • @cloudninjas
      @cloudninjas  3 года назад +1

      Definitely don't need HP branded. We ship matching majors. Samsung Micron or Hynix usually. Take care.

    What type of a server would you suggest that I buy for home lab ? I just want to get hands on

      Dell R620 or R720 for lower end and less expensive. DDR3 based. R630 or R730 would be next gen and DDR4 based. Those are some of our personal favorites. Good luck. Smash that subscribe.

    Good afternoon, please tell me how to adjust the fan speed on the HP ProLiant DL360 G7 Server.
    Worth windows 10
    Four disks in the raid and instead of an SSD drive
    The processors are not loaded at all, but once every half hour they start roaring as if an airplane is taking off.

    do u know that server accept ssd enterprise? like SSD 500 GB WD Red SA500 NAS? what I need to setup?

    • @cloudninjas
      @cloudninjas  Год назад

      Yes will accept Enterprise SSDs. Never personally used those WDs to confirm they'd work, but don't see any reason why they wouldn't work. Sure they are fine. 👍

    If you have both CPU's can you put 2gb modules in all 18 slots? I have the DL360 G7 with 4 drives, the DVD option, and the X5650 and 300gb drives and 2 of the 460w PSU's. I use it as my web server.

    • @cloudninjas
      @cloudninjas  3 года назад

      Yes you can put 18 x 2GB as long as ECC Registered single or dual rank. ECC Unbuffered can only support 12 DIMMs (2 DIMMs per channel). Take care. Smash that subscribe.

    Where are you buying these huge boxes of ram? What's the cheapest way to get these 18 sticks of ram?

    You know how well the server would run something like a rust server with 72gb of ram? (rust or Minecraft)

    • @cloudninjas
      @cloudninjas  3 года назад

      I'd recommend more RAM. At least 144GB. Also make sure you have dual hex core procs. Hope that helps! Take care bud.

    Curious ...
    I have 2x16G (32G) ECC 14400 | 1800 which the DL360 G7 automatically drops to 1600mhz
    I also have 8x4G (32G) ECC 8500 | @1066.
    The server runs 2x X5650 (2.66mhz) for a total of 12C 24T
    I have yet to make this server do/run anything that takes it even anywhere near a medium pace. In fact, the most work I have put it to was installing Win Server 2019 DC...
    Aside from that it flutters fans every now and then, I assume this is just to keep them in shape... **chuckles**
    What pros and cons (if any) might there be to mixing these two types of ram, and running 64G at 1066mhz?
    They are all the same brand just different speeds.
    32G @ 1600mhz = 51200Mhz
    64G @ 1066Mhz = 68224Mhz
    I expect "what do you plan to do with this server" will be the first response, to which I respond with "Virtual Machines, and a few open world game servers".
    Feed back would be greatly appreciated

    is it possible to host game servers on this? or did i just buy something i can just use for more video storage

    • @cloudninjas
      @cloudninjas  3 года назад

      Yes. Will work. I'd recommend having maxed out RAM inside to increase performance. Best wishes.

      @@cloudninjas 288 GB or 384? I'm trying to get as knowledgeable as possible on servers since I'm new at hosting...two more questions can game servers run on a server OS and does hyper threading matter?

    • @cloudninjas
      @cloudninjas  3 года назад +1

      384GB via 12 x 32GB DDR3 ECC Registered 4Rx4 Server Memory Upgrades will be the best option from a performance stand point.
