Great Job Joey, thats the best Spiral Arch video i've seen so far! makes perfect sense!! One question: wont the fishing lines to keep the arch secure be a hazard if people couldn't see them and ran right into them? Would you suggest the same for if it was a kids party?
Hey Amna! The fishing lines can be a hazard, so tying inflated balloons along the fishing line can be decorative, as well as bringing attention to the fishing lines for safety purposes
nothing except pressure from the quads on each side of every quad. To be safe, especially for outdoor events, you can spiral fishing line arounf the pvc once the balloons are on to make sure they stay on the pvc!
I use (3) 10-ft conduit pipes (3/4" size) to make this one (See my newer large balloon arch video for an updated base technique). I also have a medium size arch where I use (2) 10-ft conduit pipes (1/2" size) or 20-feet of collapsible tent poles.
I use 10" x 10" bases, but if there were a larger base, I would use that! There are other weighted steel bases for photography backdrop stands and other production equipment that come in 18" x 18" bases, but they are a lot more expensive. The tampers have been an affordable way to produce practically the same outcome - especially if you use fishing line to secure the arch anyway.
The bases are the most expensive part. The tampers I used in this video are around $70 for two. PVC and balloons are relatively inexpensive in comparison 🙂
Yes! The bases are not very wide and don't stand well outdoors. The tampers I used to use are now sold in smaller sizes than they used to. Check out my newest video with an alternative base option! :)

This is brilliant thank you! How far in advance can you make this arch? (Day before?)
Hey Mary, if it’s going indoors, the day before is fine. I usually set up a few hours before the event starts. Thanks for watching!

Do you need fishing wire if using indoor
It’s best to attach the balloons to the frame with something. Fishing line, ribbon, or the balloons themselves

Hi Joey, what is the size of this arch. I would like to make 25ft but not sure how many pipes to get.
Thanks

I didn’t quite catch the tie line part…how and what is the fishing line used?
I recommend line no thinner than 25 lb test. secure the fishing line to the top of the arch frae and to objects in front of and behind the arch

Confused where you tied the fishing line
The fishing line is tied to the tallest part of the frame and secured to objects in front and behind the arch

What if I need something wider and taller
Add another 10-foot piece of PVC to make the total length 40-feet! Make sure to secure the arch in several spots if making it larger!
