We might have a month of food in my pantry we have four more people from Lytton BC evaculation staying with me we all have bug out bags ready to go most people I know preparing to leave Kamloops at a moment's notice as the fires rage on when Juniper Ridge in Kamloops caught fire people in my neighbourhood didn't know what to do where to go my neighbourhood realized the vulnerability my biggest concern is which highways are going to be accessible for evacuation if it comes down to that
It is not 'getting hot' in canada. A record temp and a fire do not a trend make. There was record cold too last winter and two winters before that. No one is saying canada is freezing. Don't forget the record snowfall....But a record heat or a short drought and people think the world is on fire. They make a much bigger deal of it because it is part of their confirmation bias. For example, in my area we had a record cold summer last year. I only noticed because I pay very close attention. I put the numbers together twice. Daytime average for the whole summer was the lowest it ever recorded. Do you think if I went to the newspapers they would print that?
I use to be homeless, I typically eat one meal a day, and it’s very simple foods. Unless you are an athlete, people don’t need 3 meals a day, and not as much per serving.
I'm type 2 diabetic and I do keto, I eat omad (one meal a day), I have copious amount of energy. I'm ultra low carb, and cutting sugar and wheat out of my diet hasn't affected my body apart from weight loss and adding muscle tone and upping energy levels. Hunger is only a hormone response (grehlen) and will pass after a few hours 👌🏻
If you load up on fluids, you’d typically be fine, but you’d have to save your meal until the evening, so that your satiation can last well until the following day.
People can be obese and still nutritionally deficient. Not having the proper nutrients often causes people to feel hungry even though they are consuming more calories than they need. Also, chemically treated foods-served daily at all fast-food restaurants are lab created to make people addicted to the food. Vicious sad cycle.
The prices have gone through the roof. I get less than half of the amount of products for double the price. It's crazy. Lilly, love how you set everything up. ❤

The shortages aren't for lack of water. They're engineered. The food and other products you buy now will cost more in the future. Stocking up is insurance against supply disruptions and inflation. Don't be caught unprepared again. And check out Ice Age Farmer on RUclips.
Absolutely, been buying extra every time we shop, we also practice fifo and rotate our preps, very important to rotate, you don’t hear much about that.
There's another pandemic lockdown coming. Australia and China are lockdown again so the U.S. and Canada will probably be lockdown even though alot of people have been vaccinated. Also the heatwave is engineered they can control the weather to push their climate agenda, but yet some states can't even keep the ac on without blackouts but theywant us all to plug in electric cars. Also these cyber attacks on the food plants and other manufacturers are inside jobs.... I believe all this stuff is being done on purpose....end of rant
@@leadnsteel1428 You are correct, Schwab actually spelt out these plans i.e. how they would engineer all the disruptions to supply chains. They also forget to point out that part of the world are experiencing record, unseasonable or prolonged periods of cold weather. I only started really prepping just over a year ago, prior to that I would have been prepared for a month, but we are facing worse almost unbelievable challenges this time, so backs up for water, power, (light and heat) etc as well as food.
I started to prep in 2005 ( mountain house as I could afford the cans, 30+ years) - I just purchased 4 boxes of 25# parboiled white rice. I can mix with meals to make then larger. ----- parboiled rice is the way to go.
@ForeverHomeAZ soak in water overnight and then drain water. Boil in fresh water over an open fire or on a grill in a large cast iron pot. You can add vegetables, meats or whatever seasoning you like. The amount of time it takes to cook will depend on what type of bean you’re using. Just check them periodically until they are ready.
@Jon C wasn't all tp she also got paper towels and napkins. As well as food staples. The issue was people going over board and making multiple trips buying an entire pallet worth of toilet paper. Which depending how how high its stacked that's something like fifty to eighty packs of 24 rolls of tp in each bundle on each pallet. From age 16-23 worked as a grocery clerk and had to deal with a lot of inconsiderate pricks. Thankfully there was also some decent people too.
Or like my ex-roommate did... She went and spent $1,500.00 on meat at Costco. She "borrowed" neighbors freezers to store it all because all of the freezers were bought up. Not only did she have way way way too much to eat writhin a reasonable amount of time but she used other peoples electricity to store it and they couldn't even eat it! She also was a toilet paper hoarder. All of it stupid.
@malinda allison yes that is pretty dumb and inconsiderate. Freezers can break down or if the power goes out they're obviously not going to work. So did any of the neighbors ever tell your roommate to get her meat out of their freezer after a certain time period or eat any of it for compensation for power used/ storage? When your stock piling food you buy stuff that's going to keep like canned foods, dried beans, rice not perishables. A toast to bad ex-roomates🍻 cheers.
My stash got a little depleted when the pandemic started and there was shortages of everything. It was a valuable experience. I know more what I need now instead of what I want.
My mom actually got angry for buying extra food to stock up because she says we don’t have enough room to store it, which of course is ridiculous. She also got mad at me for buying extra water because my dad had trouble carrying it in from the car. She said,”it almost killed him”. After I was right about the pandemic she swore she’d never doubt me again. But even going to the grocery store with me & seeing the uncharacteristic empty shelves, she still mocks me for saying there’s gonna be a food shortage.
You should also store some sprouting seeds such as mung bean for bean shoots I've had some for around 15-20 years and they still grow they just need a jar and water and don't need light
Great comment - I realised a while back that Dried Beans were also Sprouts so I upped my supply of Mung Beans to 10Kg - I will increase that to 30Kg now that I know you can get 15+ years
Having grown up in rural America, and had roads blocked by several feet of snow for weeks at a time. I'm very used to the idea of keeping a few months supply of food on hand the year round! Even in our small city home we keep 4 to 6 months supply of food on hand ALL THE TIME!
I always kept 6-month supply of food because I had an old car that would always break down lol. Even though I got a new car I still kept stockpiles. So when the pandemic hit I was prepared.
We have Sam’s club & Costco here in the US that’s similar to that store. We love buying supplies in bulk so we don’t have to go shopping to often. I love all of your videos & greetings from Mississippi,USA!

@@specUVdust You should only ever prep what you are 100% certain to eat regardless. Only buy what you like. Prepping what you are willing to reduce your diet to if there is a crisis is definitely wasteful. Buy, consume, replace.
I highly recommend having a wood stove in the house. So you have good heat, a way to boil some water and a place to cook if the power goes out. If someone in your family owns some acres of forest there is a nice source of firewood. My house was built just before World War II so there are many wood stoves here. It is so good to have a wood stove in the winter. At least here in Norway.
I live in Virginia USA in the country and my only heat source for about 7 or 8 years has been a wood stove. I love how it heats the house, though it takes a lot of wood because it has to heat half of the basement first. I am hopeing to do something about that sometime
Remember how aggressive the 'green' aspect of their plans is, it is not about preserving nature, but about control. They plan to plant trees, but invest far more in surveillance and monitoring of those trees. Remember "you will own nothing" that includes 'their' trees. i would imagine that cutting would would be considered a crime before too long (unless its for their 5G) They also want ownership of seeds - with storing seeds from one's own harvest or keeping seeds from one year to the next to be made illegal. All written in their plans.

“Reality” is manufactured, not only in totalitarian systems, but in every organized social system. Those in power instrumentalize the masses to enforce conformity with their official ideology. Totalitarianism is just its most extreme and most dangerously paranoid and fanatical form.
No im not just realizing this now, its a topic frequently talked about in my household. But last night was the most recent lol was just commenting on her video.
Calm down folks, before making any predictions it's best to consider the current situation we are in. 1. Climate Change more frequent severe weather like droughts, flooding, everything on fire, extreme heat and cold... 2. The rise of right wing authoritarianism. From Democrats and Republicans in the US. 3. Abuse of marginalized peoples. 4. Local and global economic crisis 5. Increased likelihood of new diseases caused by climate change. We have some bad stuff going on and I am watching every day, but what I am also witnessing is... More good folk coming together. More good folk taking action in prepping for community, training in farming, self and community defense, teaching what they know to others, and all other kinds of good stuff. We don't need hope, and we really don't need despair. We need action. We need to recognize our oneness with each other and to give our skills and knowledge and learn new ones together. Dark times are ahead and let that fuel your efforts to shine some light that we all might find our path forward.
Yes. My husband and I have our stock pile. It is very important in times like these. We have a freeze dryer and an unmentionable amount of food stocked away in various places.
@@penultimateh766 I find it rather odd something our ancestors practiced is now frowned upon. It hasn't been that long ago people stored food for the winter and following spring. Some stored up two years worth in case they had a bad harvest. Everyone should store needed food, supplies. I look at in as insurance. Anything could happen at any time, not just political or weather related. A job loss, death or debilitating injury. Personal Economy.

Suggestions use CLOTH napkins, towels and cleaning rags that can be used and washed and used over and over. You make these items from old bath towels. Keep waste down. All the best! 👍😃
Mmm, yeah, nah. I tried the cloth napkin routine. For about 30 years, actually. But you know what? It's a lot of work, and it takes a lot of hot water and powder to clean them. Paper napkins sourced from sustainable plantations makes more sense for more people. Also, the napkins can be reused as cleaning cloths after dinner.
I've been using flannels as clothes for years. Fairtrade, organic cotton, wachine washable and do not flake microplastics into our food supply. 1 or 2 extra thick ones can be used as towels and take less washing. They can be soaked in a small volume of hot water then machine washed and are lot quicker to dry. They should be colour coded for different jobs. At the end of their life they can be composted.
We're doing the opposite with a view to conserving limited water supply, which will be by design. I have a supply of paper plates, plastic cups/ knives and forks etc.
Well 4 months ago I remember reading all the haters calling you out about causing panic. Guess what? Not only are shortages occurring, but also a record number of food recalls. Don't even think about onions right now! Keep up the great work!
Banks pay so little interest even on so called high interest accounts. Its worth while spending on groceries , especially when on sale, to get a better rate of return on you cash. $1000 pays less than 1%. Investing this in your pantry can be so much worthwhile.
There is something to say for this. If you are buying stuff that will keep and you will eventually use either way, there isn't a lot to invest in right now that is more lucrative. When you stock up on food or anything tangible < like gold and silver > you are betting the currency you bought it with will go down in value because of inflation. Nobody ever lost out in the long run expecting inflation.
Thanks Lilly for allowing us to tag along with you today. Good info! And, yes things are a mess all over. During the heatwave a couple of weeks ago it got to 45C here in my town. Incredible! We are also experiencing Extremeplus+ dry conditions, and very little rain fell this spring. Up until the last 5 years or so I never heard, "forecast calls for smoke, and a high of 35" EVER! Now, it's Smoke and Fire season, to add to the other 4. Things definitely are changing. I live a few hours from Lytton, in the Okanagan. It is tragic the amount of forest and wildlife lost. 90% of the village of Lytton was burnt to the ground. There are 300+ wildfires burning right now in the province. And, some of these were deliberately set by people, actually caught on camera doing so; which is -- I just have no words to describe the kind of people who cause such destruction and put people's lives in danger. I live in a small apartment in the city. I don't drive, so I don't have a vehicle, and I live alone. I have little space but I have put away some supplies and food, and continue to put away what I can each month. You work with what you have. Blessings!

Hi from Houston, Texas. We had droughts a few years ago and it got to a point where everything was drying out and lasted for 3 years. After last year freeze Strom, being the 3rd or 4th largest city in the US, we never run out of food but one week of the city being frozen, no power and more than half of the city with no water. You can't really say it can't happen to you where you live. So I feel you, we are now getting a lot of rain and we flood easily, we have been fortunate that we haven't flooded in our block but right down one street my neighbors have rebuilt more than 5 times or had major repairs. I am a hiker, camper and love the outdoors, so during the freeze we use our camping gear to keep us warm and potable electric generator with portable solar panels. I now have been watching your channel and I'm enjoying your content, keep up the good work and wish you the best.

I'm sure they'll hold a 24-pack of beer if they were big enough but I just use the built-in carry handle for that and canned cat food. The ones I have are a little smaller than a regular paper bag but a little bigger than a regular plastic bag. Seems like the stores I go to standardized on this mid-range size with the "bags for life" they sell. I've seen some larger ones but they're insulated but are a bit pricey but I don't need these since I don't live that far from the stores. I don't go to those stores either because I don't buy in bulk and even though the prices may be a bit cheaper, it's not worth the hassle because it seems a lot of people go there and the lines are always long at the checkout. I've only been to them with a friend who wanted to go and that was enough for me. Also for those bulk stores you have to buy an annual membership to be able to shop there and they have a wholesale membership for those buying in bulk for their restaurants or stores and regular memberships for others who qualify by being active or retired military, police, civil service, or other jobs that sponsor them. They do have a much larger selection than most other stores but I can find what I need at my regular stores at pretty much the same same price.
Monsanto screwed the genomics of the world's wheat so that they own the intellectual property. Now with widespread droughts, think of storing wheat products, and how to keep them safely from mice and rats (metal containers).
Certainly not been too hot or dry in the UK lately. Also shortages are mainly caused by panic buying such as the toilet roll shortage due to COVID causing people to lose all sense of reality.( you can’t eat bogroll). I am reliant on disability benefits which are only enough to just about survive so for me there is no chance of stocking up on anything
If you can afford it but 2 of sometimes next time you go instead of 1. I understand disability is barely a survival wage but there are many other ways to prepare as well aside from stocking up. Also you don’t need to buy everything all at once, over time is better for your bank account anyways.
@ Mark Edis, Why did the puppet masters pick toilet paper for a "shortage" to stampede the cattle and not cigarettes or coca-cola? Answer: Because every one uses toilet paper but not every one smokes or drinks coca-cola.
If you are going to start having really high temperatures that are not normal for your area I suggest not buying pull top cans. The extreme heat could cause pressure in the cans that may compromise the seals on the cans. The same problem could happen in reverse if you have a cold winter that could include power outages.

As I was previously a member of the Mormon Church, I had experience in food storage and it looks like you have the right ideas on a lot of your prepper pantry. Canadian here. I've been to Lytton multiple times for work in the railroad. That place and for the fact, that whole valley down to Washington it is always HOT. This year hotter then most given. As for the forest fires, it needs to burn. In Canada we have more tree cover and forest cover then anytime in the last 100 years. We have done to good of a job fighting fires, and managing under brush(which is a huge task in the mountains). The lack of rain in the Canadian Prairies is however very startling as beef and dairy cow feed has gone through the roof due to everything stopping growing.

So far this has been the worst summer for years. I don't even remember the last time we had that much rain at this time of the year. In mid April it was even snowing. It's probably not a bad idea to stock up on supplies but I don't think we have to be over concerned about a global food shortage or global warming. I'm much more concerned about the continuous fear mongering in regards to Corona.

@Jon C wasn't all tp she also got paper towels and napkins. As well as food staples. The issue was people going over board and making multiple trips buying an entire pallet worth of toilet paper.

@malinda allison yes that is pretty dumb and inconsiderate. Freezers can break down or if the power goes out they're obviously not going to work.
Even these barbecue grills, you can cook on eat this is what we use to do in Africa even wood like you said
Remember how aggressive the 'green' aspect of their plans is, it is not about preserving nature, but about control. I bought a pistol crossbow and broadhead bolts. Should I buy a Samurai sword as well?

Between inflation and potentially a direct attack on food to limit supply, this is the way to go.
God Bless you for showing that everyone needs to be prepared to take care of themselves as long as possible without government intervention or help.
God bless you too.
When I go to a fast food joint , I save the napkins they give me, to save as emer Toilet paper. Have a week or 2 of cash on hand.
Smart thinking!
Great video! Thank you for sharing. I have been also thinking about that I should buy extra food to prepare for more difficult times. The wooden stove is a great idea too! I will also buy one later.
It's been the coldest April, May and June in the UK for around 20 years all in. Weird weather. Now it's raining solidly in mid July!
Look up Grand Solar Minimum. Ice Age Farmer has excellent videos on the subject.
Haarp weather control. They’re now controlling the weather. Look it up.
Lily, you are always so reserved and quiet. To hear you talking about this really raises my level of concern. I made a mistake transferring to Las Vegas, that I am trying to fix right now and get back up to Seattle. Seattle is one part of the US that is the least affected by the climate changes, and is full of friends and more natural things I can find in nature to survive if need be.
Lily here in the USA we have had to store food for yrs ,,,when you buy also buy seeds package of seeds for growing food I have grown food in the winter time in the house cucumbers even squash for myself beans and other things !!! Tomatoes plants the smaller one cherry plants are great in the winter time and get some miracle grow spikes if you have them in your area. I have buckets that I plant in and some top parts that let them climb on up. Minnesota can see the fires from Canada!!!
Lily I am gluten free also and have found bread to be EXPENSIVE so make my biscuits and freeze them for hamburger buns or a treat for myself. Smaller loaves at LARGER PRICE.
isn't miracle grow what is in GMO seeds?
Linda do you have any problems with bugs, when growing inside?
@@lisakaye9340 NOT much as it is so cold outside I usually have the house sealed up tight and nothing can come in, I always am taking the pots from the inside of the room to the window for sunshine in the morning!!
Before this video I took Survival Lilly for an outdoors skills evangelist, but here I see that she really takes survival prep seriously & personally, framing her interest in a context of current events & trends. Thank you for being a teacher & role model.
Love the grocery store sound track. Getting hot in USA too. It’s called summer 🤣🤣🤣
Yeah, because 49 degrees celsius in Canada is just a very ordinary summer temperature...
* move along folks nothing unusual here *
I'm in Texas and for some strange reason my garden is still thriving right now. Usually it is done by July but we are having cooler than usual temperatures. Don't get me wrong, it's hot, just not as hot as it usually is. We've also been getting a lot of rain considering it's middle of summer
You have a very nice garden with a nice balance and your reserves is spot on.Well done Lilly.
Survival Lilly is a consummate survivalist-she does it all and she knows how to prep properly! If you watched the entire video you would know she is not advocating a run on the food!
Interesting. I knew "I" was experiencing a drought in the USA. I didn't know it was happening in Austria and Canada too.
Yes it's getting pretty dry north of Edmonton, been like this before but not this early, no normal Thunder storms that we always get, southern Alberta has the irrigation canals that were built 100 years ago so they have some supply.
I live in Georgia. It’s been cooler than average and raining all the time. Not everywhere has a drought or heat wave.
This is interesting to me because we’re I am in the USA, it has been raining for a couple of weeks straight!
@@LadyCourtney it’s been raining multiple times every week for months here, i wish the sun would come out lol
@@Wealth_Wisdom_Discernment and the humidity is awful! But at least we have water and growing plant!
Hey Lilly, I'm in Canada and this is by far the hottest year I can remember. There's 17 forest fires burning right now where I am and way more out west. No rain in sight...I think CP just did a video on the fire situation. Crazy times for sure. Stay safe out there!
im in b.c.....its unreal???!!!!!
First time this channel was recommended, love to watch the haul and preps. I love Austria, had hoped to return and visit both Austria and Bavaria before the current disruption happened. My advice - you definitely need more Caotina! If times are tough, or Winters challenging, Caotina topped with mini marsh mallows - perfection! Take care and happy prepping! Servus.
Lilly you need to stack your stackables and pile your pileables ! Lol
Hi survival Lilly, I have been in Austria and loved it. I made friends with Wolfgang at a pension on Oberdrauberg. I muss those days. I wish you the best and Happy New Year!
Meanwhile in other parts of west EU (NL, DE) we have one of the wettest summers ever. Massive rain storms.
Yes, south of the Alps it's also raining aplenty.
"Continental" Europe can have quite dry climate, though, and this was predicted to happen with global warming.
Add to that RU, China, Central mid-USA, and central Japan to the wet zones.
I agree. I believe the same is going to happen. I have been prepping over this harvest season and also get all supplies for growing Greens indoor. This week Will continue get dry foods like beans etc. I noticed when I ordered online they find it difficult get the food supplies from aboard Sweden due to various things happening with transport.
I'm glad you are putting in rain catchment. You'll need alot more than you would think. At least 1 gallon per day per person plus garden and animals. Buy a Berkey water filter. Food expiration dates are there to scare people into throwing away food and spending more money.
got a drought here in california and we have a lot of fires too. thank you for some news from your part of the world. Plenty of room for concern and everyone should start prepping!
When I go to bulk food stores, I bring storage totes in my car to put the food in so it's easier to bring into the house. Watching you just toss everything loosely in the trunk made me cringe in horror lol.
xD yeah I need to get me those totes
I can't believe anyone goes food shopping and doesn't use bags ... that's a totally alien concept to me.
@@AC-um2mk Bulk stores like that usually don't have bags because most people are buying cases of items at a time. They sometimes have empty boxes you can use or you'll have to bring your own or do like Lilly and just toss it in your car.
I've been using storage containers/totes for years when I go shopping so even though it's bagged it won't be sliding around and makes unloading quick and easy.
@@JohnFourtyTwo Fair enough. I don't go to such stores but even so I use the re-usable "bags for life" and find them excellent value for 10p each ... they last for ages and can easily carry a 24 pack beer 😉👍
@@AC-um2mk I have a few of those "bags for life" also and they're great!
Teach a man to fish and he will never go hungry. There is more then one way to prepare.
If you can afford it but 2 of sometimes next time you go instead of 1. I understand disability is barely a survival wage but there are many other ways to prepare as well aside from stocking up. Also you don’t need to buy everything all at once, over time is better for your bank account anyways.
@ Mark Edis,
Why did the puppet masters pick toilet paper for a "shortage" to stampede the cattle and not cigarettes or coca-cola?
Answer: Because every one uses toilet paper but not every one smokes or drinks coca-cola.
@@rubinmuslake I keep about 1 weeks food in reserve however my wife works for a supermarket which has its advantages
If you are going to start having really high temperatures that are not normal for your area I suggest not buying pull top cans. The extreme heat could cause pressure in the cans that may compromise the seals on the cans. The same problem could happen in reverse if you have a cold winter that could include power outages.
you can also barter tomatoes for eggs and other veggies off other people.
Everybody keeps talking about investing in gold and silver, for the coming times. When they do, I just ask them, "How does it taste?' Food is going to become the currency in the coming times...mark my words.
Lilly, if you dehydrate tomato purée, it takes up a very small space and can be rehydrated to make tomato juice, tomato sauce, tomatoes paste and passata. I'm pretty sure the powder has a very very long shelf life. Clarified butter has an indefinite shelf life.
Damn it Lilly, you forgot the beer again!!!!
Hello Survival Lilly ~ I am sure enjoying your shopping and storage tips. As I was previously a member of the Mormon Church, I had experience in food storage and it looks like you have the right ideas on a lot of your prepper pantry. You might consider getting large bags of wheat, rye and maybe corn. With this, you will need a hand grinder to grind the wheat, etc. Also, powdered milk and eggs. Keep up the good work. I sure enjoy watching you on RUclips.
Well there's been a food shortage for me for the last 3 years because I cut a lot of food on my diet so I'm already in a food shortage I guess whenever this major one hits I'll be way over prepared
Please don't stop growing onions and garlic . They have so many heathy benefits and help keep mosquitoes and ticks away . And they're perfect for bartering . Just my thoughts anyway . And was that a small pool I saw in your back yard ? That could be a perfect place to store water or even start a small hydogarden . Love your vids girl , keep up the good work ✌️
DON'T FEED the rice to chickens or birds dry! If they eat it dry and fill up on it then drink water, explodes stomach.
41 Celsius here in Ontario (Eastern Canada).

BTW, those cans of Sauerkraut and Potatoes are massive. lol.
Nice, saves you longing for a holiday in the sun that you can't have due to lockdowns and travel bans.
Love your vegetable garden, Lily! I’m growing my very first veggies now, and have 12 different kinds and I get so excited watching them grow, so do my two boys! New subbie!
Typically in Canada these days, where there is smoke there is a church set on fire.
Really? Why is that? Protesters or something? Just a question from Australia.
I know. I've prayed for you guys.
From Canada here: That fire may have been started by a train, but there are a lot of unanswered questions about that fire.
Ive been doing some of this too but I've noticed that alot of the foods now go out of date really quickly. Even the noodles and tinned stuff seems to have a short best before date. I know that you can use stuff after the best before date but the tins will no doubt rust, degrade etc
Seems to me that someone needs to start getting away from one time use, disposable supplies!
There’s also natural growing food all around you there was a time we didn’t have grocery stores
That's the biggest can of sauerkraut Ive ever seen...I'm starting to dehydrate a heap of veggies and fruit..planting citrus and other fruit trees..as well as storing seeds so I can grow vegetables all year round.
And sauerkraut will last forever.
If citrus grows in your area! good luck!
A nice can for an outdoor cooking stove in the future.
