Hey Stacy and Doug. On the website the giveaway says all of 2021.

This is the type of content we need. Not fear mongering, not condescending lectures, just super informative and presented in a way that makes me feel good. I'm seriously growing weary of many of the other prepper and homesteader channels that leave me feeling anxious so thank you!
Absolutely agree !!!
Agree!
I came to say the same thing! Thanks for this. I'm going to watch it again to be sure I got all of the info.
Thank you! ❤️
I agree, and I unsubscribed from another channel because of the constant fear. Think about it though. Some are homesteaders and live off grid because they decided a long time ago that they don't trust the current system. So they are farther along that path than the rest of us who aren't (although I really wish I had a homestead like Dough and Stacy!!)
for jars dont forget to save the ones from food you buy, instead of throwing them out just clean them up and use them to store your dried herbs and spices or smaller daily manageable quantities of flour or sugar or similar things so you dont have to get the big sack out every time you just need a scoop
I save candle jars, too. I throw bags of beans into them for extra protection.
They are also good for ferments
Spaghetti sauce jars ,pickle jars , jam jars all have pop down lids and if in good shape will seal down with hot canning stuff. You will know when they click as they cool down just like regular canning jars.
You can pre-cook rice, strain it well, and dehydrate it.
Baby food jars are great too.
Finally, a planning and prepping channel without the toxicity of doom and gloom without hope. Thank you for actually providing common sense solutions to remedy the potential problems. What a breath of fresh air. Thank God for you and your family. Please continue to share your well needed knowledge. You are very valuable and highly appreciated
The truth is, Doom and Gloom is coming so you just might as well be truthful about it. If you go read God's word, you'll read in The Book of Revelation what's coming is the worst that it's ever been and going to be read your Bible. It ain't got nothing to do with Doom and Gloom it has to do with Bible prophecy and God's word truth God's word unfolding before our eyes War III we are there and it's going to get worse before it gets better when Jesus Christ comes to get his church Praise Jesus hallelujah amen and amen
Stacy stresses to read your labels-folks, read them every single time you buy, ESPECIALLY after a packaging change! You wouldn’t believe the number of times I have purchased items I had been consuming for years only to find the ingredients had been changed without notice! And this most commonly is signaled by a change in the packaging. Whole Foods especially has changed drastically since Amazon took over. Check the labels every time!
I buy the same type of tomato paste, sometimes it has added citric acid and sometimes not, same packaging, price, label - everything. I only buy it when it is without
Sound advice
@@alia9087 Citric Acid is just Vitamin C, so there's absolutely no problem with having it added to your food, even if you're strictly organic.. If you ever freeze or dry things like peaches or apples you'll want to add citric acid to keep them from browning.
@@greeneyedlady5580 well, the source of the citric acid matters. If it’s from corn, it’s most likely from gmo corn and they do not have to disclose that on the label. There is an allowance of up to 5% non-organic matter in items that are labeled and even “certified” organic. So I would avoid items that unnecessarily contain citric acid, unless I am certain of its source.
@@greeneyedlady5580 true if its organic, but, don't have anything that may be man made
Four years ago I took out my front yard and put in a vegetable garden. This year I have added three more above ground planters on the south side of my house and am planting everything from seed. Some things are growing like crazy and others didn't take, I think blue jays ate the seeds because they were watching me and screaming to each other. I was able to get netting and that has helped. Between you folks, Good Simple Living, and Epic Gardening, I have really learned a lot. Who said you can't teach an old dog new tricks?! I will have to send you a picture once my 'Snack Mix' sunflowers bloom. Thank you for sharing your expertise. I bought an All American Sun Oven too. Something that isn't supposed to grow in Fresno, Commifornia, is raspberries but, mine are doing great this year. On my way out to pick some now.
Hey Doug and Stacy! I'm a single mother in Tennessee. We have been learning so much from y'all's videos lately and I wanted to say thank you. We're growing our first garden this year and our chickens will be here in 3 weeks! I really appreciate all of the work you both put into these videos.

If your low income or you can't afford organic don't stress about it. Especially if you food from food banks. It's better to have produce even if it's not organic then nothing at all. Sometimes you got be careful with Organic labels really do your research. Some companies are just paying for the label. Azure a great place to guy organic food and non gmo food

Can’t even buy non organic produce
We are grateful for ANY food here
FED is best fed, eh
Knowing n eating very well when we had the money makes it hard to eat “dirty”. Very very hard. I just keep saying to myself, “FED is best fed”.
Not necessarily true. Depends on the person. Pesticides killed my dog within a couple of years
@@LCLand starvation will kill a person in a matter of mos
Yesss! Buy conventional produce and skip the processed food. I don't know how it is in the US but in Europe the amount of pesticides on produce is regulated. People don't die from eating too many strawberries with pesticides. But they DO die from bad diets and crappy lifestyle.

I’m in NZ too but I don’t think we need to scare people especially in NZ and OZ we always have food banks and good social services to rely on. I’m definitely for clean and organic but I refuse to food shame people who need to feed themselves or families on not so great eco sourced food.
Im a kiwi also.
@@mariawhite1328 You think the food banks that are already struggling will be able to feed the many thousands more who will desperately need food? Don't be so naive. And it's not scaring people, it's making people aware of what's coming. If more people were aware and stored/preserved or grew their food, there'd be less of a need for food banks in the first place
Fellow American Kiwi here as well! Wish there was a space for us all to connect…
The food industry doesn't care about our health and many in the health industry don't care about the food we eat. They keep each other in business.
Thank you Stacy for being honest along with a few doctors who do try to tell us to avoid GMO foods, high fructose corn sugars, over processed oils and foods that are loaded with pesticides....including most coffee!
Yes!! Crazy times... ALSO: consider dehydrating foods!! Even frozen peas, corn and other veggies... All you need to do is RE/hydrate them into your dishes. 👍😁
"A chemical cocktail of death" 😂😂 Stacy, I absolutely love your passion! Great video content, I hope the whole world sees this!

I always suspected ramen noodles were not the best choice.
Me too! Hubby loves Ramen, instant Mac & cheese, UGH.... After hearing Stacy say this, I'm not buying them anymore!

I've been prepping since last year, very heavily, I might add. Have been learning a lot and this is my 2nd year of container gardening...last year, I started from store-bought plants and after a LOT of reading and researching, guess what? I started from seed this year! And my veggies are flourishing! I'm super stoked because before I couldn't even keep a houseplant alive 😂 Having said all that, I wanted to thank you much. I've been a subscriber for a little while now, but you never really came across my feed. Now you are. And I'm watching you (not in a creepy Sting and the Police song-kind-of way lol) more and more. I think you are one of the most genuine RUclipsrs out there and wanted to say thanks for sharing your knowledge with us. 💗 Now I need to learn how to seed save...have you done any videos/tutorials on that? Would you like to -- ~wink-wink, hint hint~~?
I think they did seed saving videos in the past.
@@melsterifficmama1808 yeah u think of it they've done it
She would show up on your feed more if you liked and/or commented. RUclips algorithms work that way. Sometimes they automatically unsub too so do check if your notifications still work
Suzanne B, BTW, did you know that song by Sting was Act describing what Our Governments We’re And Are Doing....”Watching you”. Best to you Suzanne B. Good Luck to all of Us.
Save pepper, cucumber, any veggie or fruit that has a seed. Rinse/wipe the goo off the seed, dry them and store them in a brown paper bag in a cool dark place. I planted collard greens seeds from plants I let go to seed several years ago and they grew! This is just my way of storing seeds.
Thank you, Stacy. I know all of these things and I’ve taught my kids but when the pandemic shutdown hit, you could tell there were so many who were clueless! So many didn’t know how to cook anything! Just the way I live, I’ve always been ready for anything. Taught to me by my parents and grandparents. Im 65 and my grandparents are long gone. There’s still so many things I wish I could ask them. You’re doing a great service.
One thing that sort of cracked me up at the beginning of the pandemic was, I expected to go in the store and see all the citrus and garlic and ginger gone since they’re antiviral, - I thought everyone knew that but I guess not - but noooooooo it was the toilet paper 😂
@@Therese100109 🤣i know right. I will be 65 years old next month and retiring the end of this month. ive been preparing really hard since last year. Praying for every one ,i fear the young ones are in for a rude awaking much love every body .
Yes many people will be clueless when this all goes down. Just knowing how to cook and handle/store food correctly is so important. I’ve been trying to teach my (now adult) son to cook for MANY years. He refuses to do it. I think he’s going to be sorry about this in the future. I’m a professional chef, so maybe he’s intimidated. But, that’s no excuse. 😔
If it is a rolling blackout scenario, I am not going to waste resources heating up a bit of food. Last week it was an unexpected neighborhood grid that went down in 100F plus heat. Lasted only two hours. Was at dusk so it served as a valuable dry run for mostly flashlights as I decided to get some beauty sleep. But yesterday, I opened a can of black beans, a can of diced tomatoes, chunked some cheese off a cheese block(the rest I divided into containers for the freezer)&ate Hobo Style--that was a practice from the Depression Era. Not safe to store food from a can these days, so I ate out of a soup cup. From two cans opened, I divided some up for another days serving plus one or two went in the freezer. Am trying to lose weight and eat in smaller portions. I did not mind in this hot weather eating a 'cold meal. It was easy, inexpensive, healthy and did not heat up my home. Can and always will grab a fancy meal on outings and return to cooking a hot meal when the weather cools off. Another practice meal recipe to try for if the grid goes down. Not that big of a deal for me. My daughters kids..a few are picky so I send them ideas they try out so if anything happens they do not go into complete shock. Two out of four of her kids different levels on the autistic spectrum. Talk about the challenges of preparing and planning!
Hey Stacy. Thank you for opening up my eyes when it comes to ramen noodles. I'd been stocking this up for a long while. After listening to you tell us what's in it and doing my own research. I'm purging my stash. No more ramen no more box mac and cheese. The last thing I need during an emergency situation is to purposely make myself sick!
Make sure to get some broccoli seeds to sprout. They are inexpensive, packed with nutrition, you can sprout them in the privacy of your home and they sprout in a few days.
Thanks Stacy! These videos lately have good, simple and practical advice. You make it simple. I think this is really needed right now. It is always a good time to prep. Many years ago my husband got cancer and we didn't have any income for 9 months and we had 5 children. You never know what the future holds.
Thank you Stacy ! I’ve been warning People for Years about the “Dirty Dozen”. We need to get you on Telly, Your message is So Important,And So Many Americans do not Know the Extent of The Massive Poisoning of Americans, especially in our Food. God Bless you and Doug Always.
Bobby Parish talks about the same topic.
Dirty dozen.
He has awesome video's on U tube as well.
The tops of pineapples are full of pesticides anyway. It's pointless if they're not organic. It's also pointless if these organic farms are located next to fields using pesticides. The chemicals spread out.
Yes the dirty dozen and clean 15 are good to know. Am so glad Stacy mentioned to be aware of glyphosate. A whole video could be done on that in farming.
Stacy , you look beautiful , your skin is glowing! Totally motivating as living proof to eat natural , and fermented foods .
Beautifully presented Stacy. You're a wealth of information for such a time as this. Just wanted to let you know how much you are appreciated and loved by all of us. Prayers going out to you and your beautiful family, and for your Homestead. God Bless and Shabbat Shalom.
I have been prepping for the last 5 years. Buying, dehydrating fruits and veggies...preferably organic. Started a Ruth Stout garden 5 years ago and just kept adding to the soil for the first 2 years. Have been planting in the garden and in pots for the last 3 years. Very much a learning experience and doing better every year. Bought lots of canned meat....Keystone pork, chicken and beef. Meaty soups, rice , beans. Oatmeal, quinoa, lentils, veggies, gravies, and seasonings. Dry canning dehydrated food in canning jars with oxy absorbers. Learning from lots of videos on RUclips. Thank you for the videos you do.
I grew up with my great nana who lived through the depression and two ww She tought me tons of things and aning those the importance of a stocked pantry. My hubby calls me a food collector especially when I do things like dry nettles but he agera that it is an investment and lets me be mostly. Every autumn after harvest I aim to have a year plus change worth of food stored just like great nanna.
Thank you! I've never had a mom to show me how to shop. I really appreciate your video. I don't know anything about ingredients and I'm grateful to learn. I am so happy to know where to start prepping. I am just starting to stock food. I hope your day is wonderful and happy.💙🌼
I make my own apple cider vinegar from my own apples :) I love that you talk about the dirty dozen and the clean 15 . If anybody is looking for a glorious documentary “ the need to grow” is awesome ! I buy dried beans and pressure canner them :) I got 20 pints off of 4 pounds !
In an age when jars are about $1 each, would it not be more economical and time-efficient to just buy canned beans...? You can stack the cans, too, unlike jars that don't stack very well...

I am a trainer & fitness instructor & couldn’t love this more! Great video & so true! You can exercise anywhere! Took a hike up a rocky mountain path this week & was reminded of areas I need to work on. You & your family are blessings!
I'm soo careful with reading the labels, I will often spend 2-3 hours shopping!! But at the same time running with a strict budget makes for a lengthy store trip sometimes, but idc I care more about what goes in my body. Great video Stacy!! 👏👌❤
So much great info. Thanks for sharing Stacy this is right on time. Every time you go to the store make sure to get 5 items to store away for what’s coming
I love how you did a grocery run and didn’t need one thing!!!❤️❤️❤️ Thanks for being so calm in such a big coming storm for so many people.
Last year, 2021, I decided to start a container garden..I was so excited..this was after the major freeze and rolling outages.. I knew in my heart that it was time to re- establish my gardening skills.. by mid March the garden was ready and all I had to do was plant.. by this time it was close to the end of March.. all things planted, fertilized etc ect... well, the rains came and came and came.. lots of flooding.. my garden was all but destroyed.. I cleaned it up and started over.. bore beatles ate all my squash and zucchini, ants started eating my okra and the onions.. if it wasn't one thing it was another.. I finally gave up..it was just getting so expensive...well, this year I decided to try again.. I got all the stuff planted.. bore beatles again and I treated the soil pre planting... now, the heat..100 plus degrees for a month and the temps are still climbing.. I do have a mesh shading over the plants that have survived.. ants again on my onions, which I find so weird.. two years in a row mother nature is messing my garden up.. I am so discouraged..
That must feel discouraging to have gone to all that work. Do you have any large containers you could plant in ?
Saying a prayer your efforts pay off. Blessings
Find out what kind of ants and beetles, then find a solution to mix or spray around your your garden. Don’t be discouraged, keep at it! 🙏. I mix Tabasco sauce with vinegar and liquid dish soap. Spray it all around and keeps the bugs and deer away. When it rains,I spray after. Have to keep up with it!
Thank you for sharing this and having such a calm and thoughtful demeanor. Definitely helped my anxiety about this entire situation.
Thanks Stacy great video! We live in the Pacific subduction zone where the plates usually slip every 300 years or so. We are about 150 years past that so our county says to stock up and be prepared for the time when supply trucks can't get to you. I have been prepared to live for quite some time without help because of that. Hubby thinks I'm a little nuts but if things get worse g=he will like eating what I have in storage.
If there is major event. Be prepared for a three months before you will get help from your government
My wife is the same way she dosent believe that we are going to have food shortages wont buy Extra food
@@buckjones1299 Anyone who opens their eyes to the realities of climate change will know that as the effects get worse, food shortages will be inevitable. The scorching 115° - 117° heat wave in there Pacific Northwest last June killed about 90% of the crop of Walls Walla sweet onions. That's the reason there was a shortage of them last year, and the prices for them are much higher this year. Growers had to compete for a very limited seed supply for this year's crop. This spring the PNW has been drowning with excess rain, and unusually cool temperatures. The cycles are going to continue to get more extreme.
Mary I live in the PNW. The last video I watched about the overdue quake said that it's likely that everything west of I-5 would be leveled Americans just have no conception of how incredibly devastating that would be, and the tens of billions it would cost in damages, and the tens of billions in economic activity that would be lost That's not even addressing the incredible human toll it will take! I'm a few blocks on the supposedly "good" side of I-5, but almost all of my family lives on the other side. An incredible amount of goods are carried up and down the west coast on I-5 every month. The majority of the population of the US lies within a hundred miles of our borders, and the majority of the west coast population lives within an hour or so from the ocean - largely within the major quake zone.
@@buckjones1299 what you see in the stores now is what was started last year. Chicken feed has gone from $100 a bag to $400 a bag. Farmers can’t afford to feed the world on those prices. So they only will grow or feed for themselves
Thanks for getting this message out! We are teaching this at our church. I’ve been having free classes on this in my home for years.
I love Stacy and Doug! Thank you for always being positive, but mostly for just being real. I dread the next few years for those that are not awake to the times. I am learning to ferment because of you, I am not totally there yet but open and trying. Thank you for helping a generation of book smart & high tech dummies with good knowledge.
Love you, love your channel! Your home tour started my oil lamp collection! I have even gotten a fermentation kit, but still too chicken to try it out. Thanks for all you do and all these tips. I'm in a tiny 3rd floor apt in a city. Zero dirt available. But I sprout broccoli and alfalfa and peas. I pressure can everything I can get my hands on and I'm going to dehydrate some beet and dandelion greens to see how they do. People laugh and laugh at my little rows of spinach, parsley, peppers, basil, chives, garlic and onion in jars. I call them my " add ins" I have to confess they arent all organic yet, but you can toss a hand full of any one of them in a salad or soup to increase nutrients. And easy to jazz up rice or great northern or lima beans. Keep on going and sharing with us.
Do you have an aero garden? I have two of them and can grow all of my greens, tomatoes, peppers. They have larger ones where you can really have some larger plants. Might be something to look into.
@@swcomment5542 I bought one at goodwill. My landlord hates all my things. Seriously. I got the smallest I could find. There are additional pieces that it needs, I didn't know what I was doing. I'm looking forward to getting that working!

Hello, here from Southern Cal!
Great shopping advice. I bought the Milwaukee fan, and used it today during short power outage. True gem. Thanks for all you do and give.
There should be a love button for this video. Thanks so much for taking the time to do this. A lot of the information I knew or knew in part, but getting to ‘virtually walk through the store with you’ has definitely helped me with some questions I had. Appreciate y’all!
Your channel has been amazing recently! I can feel your concern for others yet you’re turning it into such a constructive way of helping others. You’re very gentle in the way you are communicating to those who may not be entirely ready to hear these things.. God bless you for what you’re doing 🙏💕🤗
Thank you Stacey, my husband and I try to buy organic or grow our own but this dirty dozen list will help me decide for my budget as I seek ways to make the budget work. God bless you for educating and helping the people so they don't starve.
Excellent information!! This info could save a lot of people's lives and not just because of food shortages.. we are what we eat. I know it takes years to learn all this info (it did me) so thank you for sharing this information so freely. Maybe people around the world will see/wake up more if we become healthier in mind, body, and spirit. I hope and pray that is the case! Thank you and take care.
It's TIME people wake up out of their slumber!!! We're being slowly poisoned and have been for years. Been reading labels for YEARS. I remember hearing, "stay away from all inside illes. That's where all the processed, full of sugar food is!!!
I think this is the first time I have ever seen you at a grocery store. It will help some who learn by visuals. Sad to say my little garden practically burnt up from the heat and we had way too much rain that pounded it down. But that is a lesson in itself, you can't count your chickens before they hatch and no shelves of tomato sauce. Sometimes you can't count on your harvest so you go to plan B. Tks
Thank you so much for making this practical. You use an urgency in your voice, but not a panic. Panic never makes for good choices. Prepping here as we can. Hubby is on board so we are working the plan!😀. Thank you again.
Well I'm sure glad I randomly got on RUclips tonight! The more I learn the more scared I get, how is this stuff even ok to be sold to the public?
I've registered on your website but now I realize I should be commenting too. I watch all your videos but don't always comment. I learn something new in every video... even the wood lot! You have inspired me and my family so much. That is why we bought a mother/daughter on 12 acres (woodland assessed)! Love you guys :)
Great tips! I have been adding to our pantry slowly the last couple of years whenever I can. Honestly I really believe anyone can. If you can't afford groceries start going to food banks or food closets. Also freeze whatever you can that might go bad. We have a food bank near us by LEOA and sometimes people don't plants as well. I have been able to get a ton of red onions on their last leg that no one else was taking so I was able to peel and pickle them. Just some other ideas.
I've been following you two for a few years now. Your channel is always a joy to watch. being a country girl but not off grid, there is always something new to learn. Thank you very much.

This is my second year container gardening and I learned a lot from last year and watching you tube videos like you guys! I’m a single mom with 5 kids and they eat a lot!!! I’m growing cucumbers, squash, green beans, black beans, watermelons, cantaloupe, strawberries, blueberries, grapes, potatoes, sweet potatoes, carrots, broccoli, lettuce, celery, salsa peppers, and 20 tomato plants LoL I also started apple and lemon trees from seeds last year so we may have apples and lemons in 10yrs if we’re lucky 😂 My neighbors probably think I’m crazy b/c the only sun is in the front yard. I received so many plant pots from my local buy nothing group, which was super helpful! Sometimes we supplement with food banks but many times they give crap food but it’s there if we need it. But they also give lots of fresh veggies and fruits that I can dehydrate. I haven’t tried canning yet but it’s next on my list of things to learn!
THANK YOU MISS STACY………… THIS HELPS A SENIOR CITIZEN A LOT !!!!!! PLEASE DO MORE
VIDEOS LIKE THIS ……. Blessing of health 🌸
Love this video! I’ve been following you for canning for years! We found a 100 free jars and collect them from secondhand stores! I grow an urban garden that’s organic, recycle food scrapes for compost! We have a storage and cold room! Stocking up for winter! Learning how to make things like fermented mustard, ketchup and dehydrating elderberry flowers to mention a few! Thanks for all your videos!
I just have to say, I personally haven’t seen any food shortages or empty shelves. I’ve been traveling from AZ to SC to ID in the last 3 months and have yet to see bare shelves. What I have noticed, though, are much higher prices which definitely has changed my buying choices.
Wait until fall harvest.
I live in Idaho.. haven't hit us to hard yet.. just the prices.. but we have a ton of farmers and farmer's markets a lot of us shop from so it makes a difference big time. I only buy meat from our local farmer. Also fruits or vegetables of course if I'm not growing due to water shortages.
@@camus444 yes it will hit us hard when Fall hits... we rent out our 60 acres to run cattle & yep.. it will be ugly y'all! Keep the faith & God close.. that's all we need. Stay strong everyone.. stick together too.
We'll either not be able to find what we need or just won't be able to afford it.
Lots of canned food and pasta only have two rows on the shelves at a time, and no top stock.
I can no longer walk through the produce section without saying "collie flower" to myself since watching Off Grid With Doug & Stacy. Love it!
Well, here we are in January 2024 and this video is more on point than ever!
Stacy, your videos NEVER go out of significance. Hank you for caring. It shows.
So happy you showed Norwegian food, King Oscar! 💕 They have been in business since 1873. Personally I like the mackerel in tomatosauce. I grew up on that. A slice of wholeweat bread, with butter and the mackerel on top, really healthy with vitamin D and Omega-3, and tastes so good.
I need to learn to like sardines & mackerel. I never grew up eating them. My dad never cared for fish so it was never in the house.
I do eat salmon now & again, along with tuna.
@@sandrajohnson9926 I wish I liked sardines and mackerel too. ! LoL. My distaste goes back to childhood. Salmon cooked right is do-able.
This is a great video Stacy! You're such a good speaker and very precise. One thing I wanted to mention is if you were making tinctures and you're using alcohol like vodka it's most important to use only 100 proof alcohol whether you're using vodka or whiskey.
You can use 80 proof vodka, you have to let it sit longer, but is not ideal. Sometimes have to use what we can get
But yes, 100 proof is ideal bc 50%water, 50%alcohol. Best ratio. Good advice you shared
@@Angela_Alaimo Are you suggesting I water down the Everclear I bought for making tinctures?
@@greeneyedlady5580 I am not because I wouldn't know what amounts you would need to get the water+alcohol ratio. Pint? Quart? If you are using everclear you will need to follow their recipe. I can tell you the complicated instructions when using everclear? You end up with 50% water, 50% alcohol, which is the exact same thing you get using 100 proof vodka, without all that math.
That's why I keep it simple with fresh plants and 100 proof vodka
@@Angela_Alaimo I wasn't asking you for a recipe. I was asking is their really a problem with using a higher proof alcohol for making tinctures? Does it actually have to have a bunch of water included for some reason?
@@greeneyedlady5580 The higher proof alcohol has almost no water in it. 190 proof everclear is almost all alcohol, so you miss out on extracting the water soluble properties in your plants. The herbalists I've seen using everclear then use recipes and ratios to mix in water when the tincture is ready to get the same ratio of 50% water 50% alcohol that you can get by just using 100 proof vodka. But that's one of the ways they make money, acting as if making tinctures is difficult when it isn't. They even will use very scientific looking equipment when all you really need is a jar, scissors to cut up your herbs a bit, and 100 proof vodka to fill said jar.
Shout out from Australia loving your info thanks Doug and Stacey
I do appreciate you guys. Your content is always productive. I live just outside St. Louis and never learned how to cook from scratch or how to make real food taste good. Since watching your journey for the last few years I’ve learned a lot. I’m in the process of converting from a cook that has said, “If it comes from a box, can or bag with directions I can make it” to cooking healthy foods. I’m so happy you read the ingredients on these products and I learned that “enriched” is basically dead food. May God continue to keep you and protect you, in Jesus name, Amen 🙏.
Ty Doug and Stacy:) we live in western New York. So far shelves are full, but as we know the shelves will be empty soon. Ty for helping us to be prepared. We really need God. Please Lord help us.
It’s good to see a fellow Western New Yorker! I agree no shortages yet but they’re coming. ♥️👍🙏🇺🇸🤓
The God who watches over the sparrow will watch over His own but I fear His common grace is waning.
Me 3 another western New Yorker that with it and prepping.
We live southern central New York state. Our stores are well stocked. But I have a funny feeling that won't last much longer
@@Msaltares91 yeah another person who knows what’s going on!♥️
Hi Stacy, Thank you for the practical non-panicked advice! I appreciate it!
So much great information in such a short amount of time. I hope everyone remembers to add those spices to your long term storage it helps everything taste better. Thank you so much for all your hard work.
Hi Stacy and Mr. Doug, thank you so very much for the information. I enjoy your channel and look forward to the fermenting cook book. Stacy thank you for the EWG website. I went to their site and I was shocked to discover in their EWG’s 2022 Shopper’s Guide to Pesticides in Produce, under the heading "New Findings" they have removed broccoli, cauliflower and eggplant off the Clean 15 list. Their website is a fountain of information. I had absolutely no idea the EWG organization even existed. Thank you again for what you guys are doing on your channel, and for your willingness to share the information.
Stacy thank you for such a amazing video. I'm seriously thinking about my exit out of the hustle and bustle and starting a homestead but I never thought about the stock pilling and preparation of food shortage now. your video has really made me start thinking and you have inspired me, thank you
Hi Stacey thank for the safe list and the dirty dozen list very helpful information thanks again for sharing this video with everyone.
Thank you. I have shared this one and the last one. She has a pantry now. Thanks for the canning note at the end too. She needs all the encouragements she can get! 💕
Stacy how about a video on meat, fish, chicken when you don't have your own animals?
I did a little research on Smithfield’s closing. What I discovered was the company itself is not shutting down but did announce that it was closing a plant in California next year because it is too expensive to do business there. However, as scary as that is, it is not the worse part. Smithfield’s is owned by the Chinese Co WP Group. Not only does this company own Smithfield’s but it also owns several American brand food companies, such as Tyson, Bob Evans, Johnston. Scary huh?
It's ridiculous to let foreign places own our food stuff or land for that matter
What better way to control the populace, than for the communist’s to control the food.
Thanks for alerting us
Oh my gosh...I found your channel by accident and I just can't get enough! I'm so excited. I'm learning so much it is amazing. My sister is a naturopath and I've learned a lot of the things you are teaching about foods from her, but NO ONE believes me when I share these things with my friends and people look at me like I've lost my mind. I'm so thrilled to have found you guys. I live in an apartment now, so there is a lot I will not be able to do, but there is a lot I can do that I haven't been. So, I will be a better prepared and healthier person thanks to your channel.
I plan to start fermenting some veggies and foods and you mentioned oxygen absorbers several times. Where in the world can I get those? I haven't a clue where to even begin the search! Thanks for any help you can give.
I believe Amazon sells the absorbers. Good luck. Sorry no one got back to u before now. I am just watching the video now. And reading a few chats...Take Care
That’s awesome! Natural way the way our good Father intended
Stacy, your recent videos on surviving these times are excellent for people who are starting and even the old timers can use a refresher or reminder of something they may have forgotten - please be aware that many can't tolerate fermented anything - even a pickle. Some can, same can't. Also, for some crazy reason - people are becoming allergic to ginger, turmeric, etc.
So nice to have a community of like minded people. I did know all of these but the various uses for each I had not thought of. Thanks for another informative video. Love you guys🥰❤❤
Thank you, Stacy! I could watch you all day! What size canning jars do you use for storing your herbs and what size oxygen absorbers?
Thank you Stacy! This video was great! I have been telling so many people about your channel and I'm so happy to say that my sister loves your videos. We can finally talk about all she's learned from you and Doug. Thank you again for always being that light in the darkness with your informative and never scary videos about preparedness.
Good info, thanks! Just wondering if you have a video on what you do for skincare?
Thanks Stacey for bringing us on this important trolley journey to health and food security. 🍀💚🍀💚🍀
The Rockstar in this video is you. I don't comment enough but I do watch many of your videos and have learned so much. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Love you both , especially for the information you offer. Some of us seniors however live on social security with SNAP. SNAP now is 20.00 per month. Don't think one can stock up on much with that for food budget. I believe things will get better , but now I must trust the Lord for food.
Most farmers markets double the SNAP spent. If you want to spend $20.00 it will buy $40.00 worth of produce. I'm in Illinois.
And he will definitely come through! He has infinite resources and always comes through when there’s a gap ❤️
@@madelinehall8944 ny doesn’t double but for every $10 spent they give $2 extra at the downtown farmers market - in Roch anyway.
Eating only on food stamps is impossible, let alone stock up
Too true
Look to Him, for sure
I appreciate the information shared in this video and a lot of people need to hear these things. But, I don't see the "budget" aspect in the video (other than sardines). I understand reading the labels and what to look for, I understand making sure to clean the product well and I understand the organic versus conventional items. However, organic is ALWAYS going to be more expensive, granted it is better for you, however, a lot of people are struggling right now and cannot afford organic shopping.
I feel the same way. Love Stacy just feel this is a bit out of touch with the reality facing most right now. Non organic items are through the roof and the prices for organic are simply out of reach for most. Very sad but true
scary times ahead of us no doubt but i keep my faith in God 🙏🏻
Exactly, how much did Elijah have stored up?
Finally a prepping vid that doesn't suggest buying Spam or re canning Walmart canned vegetables!! Thank u Stacy!!
U reminded me of myself with the labels! I've been reading labels for years. It amazes me that so many still do not.
Thank u for doing what u do 😊👍
We were given some Uncle Ben's rice recently and I noticed on the ingredient side of the box it said it was made with bio-engineered ingredients. Needless to say, it went in the trash.
I am from Denmark Europe. We dont see lack of food right now. But prices are going up, up and up!! Fluel, electricity, water and food!
and people are beginning to struggle.
I have been storing up for years! And I still am! Been growing my garden for years. Thank you for this video. God bless 🌹
WOW this is SO enlightening and helpful!! Thank you both very much for doing all you do only all the time! What a blessing...
Thanks so much for taking the time to do this vid! I have been working on my preparedness, and now I am equipped to focus better on getting what we need.
Thank you Stacy for all you do. God bless your family💜
Great video! I knew a lot of this, but learned even more new things! Thank you! Question: Where do you purchase the oxygen absorbers?
Hi Doug and Stacy
I'm going through financial hardship
So every week I go to the food pantry pick up food .
There's a food pantry in my area it doesn't even have any fresh fruit to choose from just canned vegetable and fruit. At least it's something
So be thankful that you can go out and grocery shop when others can't. I think grocery shopping now a luxury especially buying organic items.
I do grow my own vegetables, herbs and fruit on my small homestead so that helps. And I have chickens that lay eggs.
I am getting stock up but relying on food pantries
I will give back to the community for helping me out at this difficult time.
Very blessed
It's also been very hot here down in the south. We have another week of this ugh...
My central air been broken for years can't afford to get it fixed. My window AC can't keep up with the heat and it's 88 degrees in my house
Fans don't help they just blow around hot air It's not a good situation keeping hydrate just laying low for the time being
Q
Congratulations!
I LOVE ❤️ how humble you ARE
Good for you...that you use food pantries to help yourself out.
Very very insightful and SMART.
Q ❤️
I would take some of those canned fruits , put them through the blender and get small dixie cups, freeze the fruit and make popcicles to help keep you cool and have a sweet treat.
@@EJLily686 sounds like an interesting idea
Keep spray bottles in fridge to spritz on u. Wear wet washcloths around ur neck. Sit with the fan right on u.
I’ve lived it, it’s brutal. Ppl have no idea how awful it is.
Do try black fabric or paper over windows and close off small area or room to put the window AC so u can cool down. We had none. But knowing u can cool off helps to endure the heat while ur working or cooking, etc.
I'm wondering if I should dig out a small root cellar/shelter just in case...
Hey Doug I just wanted to wish you a happy Father's day tomorrow man so have a blessed one
Wow I’ve never heard of this and I’ve been gardening and studying old ways for a long time. The video I watched right before your was talking about the fertilizer shortage that is happening right now and that it’s 75% more expensive right now! Your timing is impeccable! ❤️ Thanks Stacy
Way to go Stacy! 👍 Field Trip to the store. Free AC too! 😆
From a brewer's point of view, the dextrose fruit might be an interesting thing with which to experiment.
Thank You so much for the info! I’m going to start looking at labels! I paused you and went and looked at my rice labels ,uh oh ! Enriched ☹️ . I appreciate you letting us know about this . My daughter said " Mom I’ve been telling you about this already!”
I better pay attention to her more often! Lol Take Care and stay safe ! Ps the news is talking about possibly mandatory masks
again here in SoCal 😷😷😷
Hi pretty
This was EXCELLENT! I’m 75 and ex nurse. Just loved this!! SO well done! We don’t have same brands on west coast but you explained SO much that is so
Important to share w less knowledgable people re gmos etc👏🏻👏🏻♥️👏🏻👏🏻
I found you guys this fall, so glad I did! I have leared so much from you, thank you, thank you!!! Stacy and Doug, you are wonderful teachers! Such good common sence. I get excited watching your videos.
While I appreciate your review on good choices to stockpile, you have to understand many people cannot afford the "organic" products which can be significantly higher priced than their store brand counterparts. Yes, we should be looking to get the most nutrient dense foods we can. But we must be realistic that many people just cannot afford the better options.
And as she said you pay for it now or at the doctor
For many years I was on the tightest grocery budget of anyone I knew. What got us through was eating rice and beans for at least one of our meals, every single day. We no longer have financial constraints yet continue this habit because we actually enjoy rice and beans so much! I make a huge pot of them each week and rotate between red beans, black, pintos, etc for variety. We also vary the way we eat rice and beans...quevos rancheros, burritos, different kinds of rice, etc. I sprout the beans as my husband has Crohn's, and he went from disliking beans to enjoying them so much, he takes them on his business trips! This eating habit freed money for other food such as organic produce, when we could barely make ends meet.
