- A quick slideshow of the fitting of a Heljan Turntable. And the finished job with my Clun Castle happy to demonstrate. Still a bit more fine adjustment and then to try and control it via the Z21.
Fantastic job Geoff, many thanks for the video.
Cheers Stevey.
Cracking job Geoff, very well put together.Richard
Cheers Richard, it is just an insight to how I did it. It ended up easier than the instructions were to understand 🤨 regards, Geoff
Great video showing how to fit the turntable and it works too ......Peter
Thanks Peter, it was just a bit of a quickie, in fact I was too lazy to get my video camera so took the movie bit on my pocket camera which I did the stills with. Just wanted to show it off for now. regards, Geoff.
WOW that is a fab turntable. Operations is so silent and lines up beautifully =D
Yeah, cheers Jason, I was quite surprised how quiet it is, turn the loco sound off and you will hear it but not anything like the Hornby and Peco ones.
Great looking turn table. You did a very nice install Geoff. thanks for sharing, Chuck RVRR
Thanks Chuck, got some way to match your layout though, regards, Geoff
Hi Geoff, just came across your video after researching this turntable option and purchasing one recently. Hoping to test it before installation if feasible to do so, then have guidance on fitting for real in the near future. Please may I message again if I have any queries? Also, I'm delighted to see your sound loco ran straight in/off without drop out; didn't think this was possible with this option! 🤦🏻♂️😌
No problem with messaging me or even email me. geoff@jumblelaneprinting.co.uk if you want anytime. As for the loco going on and off without dropout if sound or lights this is a trick. The turntable can be turned to desired position and if the position you require it to go to has to go through the dead spot then select the position again and send it to the same position. In operation that means once it goes to desired position then send it there again and it will turn 180 degrees. Then drive your loco on and once in position send it to the desired new position. Because the turntable was entered on the tail end the head end did not have to go far to the new desired position and hence not through the dead spot. This was covered on another video later on. Good luck and contact me if you need to.
Just a quick question. Do the lines on the diagram with the degree markings represent the centre of the track or does the track fit between them?
Hi, the degree markings don’t really have any significance to be honest. It is essential that all lines coming onto the turntable point directly to the centre. The position around the turntable can be anywhere except the dead point position which is marked on the sheet of paper. Hope that helps, regards, Geoff
@@JumbleLaneThanks. That's very helpful.
My my how the table's have turned. That works a treat.
Hi, Completely chuffed so to speak, it has surprised me how good it is, now I have got it working under the instruction of the Z21 (see video #10 just uploaded) About the best birthday present I have had in years and its not my birthday until next month!!!. Regards, Geoff.
Hi Geoff nice video of how to install & set up a turntable it's looking great may need some tips if I decide to install one on my layout that will be fun. Regards George..
Hi George, no problem, check out my previous video at the end my email address is on there contact me anytime. Regards, Geoff.
Hi Geoff thanks for your reply, and if I do decide to have a turntable when I get to that stage I will be sure to email you. Thank a lot. Regards George..
Great video. Works beautifully. Can you tell me the depth of the turntable please. I have been thinking about getting this turntable for my layout. Thanks Ritchie
Hi Ritchie, the instructions state that you should allow for 2 1/4" (57mm) clearance below the pit. It is basically a void under my baseboard so it wasn't an issue. If you want I can scan the instructions and email them to you or even fax them, just let me know, details for email address in the ABOUT tab. Regards, Geoff.
Nice one Geoff....bit better than the crappy dapol one I’m making 😱. .......regards Fred
Cheers Fred, the thing is though, you sit with your skills and make something out of it and a very good job too. Regards, Geoff.
Your track laying is coming along a treat Geoff and the turntable looks amazing. Is it straight out of the box and on to the layout with it? If so, beats the Peco one hands down I reckon. Liking the new end credits too. Paul
Galgorm Hall hi, yes it’s straight out of the box, not as cheap as the peco one, 195 plus p+p from Hattons (the best price I found). It is complete with a controller which you have to leave connected, see next video I posted today showing operation from Z21. There are also small items to fit to the bridge including a small gantry fitting centrally over the bridge. Regards, Geoff.
thank you for subscribing to me how is, the turntable working
we are looking for one for the layout
Jennifer White train bug
Hi Jennifer, The turntable is good, if you are looking for one I think the Walthers is the same product
