girl when I started making real money from my crochet business at craft shows people started hating HARD I was so shocked it was so difficult for me to learn that I don’t need to prove myself to anyone. Because I’m making more than I ever did with any job and I think they’re just mad bc they don’t believe they can do it 😭
I totally understand that feeling! I've certainly met some people who were not at all supportive of me (and occasionally hostile) who I suspect were more dissatisfied that they have not pursued their own passion! I'm so happy to hear about your success :) I can't wait to hear about all the more success you'll continue to have! ❤️
I'm currently stocking up for my small business that I've been thinking for at least 3-5 years. I'm going to start it only being local (like in my country, which is finland) at FIRST, but maybe after a few years I'll be able to sell aboard online! I'm going to be selling a lot of handmade things, such as crochet, handmade cleaning stuff (like egological sprays, toilet bombs etc), and candles! I'm 20, and due to my autism, I'm not able to work a traditional 9-5 job, hence why I'm starting this! This video was so helpful, thanks!
You are such an encouragement to me! I don’t feel any joy at my current job and I want to make a living selling my crochet products. I recently posted some plushies I made for a friend and I got 4 requests for orders! I KNOW I can do this! I WANT to do this!!! I NEED to find joy again!❤
Your pricing calendar is the best thing I have gotten for my crochet business. It is so easy to use and super helpful. Definitely recommend. It makes pricing super easy
I have 21/2 years before I can retire from my corporate job. Don’t get me wrong I love what I do but honestly I am ready to embark on the next season of my life. I am going to start this year with craft shows and build from there. You are such a breath of fresh air to watch. Love your personality and enthusiasm. Sometimes my husband watches with me. It’s like hanging out with our daughters. Thank you for everything you share with this community. It is greatly appreciated 🙏🏻

The pricing calculator is honestly life-changing. I am okay at calculating my costs to get to a price point I deem fair for my work, but your spreadsheet made the whole process infinitely quicker and less stressful so I could focus on other parts of my business :) Thank you for all that you do for the community!
Oh my gosh, thank you so much for the ringing endorsement!! :) I'm so happy I've been able to help you with the Calculator, and I'm so glad it's enabled you to take your business even further!
At my very first craft fair, I made more in 4 hours than I do teaching preschool in two weeks. Obviously that doesn’t take into account the time making things but it’s something I enjoy doing so it’s better for me.
That's so amazing to hear!! ❤️ And you are so right that there is a lot of prep time that goes on before a market, which is why it's so important to take the time cost into consideration for your prices!
you're so right, we are besties LOL. I did three craft shows last year thanks to your inspiration and have already learned a lot from them. My goal this year is to keep doing those but also learn about writing digital patterns to sell for passive income. I don't know if you'd be interested in doing a video on product photography tips but I would love any pointers you have! That's been a hurdle for me with my etsy shop is trying to figure out good photography.
You are so refreshing😍I’m a crochetpeneur and can say it is very possible to make money with a crochet business. Another avenue that works for me is having products in boutiques and crocheting wholesale for specific businesses. Thanks for sharing your crochet journey❤
Thank you for this video! This video came at the perfect time for me just when I’ve started to doubt myself bc of how slow things are after the holidays.
❤️❤️ I absolutely have my slow periods, too! They can be tough, but what's amazing is that you can start to orient your seasonal schedule around that! For example, my slow season is definitely spring and summer, so I tend to prep during those times for my busy seasons, fall and winter, which allows me to absolutely nail them!
The folks trying to discredit you simply haven't figured out the formula yet and they have not watched your videos to understand that you have a method to be profitable. They don't want to see because they are jelly that you figured it out. Love your videos. I bought all your patterns, calculator, etc when you had your sale and my booth will be heavily inspired by yours. No shame in my game-I need to make money! I'm pretty much disabled, but what I could get in disability won't touch the bills, so I'm getting my hustle on.
I've signed up for my first three craft shows this year! So excited to see how they go and to hopefully learn and grow! Love your constant words of encouragement!
I love that you can make it your business. In my country, which is extremely frugal, we're known for it, it's not possible as a fulltime job. But as a side hustle it is possible, but not hugely profitable.
Your energy is amazing! 🤩 I am not ready to start but I AM READY now. I am going to learn more about markets for income as well as selling online. Congratulations on making the decision to go back to school!!! 🎉👏
Thank you for this! I started my business sept 2023, had a rough start out of 4 craft shows only one made money, however, the one was AWESOME! The 3 others got me feeling like maybe I just got lucky on the one, I am working on a website for selling now and hoping to get more consistency this year. Your video gives me hope, Thank You!❤️
I'm so glad I'm able to help in any way I can! ❤️ I'm so excited you had that great show!! Often, there are certain identifiable elements about shows that have a huge impact on the financial outcome, such as the expected type of person to be shopping there, and how your brand fits in with their values!
I am 12, and I want to start my own crochet business, but I am a little scared that I might end up losing money or getting scammed cause I'm just a kid. I even feel like giving up. What do you think I should do pls?
I actually started a website but I don't have much on the site yet. I am gradually adding things. I will likely have mostly macrame and crochet items there, oh and probably bags. One of my problems is I'm not use to creating my own crochet patterns, I do create my own hats, and have done blankets, scarves, dishcloths and placemats. I have found that there are designers who are ok with us selling things made with their patterns as long as we give them credit for the design and you don't mass produce their stuff. I still haven't made someone else's pattern to sell. I might make some plushies to sell on my website. It's slow to build up my inventory since I'm trying to brainstorm things to make. Anyway, I just took the plunge, otherwise I might have changed my mind. I might try Etsy but I have heard mixed reviews about that. Thanks again for all your videos. I appreciate your time.
That's so exciting that you're building up your website!! :) That is a hard task, and I commend you! A big component of it is building up an ability to generate traffic toward it, as well! As far as others' patterns, many (if not most) creators are ok with people selling those items, like you said! So long as the proper credit is given!
@camryns_cute_creations I have actually had plenty of traffic, not sure how since I haven't done a lot of promotion or advertising it. I just don't have much inventory, so there are no sales yet. I am happy to give credit if I use someone else's patterns. Unfortunately, not all of us are pattern designers, so I personally appreciate those who share their patterns and allow us to sell things we make with those patterns. I am definitely experimenting with designing things. I have been mostly focused on macrame right now. I'm just using up supplies I have before ordering more. So what sells well in crochet, other than plushies? I have found very few crochet market videos that aren't just selling plushies. In your research, have you found other crochet items that sell well?
I’m hoping to try markets this year, but I’m so new to this type of craft that I don’t know if I dare 😂 Your tips are always so inspiring and helpful ❤
Hiding ends of my first temperature blanket as I watch. I see why you say to work in them as you go. Working on two weeks worth, and that is even too much. The temperature blanket is so much fun!
I'd love to see a video on how you got certified as a crochet teacher, but also one on your pattern making process! I love crocheting and want to make my own patterns but am not totally sure how to start.
I’ve also realized that finding patterns that are quick to make is key. You can usually tell if you know what to look for. I recently found a small etsy shop that has a few animal patterns that are under an hour to make. Trying to find others who also design with people who sell their handmade stuff in mind.
There are a lot of RUclips crochet channels doing market prep and 'how many can I make in an hour' type videos. They'll usually link to the paid pattern or the blog with the pattern. I've tried a few and while their 20 minutes make takes me almost an hour the first time around I can usually speed that up by doing the pattern a few times. There are a few crocheters who just zip through and my time is at 35 minutes vs their 20, but that's still almost two an hour. I really like watching those videos. 🤷♀️ Maybe you would too.
Thank you so much for this. I’m preparing to retire from my corporate job too and preparing myself. I was just asked if I charge people for the items I make. It was like I was made to feel bad because I did. As if what I’m doing with my crochet was not out of love because I do charge. Thank you for reminding me to stay the course and get my business launched 🎉❤
I am thinking of starting a crochet business. I want to start by selling physical products on a shopify store. I am currently doing research into the profitability of a crochet business and I am feeling much better about that aspect after watching this video. :)
I am planning on opening an online shop in some form this year, but this is the second video I've seen today talking about teaching crafts/crochet and I am really thinking about it! My biggest hesitation in teaching crochet specifically is that I am left handed, and I know from my experience that it's really hard to learn from someone that doesn't do it with the same hand you do... I could be THE left handed crochet teacher, but that would limit my market a lot 😅
You make a great point about being THE left handed coach! While certainly there are more right handed people, you should also consider that that means most left handed people don't have a coach, so you could be that person!! It's always a great idea to find your niche and grow to the top there and then expand out!!
Hi Camryn! I have a question for you! I'd like to start a Facebook/Instagram shop, but I was curious for your opinion: Should I do an Etsy Store instead, not do an Etsy Storen at all, or do an Etsy Store alongside my Insta Business? I do thoroughly plan on doing some Social Media and Craft Shows to help promote my business but what are your thoughts?
Personally, I've stepped away from Etsy. However, if you plan on generating your own traffic (which is awesome!) then I would pick the platform which would have the least amount of fees attached. If you are directing people toward your store, there is no need to have multiple platforms, rather just the one that is most profitable!
Crochet has been only a hobby up to this point, but I am only JUST starting to dip my feet in, take the plunge and try to sell my items online this year within Australia. Still on the fence to go on to Etsy or something to do international... Not up to markets yet, but you're very inspiring to consider it down the track!!!
I really appreciate you 💗💗💗 I’m want to finish my website and actually start using it. I also want to start a RUclips channel. We are absolutely besties
Teaching crochet is something I've been considering, but I'm struggling with pricing. Would definitely appreciate your thoughts and ideas on the process!
I would like to see how you made your youtube channel.. I Am just starting craft shows and im much older. but going to go for it! Thanks for the inspiration!
I'm happy for you. Those who are jealous need to do something about their own lives instead of focusing on your success negatively. Well done girl. I actually want to have my own channel. 😂
You are such a darn delightful person and I love how you handled this. I love my crochet about my country doesn't have craft shows. They aren't permitted except once a year arranged by the town. I attended and there were three cricketers. I talked with the vendors and visited the ed of the day again to see the results. They had barely made enough to cover the table. So if you were me what would you do? Which avenue would you choose. I love in europe
That is a difficult situation, to be sure! If selling physically at the market isn't anticipated to be a success, I would look for opportunities online, where you could be selling all year!
I love this ❤ I’ve been crocheting for 14 years and completely free style. I suffer from Extreme Depression and Anxiety and I struggle at my job. My dream is too be able to get audience/traffic on my RUclips channel and tiktok/instagram for my Crochet business. I would die to be able to do this full time, unfortunately in my state pretty much everyone is cheap (I got told a 4 hour purse for $15 was too much by a lot of people here) so I struggle to get commissions locally 😂 my first craft show was a bust because of the amount of people also saying that. Made $30 and it was 6 hours event 😂😊
Thanks for this. Such a boost in confidence and great points! Can you talk about the You tube aspect... been wanting to just nervous to jump in. And DO TELL about this Crochet certificate deal...please...wow.
Ok so I’ve been at it forever but not super motivated because i just haven’t had to be. But I do have a pattern up on Etsy and I have sold a handful which was super exciting. I have several others in Canva waiting for me to clean up and post. I also went on the neighborhood app and asked if anyone was interested in learning knitting or crocheting and I got an amazing response. Now I’m just a little nervous to call up local cafes and see if they will let me do that there. I mean, I guess I could do it in my home but i live in an apartment. I think sometimes I’m just afraid to succeed. Also, with the teaching classes, I’m not sure how much to charge or even the actual process in how to teach. But this WILL be my year. I have a couple of craft shows planned too.
Hi Camryn I’ve been crocheting for years but ts only been the last year I’ve been. Improving my skills. want hopefully next year be able to do a craft show for the first time. Iam only able to make blankets scarfs purses pencil holders makeup bag. I want to learn to make clothing items hoping you could give some advice Thank you Debra
The fact people are saying Peyton (a teacher) makes all the money is crazy 😂 teachers are terribly underpaid in America. Plus you work your butt off! People don’t understand that if they’re saying these things 💕
It certainly is a point of frustration how undervalued teachers seem to be right now!! It takes so much work - emotionally, physically, and intellectually - with a disproportionate reward!
1. How do you make sure that you do not copyright somebody else’s pattern? Often I use parts of one pattern with parts of another pattern. 2. I am left-handed so I crochet differently. Do you feel that there’s a market in crocheting other peoples work left-handed?
All craft shows in toronto want $200+ to get in for one day. When I add the yarn price to that never mind the tent and setup it scares me out of doing it.
Some can be really expensive! Have you visited some of the shows to try and analyze how you expect you'd realistically do at one of the shows?? You may be surprised to find that you'd likely make that back!
@camryns_cute_creations I know I can make more than $200. My concern is making a wage, paying for supplies, profit to roll into the business, and the table fee. Without wanting to buy or rent a tend and sand bag, lol. I don't disagree with you that at the right markets for the right price points we can earn money but when the hosts are charging us more than 2 days regualr pay to participate in a one day event it can feel like the game is rigged. It's just my opinion and not in any way a reflection of your own experience, which I 100% believe in. I do still attempt to participate, don't get me wrong, but there are a lot of factors to consider, and like you said, they are all different. Often not worth what they charge. I have been doing crochet sales since 2015, and for my city, this is the most expensive events have ever been.
I’ve been doing craft shows for almost a year now and I still am not doing well. It’s getting super discouraging and I don’t want to quit because I love making stuff but at what point do you say this isn’t working? I work on my mindset even but when you have show after show where you make $50 more than what you paid to be there it’s hard not to feel let down. If you have anything to help please share.
I just begin to crochet as hobby and thought well side income is not bad BUT i am not creative person like i am type of person who cant draw star without that shape of star, just got stick as hands 😂 so i got genuine question, can i actually sell from the design that i follow tutorial from or we can only sell the design we create ?
In many (if not most) cases, you can sell items you've made using other creators' patterns, so long as you are giving the appropriate credit! For example, when I'm selling the chickens I make at a market, I never claim the pattern as my own and always give credit to OakandMarlow when asked. Additionally, I always make sure to credit the pattern to them when talking about it online! Usually, people will state what they are OK with in the pattern! For mine, I am absolutely ok with people making my patterns and selling them! However, it would not be ok to claim the pattern as their own!
@@camryns_cute_creations Ooohhh, means that i have to ask first the pattern creator if this pattern is okay to sell and always have to give the credit where its due. Thank you, thank you sooooo much for the answers 🙆♀
Giiiirl. I've been saying I want to do market for the last... however many years. YOU should create another stream.... to help lost souls like me figure out the business side of it in the state the person resides in. That's where I get lost lol. I would pay you to help my lost soul get on track with the paperwork side of it hahaha. Just... throwing it out there LOL.
That's certainly something I've considered, and while I'm not quite ready to go down that path yet, I totally understand how much people such as yourself would appreciate that kind of help, because I absolutely get lost in the paperwork side of it, too!! 😂❤️ Luckily, my husband is able to help me out a lot, and I hope I can pass on those skills to y'all in some way too!
ONE OF MY FEAR IN SELLING ON LINE IS THAT.. WHAT IF THEY ORDER 5 OF ONE ITEM AND THEY WANT THEM IN 5 DAYS???? I WOUKDNT BE ABLE TO MAKE THEM. SOOOO HOW DO YOU MANAGE THAT????
I've yet to make any serious money at craft sales. I have broken even but that's about it. I don't think it's a problem with what I'm making. I get a lot of compliments on my items, but not many sales. I did buy your velvet hat pattern but had issues with the sizing. I emailed you about the issues but did not receive a reply. Guessing you've been busy, or perhaps I had the email address wrong (although it didn't bounce back).
Hi there! I'm so sorry if I've missed your email! I in no way want you to feel disrespected, and would absolutely love to help you the best I can! I was a little behind on emails, and hopefully caught your email today! If I haven't responded to you yet, please send me another at camrynscutecreations@gmail.com and I will keep an eye out! If you know any people who do or have done shows, it would be awesome to ask them! Otherwise, I'd check out FB as many vendors and events create groups!
i know of 1 person so i tried fb groups but its very spread out over several states so its hard to find ones in my specific area. even if the group says my city or state it could be up to 5 hours away!! do you travel a lot for crafts shows? im just trying to grow my socials and etsy atm. hopefully i start growing soon!

Do it! You'll never know until you try 😊
I absolutely hope you try it!! Markets truly are one of my favorite things about doing what I do :) ❤️
Hiding ends of my first temperature blanket as I watch. I see why you say to work in them as you go. Working on two weeks worth, and that is even too much. The temperature blanket is so much fun!
Oh my gosh, even one week is just so much!! I commend you! 😂❤️
I'd love to see a video on how you got certified as a crochet teacher, but also one on your pattern making process! I love crocheting and want to make my own patterns but am not totally sure how to start.
Thank you for the suggestions! Those would make excellent and fun videos!
I’m so happy for your growth. I feel like I just met you yesterday but I’ve been waiting for you to do a video specifically with this title ❤🎉
❤️❤️ Thank you for your kind words! :)
I’ve also realized that finding patterns that are quick to make is key. You can usually tell if you know what to look for. I recently found a small etsy shop that has a few animal patterns that are under an hour to make. Trying to find others who also design with people who sell their handmade stuff in mind.
I absolutely agree! Faster patterns tend to be more profitable!! The time cost is one of the largest for items, so getting that down is always great!
❤️❤️ I'm so excited for you!! Please never feel bad for turning your love of crochet into a profession! :)
I am prepping for my second craft show, but i want to pursue youtube and teaching crochet classes. Thank you Camryn!
This year in my crochet business I am looking at digital patterns, thank you Camry for the inspiration has always❤
That's such an awesome goal!! Do you have any patterns in mind that you're wanting to create? :) (Not that you have to spoil anything!!)
I'd like to start a Facebook/Instagram shop, but I was curious for your opinion:
Should I do an Etsy Store instead, not do an Etsy Storen at all, or do an Etsy Store alongside my Insta Business? I do thoroughly plan on doing some Social Media and Craft Shows to help promote my business but what are your thoughts?
Personally, I've stepped away from Etsy. However, if you plan on generating your own traffic (which is awesome!) then I would pick the platform which would have the least amount of fees attached. If you are directing people toward your store, there is no need to have multiple platforms, rather just the one that is most profitable!
@@camryns_cute_creations Okay! Thanks!
I'd love to watch a video on what your experience with the certification was! Please share!
I hope to talk more about that with y'all soon in the future! :) It was so fun!
I would like a video on how you got certified to teach!!!!😊
I would love to talk about that more with y'all in a future video!!
I'm so excited for you to grow your hobby into something that can help support you!! :) If you ever have any questions, never hesitate to ask!!
@@camryns_cute_creations thanks! ☺️
I really appreciate you 💗💗💗 I’m want to finish my website and actually start using it. I also want to start a RUclips channel. We are absolutely besties
I think it'd be so fun for you to start a YT channel!! :)
Teaching crochet is something I've been considering, but I'm struggling with pricing. Would definitely appreciate your thoughts and ideas on the process!
The pricing for something like classes is something I wrestle with, too! I'd love to talk more about it!
I would like to see how you made your youtube channel.. I Am just starting craft shows and im much older. but going to go for it! Thanks for the inspiration!
I'm so excited you're starting to do craft shows!! :) I love the energy you're bringing! ❤️
I'm happy for you. Those who are jealous need to do something about their own lives instead of focusing on your success negatively. Well done girl. I actually want to have my own channel. 😂
Yes please!! tips on how to make income from RUclips with crochet 😀
That is certainly a topic I would like to discuss with y'all in the future!
@@camryns_cute_creations yay I am looking forward to it!
Would love to hear about getting accredited as a crochet teacher 🤔
I would really love to talk more about that sometime! It's on the long list of planned videos 😂❤️
Planning on starting to teach this year!
That's so exciting!! People want to learn, and there aren't enough teachers out there!
Thank u for this clear, accessible, & motivational advice 🥲🫶🏻
Wow this is perfect timing, I JUST published a no-sew dog pattern pack a few minutes ago :D
Wow!!! That's so awesome! :)
Thanks for this. Such a boost in confidence and great points! Can you talk about the You tube aspect... been wanting to just nervous to jump in. And DO TELL about this Crochet certificate deal...please...wow.
You are amazing! Thank you for being an inspiration! ❤
Thank you so much! :) ❤️
RUclips tips on how to get monetized and where you got certfied as a crochet crafter .
Those are great topics that I hope to talk more about soon!
Thatd be awsome! Congrats girl!
❤️❤️
I've planned to do two this year. Release a pattern and start Etsy. i already do markets and in store sales.
Sooo, do you happen to have an online, self-paced crochet course available for purchase? Because that would be awesome.
That is actually something I'm hoping to launch for you all in the future!! That's a big goal of mine :)
so many wonderful tips, I love it ☺☺☺
❤️❤️ You're always so kind! :)
Wello (Hello and Well all the same time Wello!!) Thanks for your video I also watched this while working out;.
Hello! :)
I understand ur really busy and already have a webcite but could you do a video series about creating a webcite through square?
That is an interesting idea! While it may not be for a while, that is certainly something I will consider doing!!
I would be SUPER interested in a video on your certification experience with Craft Yarn Council!
-Snugglebug Crochet
Awesome!! I'd love to talk more about that with you all :)
Hi Cameryn, when you sell online, do you do international shipping, and if so, how do you follow the different regulations for different countries?
Can you share some tips on how to make money with crocheting off-line? How can I make this legal?
Hi there! I think I'm misunderstanding your question, but please send me an email and we talk more at length about building your business!
I have a few patterns that I have done and a friend suggested to do patterns
I would love to check out some of your patterns some time!
1. How do you make sure that you do not copyright somebody else’s pattern? Often I use parts of one pattern with parts of another pattern.
2. I am left-handed so I crochet differently. Do you feel that there’s a market in crocheting other peoples work left-handed?
I would love for tips on starting a youtube channel and gaining momentum. I just started mine and the only subs are people I know lol
That's something I would love to talk more about with y'all!! Gaining that initial momentum can be so hard!
@@camryns_cute_creations It has been very hard to gain it with my crochet channel. Maybe I'm just boring lol, and that's okay if I am.
It's been a year and a half or so and not monetized yet. Hoping this year I will be! Would love a video on on tips for RUclips!
That is certainly a topic I'm thinking about exploring in future content!
So, do you need an LLC or business license to sell crochet items at craft fairs?
Where do you find craft shows?
Great ideas!
Thank you!
Which NAICS code ddi you use for your business?
thank you so much!!!
Thank you! :)
As long as I have been crocheting, I’ve never attempted to design a pattern. I don’t even know where I would start.
It can certainly be a daunting task initially!! But it's so fun, I hope to talk about it more with y'all in a future video :)
Best videos!!!
Thank you!
Where do you sell all your patterns at?
I sell my patterns on my website!
I want to make sure the beanie is working for you! :)
“In any moment of decision, the best thing you can do is the right thing, the next best thing is the wrong thing, and the worst thing you can do is nothing." ‑‑Theodore Roosevelt
My husband loves that quote :) He says thanks for making him smile!
my problem is i don’t have a lot of craft shows in my area and the ones that are i can never find them!😭
If you know any people who do or have done shows, it would be awesome to ask them!
Hello. Thank you for this video. I started my RUclips channel a year ago and I`m still struggling with monetization. Although I reached 1600 subs and only 993 watch hours. So, it would be great if you can tell your story of monitization. And now I opened my shop on Etsy. It grows really slowly and only with ads😭.
Чудесная ❤
Thank you! :) ❤️
Theres no craft shows in my country which is uae😢😢
I'm very sorry to hear that!
I am from india how to do it
I’m too slow to start doing this as a full time job 😂

Remember your husband helps you set up your craft shows so he helps a lot and frees up your time.
He absolutely does! And I in no way mean to discredit him!! He is such a big help in so many ways that you guys don't see! I'm very grateful for him! :)
@@camryns_cute_creations Yes, you are very lucky to have a great husband who supports you.
Omg, she is sooo all over the plave she must have burned 1000 calories just by doing this video. Half way through she has nit given me any helpful information
Thank you, AGAIN, Camryn! Your videos are ALWAYS helpful and, for me, perfectly timed. ☺️🫶🏻🧶
❤️❤️ Always so glad I am able to help in any way I can! :)
