    Hello Sir i hv cichlid fishes & i was facing same internal parasite issue from last 4 months due to this issue my 3 fishes died i was thinking that its constipation but after watching your video i got confirmed about internal parasite. i also had cichlid fries in same 90 gal tank in net breeding box, but as u said treat complete tank so before i was worried about fries but as i did't hv any other option so i did 10 days treatment (from 26 July to 4th Aug, 7am to 5pm) with 10 tablet of Flagyl 400 mg (10*400=4000 mg = 4 grams for 90 gal tank) daily change 20% water, last day on 4th Aug changed 50% water, also i hv added very little medicine in feed after every 2nd day as my 1 fish was not eating which was more ill other all was eating, Thanks GOD all fries and fishes remain safe & all became normal. Thanks for your detailed & effective video.

    hi there, ive been on and off struggling with discus and hexamita. im off to treat another round. its a community tank, different origins and i believe thats the cause. ive had this group for 2 years. theyve had 4 or 5 friends die of flatulates. so whats odd is i noticed first accelerated growth in half of them and the other half slower. it is semi-corespondant to origin. ie. my blue turqs are thin and they from origin A and my blue face red covers are bigger (same age) and breeding in community. the thin ones are getting worse. ive tried treating in water and food but never metro in food so thats what i want to try now. im just not understanding dosage for food. i feed dry pellets, im willing to create a beef heart mixture if it would work better for their health. however still im not sure how to measure dosage for the food. are you able to assist?

    Gabe - Thanks very much for this fish life-saving how-to. Quick question... Do we keep the temperature high (86F-88F) for the whole 10 days? Or, can we drop the temperature down to 84F after each 8hr treatment? I'm concerned for the non-Discus livestock that may not be able to endure the 86F temp. Thanks in advance.

    • @reefer9224
      @reefer9224 2 года назад

    • @muhammadinadghazwan4675
      @muhammadinadghazwan4675 2 года назад

      Raising and lowering the temperature during the treatment period makes the environment change for the parasite, which makes it weak resistance
      So raising the temperature by one degree for a day or two and then gradually lowering it will have a good effect with treatment

    It would help if you gave dosage for feeding......how much "Metro" is it exactly per feeding and how many times do you dose-feed. Not knowing this could kill all our fish at worst or make them all sterile at best. How many grams do you mix into the food and how many times do you feed/do this? Three days ten days, one day......medication dosage must be different when feeding to when you treat the water?

    My one of the adult female discus fish which is around 8inch of size stop eating, and just siting in a cornor of aquarium in fear of bullying male discus, and during night it was schooling with other fishes without any fear, now almost one week passed today I found a white cloudy color on its left wing. Could anyone help me to overcome this issue. And also it is not wide opening its upper fins and it almost(not exactly) look like stunted fish now.

    Hello, I have a problem, one of the fish is very skittish, tries to eat the given food but swims in spurts and does not see the food, the other fish are ok, can I give some medicine (the fish looks healthy, only the way it swims and "lack of sight" is surprising) ) Please help

    Hi it looks like fenbendazole is similar and is allowed in NZ where Metronidazole isn't allowed. I can also see it can be added it food but I would like to know if it has an 8hr water life as well?

    You're channel is brilliant. You are very knowledgeable and so passionate about this hobby. I wish I lived in the USA because I would be able to buy my discus from you.
    I have a question. In the UK we can't easily get hold of metroidazole.
    However, we can use dimetridazole.
    Or commonly known as Waterlife Octozin. Is it OK to use this at the same rate as metronidazole?
    Any tips on helping it dizzolve in water? As it doesn't do this well.

    • @joelohalloran200
      @joelohalloran200 3 года назад

      @@riverp9019 you are trying to use waterlife octozin? If so, it doesn't seem to have the same affect on the condition as its so diluted you'd have to spend a lot of money to use it at the same dosage rate as what JW suggests. If you have fish with Hexamita I would recommend trying to actually buy some metro somehow. You can get it from some specialist Discus breeder/sellers in UK or vets.

      You change your water whenever you do your regular water changes. Either before you medicate, or 9 hours after. Daily is not necessary.

    I use metro in shrimp tanks and it is safe. Added bonus, it destroy also anerobic bacteria that harms the fish.
