The germans players looks pretty smaller than those hollandaise horses. Even the Goalkeeper Meyer is shorter at least 10 cm compared to its opponent striker!!!
If we compare the Netherlands with Germany in the seventies we note quickly that the Dutch have more talent of the Germans but the Germans have more character and never give up. I think the Germans won the world championship in 1974 mostly because playing at home. If those world championships were played elsewhere Holland would have defeated Germany clearly and easily ..
Watch the WC74 final. West Germany deserved to win on the day, but were the fresher side. I think the two sides were pretty evenly matched, although Germans stronger defensively, but minus a Cruyff going forward.
arguments against your theory are: 1) the Germans also won championsship 1972, 2) they were Vize-Champion 1976, 3) they have won with fc Bayern the club-competion in 1973,1974, 1975 - no "clarly and easily" win for Holland in all these years - it´s just your dream!
MrPursuivant But what enters the championships of 1972 and those of 1976? The Germans have always been very constant over performance and they never give up, but the Dutch had much more talent of the Germans and during those championships they exhibited an outstanding, extraordinary, very spectacular play , with perfect mechanisms and synchronicities that the Germans never showed. In truth, the Dutch played the final with poor concentration because all the greatest experts, including British bookmakers, saw them clearly favorites and they with great presumption thought that they had already won because they believed that Brazil defeated by them in the semi-final was stronger than Germany and because, with too much ease and relaxation, they did not respect the withdrawal imposed by Michels and had sex with their wives on the day before the match.
Most of what you writing is correctly, but your theory was "Wenn diese Weltmeisterschaften gespielt wurden an anderer Stelle würde Holland haben Deutschland klar und leicht zu besiegen" - and this is nonsens! No team has beaten this german team "klar und leicht". And in the final of munich the geman team was stronger and more clever. It was a victory in 90 minutes - not after penalty-shooting like it´s nowadays usual in the finals so often..
+MrPursuivant I think the refereeing was bad for both sides in the 1974 final. The referee, Jack Taylor, dissalowed a Müller goal, and many other things, and he gave a penalty to Germany that was a dive, or at least was admitted by Holtzenbein and Müller to be a dive, so definately not penalty. If the first goal was not scored, by Germany, the pace of the game would change, and who knows, Germany might have won 5-1, or they could have lost 2-1. Who knows. It was just unfortunate that Jack Taylor was retarded and reffed so badly for both sides, and the game was really unfair for both sides. These were only examples of his bad reffing in that match. I have to say that Holland as a team was much stronger. Cruyff, Neeskens, Krol, van Hanegam, etc. The only bad player on Holland was the goalkeeper who was terrible. Müller scored a goal that was ridiculously easy to save, especially for any other world cup final goalkeeper. If Holland actually had a decent goalkeeper, not even a good one, but a decent one, I think they would have been the strongest team in history. But still, Holland was a monster team and much stronger than Germany. Germany had Müller, Beckenbauer, and the goalkeeper as geniuses, but every other player was not even close in the level of any of the other guys on the Dutch team. Also, West Germany had no competition in the finals. Not to mention they lost to their inferior Eastern rivals. They also got a lucky win against the terrible Poland. Although, West Germany was better, Poland played better than them on that one day. They also had a home advantage. Holland however, had to beat the very strong Argentine, and Brazilian teams. Although they easily beat both, it still took work, when Germany got easy opponents. There was a lot of luck. Holland also had most of the possession, more chances, a few really unlucky misses, etc. One of the players from the West German team after the match said, "The Dutch lay siege on our goal." I am from Germany, and although I rooted for Germany, I very much respect both teams' football, and I had a lot of fun watching the final. One of the best finals I ever saw.
Alan3007 yes it was an anniversary of something or other I think that’s why Cruyff and Neeskens were absent, if it was a serious game they would be playing
The West.Germans were a great team in the 70s. Our team could have won the 74 final but sadly underestimated the Germans. Our team wanted to humiliate the Germans on their home soil because of ww2 sentiments and that was a big big mistake by our national team and their coach. Apart from that sensational openingminutes Cruijff didn't play as good as he could and Rensenbrink wasn't fit after all and played the invissible man in the first half. They simply lacked the luck the 1988 champions had.
They missed a fully fit Rensenbrink in that final badly, he was a calming influence as well as being a great player and would have slowed the game down and not rushed the game like the Dutch players did, there was plenty of time left to get the equaliser and maybe gone on to win the game
Poland were statistically the best team in '74 (most wins, most goals, top scorer, quality of opposition etc). They also were better than Holland against Germany. Beckenbauer and Breitner have both said that Poland where the best, but western bias has as usual all but ignored these facts.
@@jasondancaster3296 Statistics of course doesn't tell the whole story. Beckenbauer and Breitners "opinion" doesn't make it automaticly facts. We all know many other people have a different opinion. You talk about the stronger opposition,Poland scored more goals and they had the tournaments topscorer? Well they played in the first round against......soccer joke Haiti! and scored 7 goals in that BIG match, almost half of the total goals scored by Poland during the tournament were scored against a soccerdwarf (the 2 goals scored in that BIG match made Lato topscorer and the 3 scored by Szarmach made him runner up topscorer )..in the other 6 matches they scored just 8 goals, only 3 in the important second round while the Netherlands scored 8 goals in that stage. The 3 matches played in the second round... Poland goal-difference 3-2 and the Netherland 8-0 and you know ...no Haiti at that stage!!!! But do you know what happened before the big final? What had a big negative effect on the Dutch squad and made some players like Cruijff underperform in the final? Look it up! People talk about Hungary54,Brazil82,Denmark86,Russia86 but not about Poland74 and there's a reason for that..

Today's players, including the "greats", if they had the markings of the 70s they would not touch the ball.
german is always a troublesome team for its opponents
The germans players looks pretty smaller than those hollandaise horses. Even the Goalkeeper Meyer is shorter at least 10 cm compared to its opponent striker!!!
The klaxons, the bumpy patchy pitches, the sideburns, the dated graphics, the fans on terraces behind fences. Happy times
nice to watch it
Beckenbauer nearly scoring an own goal :-o
netherland was genial
The Germans have always been very constant over performance and they never give up,
but the Dutch had much more talent of the Germans and during those championships they exhibited an outstanding, extraordinary, very spectacular play , with perfect mechanisms and synchronicities that the Germans never showed.
In truth, the Dutch played the final with poor concentration
because all the greatest experts, including British bookmakers, saw them clearly favorites
and they with great presumption thought that they had already won
because they believed that Brazil defeated by them in the semi-final was stronger than Germany
and because, with too much ease and relaxation, they did not respect the withdrawal imposed by Michels and had sex with their wives on the day before the match.
I was not aware they played again less than a year after 1974 final. was a friendly match ?
Alan3007 yes it was an anniversary of something or other I think that’s why Cruyff and Neeskens were absent, if it was a serious game they would be playing
I believe it was the 75th anniversary of the founding of the DFB, which is situated in Frankfurt am Main, where this match took place.
🇩🇪 I love you so much
The West.Germans were a great team in the 70s.
It rankles that you didn't win the World Cup in 1974. That great team deserved that accolade.
They missed a fully fit Rensenbrink in that final badly, he was a calming influence as well as being a great player and would have slowed the game down and not rushed the game like the Dutch players did, there was plenty of time left to get the equaliser and maybe gone on to win the game
74 team were light years ahead of the 88.
Look it up!
People talk about Hungary54,Brazil82,Denmark86,Russia86 but not about Poland74 and there's a reason for that..
when practically no soccer player was tattooed and there were no nationalized immigrants in national teams ... football changed, as well as the world.
France fucked football
