  • Dougal and I stay at The Howard CAMC Site at Rosedale Abbey, North Yorkshire in the Adria Twin Supreme that we have on loan until July.
    www.caravanclub.co.uk/club-si...
We head to Pickering, and ride a steam train with the North Yorkshire Moors Railway (NYMR) as far as Goathland, setting for the TV Series 'Heartbeat'.
For details of the railway head to: www.nymr.co.uk
After a yummy lunch at the Goathland Tea Rooms and Gift Shop we walk the Rail Trail to Grosmont Station before getting the train back to Pickering.

Once again, you have outdone yourself, a train and a walk and some incredibly beautiful shots of the scenery (including a pensive Dougal). I was so engrossed in watching that the end was rather jarring. It came too soon. Watching Dougal cross that footbridge reminded me of the amazing green river in Europe where you filmed Dougal crossing a narrow footbridge.

Wonderful. It brought back memories of a lovely day I had early last year. Spent a few hours around Grosmont, and had the priviledge of seeing Tornado pull in a very full train. Then I went to "Aidensfield", had a pint in the Aidensfield Arms and a great walk around the village. Then it was a long drive down to Stanstead for the trip home to Spain. But that day in the North York Moors was the highlight of my trip.

Great to watch yet another lovely composed video! How lovely the English countryside looks! I am not asking you to comment or to put a downer on things and so I won’t. Only to say that I am and like a lot of others becoming more fearful of climate change and what our footprint is regarding pollution. I am now just 60yrs of age and have enjoyed the most wonderful hay day of my life getting around our land. What are we to do with massive tariffs being put on diesel and the fact that the government want us all to switch to electric vehicles. I know I won’t be around to see it but I hope the universe has the answer because no one else has! I do -do my bit and so maybe that is enough. It’s just a thought that I am sure you have already realised. All the best. Peter. ❤️

Been on that railway many times as I live in N Yorks and have camped many times nearby (at Pickering, Hutton le Hole, Goathland, Newton Upon Rawcliffe, Levisham, Whitby etc which are all near to or on the NYMoors Rwy). But I was looking forward to your nipping in to the Birch Hall Inn (a very quirky pub at Beck Hole) where many walkers stop. A REALLY tiny bar there, a sweetshop in the middle and a "lounge" on the other side - as well as a nice beer garden where you can drink one of the several guest ales and eat a "Beck Hole Butty" - cheese and pickle or ham in a wholemeal Stottie - or a pork pie and pickle.
Love that pub and, yes, I've got the T-shirt!

A lot of folk, and the Guide on the train, recommended that pub Raymond. But time was against us as I spent too long in Goathland procrastinating. So you know what that means? Yup, we'll need to go back...

Great stuff. One of my favourite parts of the country. Thanks for sharing - special request though - a nice growly diesel in the next railway vid? ;-)

Did I see a start of grey on the Dougal man? Very stately.

Great video Andrew. Did you see the tiny pub at Beckhole? Just like going into someone's sitting room it's so small.

No, we had a very quick look for it Gill but had to press on to get the train.

Ask for Coleman's Starch in a cardboard box and Mustard at your local supermarket 🎩

Great video as ever Andrew, thank you. Will you be taking a trip on the Jacobite during your time in Scotland this summer? Sadly I didn’t get time to do it myself last month when touring the Highlands, on the list for next year now

I'd love to take the Jacobite but no plans as yet. It books up well in advance!

Thank you - I think! Some might just say I'm over-dramatic ;@) But seriously, thanks.

Lovely part of the country. Please keep your dog on a leash around livestock though.
