That road in is no joke. Potholes are frequent and deep. It takes about 25 mins to travel from the Garfield Ledges trailhead to the Dingford creek trailhead,
The good news is there's no snow, at least there wasnt Sunday the 17th.
The Dingford creek trailhead is clear of snow till about the 1.50 mile mark. You'll need spikes (at the very least) if you're going to Hester. After 2 miles in you'll have snow from there on out. My guess is you'll ultimately need snowshoes,
The snow was getting deep so we followed our GPS to Horseshoe Lake instead of Hester,
The jct was difficult to find as was the trail, but we had two GPS confirming out location up the hill towards Horseshoe. Towards the top you'll need snowshoes to continue (if you decide to go to Horseshoe). You could not take a step at the lake without postholing, I suspect Hester is the same.
