Love your channel! I sold my home and put all my savings into a Trailer, solar, truck to tow the trailer and travel full time! This past friday was 6 months on the road. Its def not for everybody, but the point is def, chase your dreams!!! Also got my first dirt bike for all these dirt roads and trails. Been a blast.
@@AdventureDaily well I decided since I was going to most def beat it up Id start with a Kayo K2 230. They seem to be getting pretty good reviews for a budget bike. It ended up being a bit small for me, 6’ 1 and 250lbs lol. I ended up getting lucky and traded up to the Kayo K4 250. I figure this will get me going, let me learn, and if I crash a lot i wont be breaking a more expensive bike. Plan on saving and going for a more “Dream” bike. I had my eyes set on the CRF 300L Rally. Besides the money side atm I dont have room for a bigger bike than this 250. Would be cool to run into you one day and learn some tricks of the trade! Mostly in it for chill scenic riding but my dream would be to end up doing one of those BDR? The long 4-5 day back country camping treks!
Awesome to find a couple that has a similar heart to us! I started riding the old Senator Highway to Crown King when I was 21 years old on my 1984 XR350R that I still own! Things have changed a lot and while my wife and would explore the old stage coach routes on the old 350, we gave up dirt biking for a while, even took up flying for ten years. Now that we are RVing several weeks each year, we both felt the call back to dirt bikes. I restored my old XR350R, my son rides that now, then purchased and restored a 2004 XR400R which I do love, except for the kick starting! My wife likes less power and settled on the KLX230 while I tried the KLX300 (Fragmented Camo), but found it to be a little lackluster in the power dept as well as heavy. Ended up with a 2022 KTM500 EXC-F. You'll need to com visit us down here in southeastern AZ near the Dragoon Mountains in fall. We have some great trails and full hook ups for your trailer. By the way, I do love those two stroke KTM's!
This is awesome to hear Mark! Thanks so much for the offer, I'll have to get ahold of you when we come back out west this fall. Love that the whole family rides, appreciate the support! 🤘🏻
Love the fact you are including your pups in your lifestyle choices. Too often nowadays you see folks ignoring their pets for selfish reasons. Love the content and you being real. Keep up the great content my friend.
Diesel's my #1, I want to include him in all the adventures for as long as I can. If I could take him on the bike, I would! (I've tried) haha Thanks for the support Stephen! 🤜🏻
What a dream life you guys are living! Thanks for sharing your exuberance for riding, the love of your 3rd family member Diesel, two strokes and life in general. You two are a great inspiration.
Love to see how hype you guys are on these!! These totally are what you need for the type of riding you're doing nowadays! Give it a few years and we'll see an aged Tanner back on his dual sport grind...maybe with an all new CRF500L doing some ADV??😉
Haha my body certainly isn't getting any younger so hard to say what I'll be riding, but no matter what I'll be having a blast 🤘🏻 I loved my helix scooter...😆
with this kind of riding you'll be doing a top end every 2 or 3 years xD. With four strokes you're blowing it up every few years and the rebuild will be.....
exactly 300 2t's are known to push to 300hrs without a top end being done if just trail ridden. my last 300 I did 170hrs racing enduros with it before doing a top end and it was still going strong. As to the top speed with 13:50 gearing they do 95mph so they cruise easy at 65-70 and judging by the terrain they ride they could easily run 14:50 gearing with the 300's torque and pull 100+ easy
And they ride nothing like a 4-stroke. I have both and I love the way they both ride. Two completely different animals. Four strokes may be a little more maintenance but I'll take it for the difference in ride from a two-stroke. My 450f pulls up hills better than my 2-stroke does. But the two stroke is funner on the pipe.
Totally feel you on people telling you how to take care of your dog! My yellow lab leads the life of luxury, but I've still had those virtuous(?) people give me their unsolicited opinion. Great channel guys!
Good on you folks. Its been an absolute pleasure to watch your channel grow and see you doing more of what you love. I'm looking forwards to the coming years and seeing what you guys get up to. Ride safe folks.
The maintenance is not a big deal on those bikes but changing the oil is a bit of a process. Preparing to change my oil after my first ride, I watched two RUclips videos and both got it wrong and were corrected in the comments. Then when I picked up the bike, the Husqvarna mechanic told me there were two thingies to take out, forgetting about the third screw under the bike. Anyway, like the manual says, take out all three, clean the two screens, then take out and change the filter, and don't put cancer brake cleaner on your skin, and done. Meanwhile, kiddo's Honda 125 isn't due for another 30 hours and it's one screw, no screens. Oh well, love my fe 501 s.
Thanks for the breakdown. I went through the exact same thought process this spring. I landed on the Beta 390rr-s instead. Best of luck to you both and I’ll be checking back in to compare our trials and tribulations with the bikes.
Great vid! Trying to get my wife to learn a clutch and so envious of you guys. A true power couple. I wish my wife would do this sort of stuff with me. I wanna ride so bad, days are getting nicer here in Ohio! Cheers!
Nothing you said about 2 stroke vs 4 stroke maintenance and riding on road makes sense. Modern 300 2 stokes take a top end around 150-200 hours for enduro & dual sport work while your 350 is around 100 hours. Any engine work on a 2 stroke is also going to be cheaper and more simple, especially if you get into the bottom end. Then you get into valvetrain maintenance. 2 strokes need oil changes less frequently since the reservoir is only for the clutch/transmission vs that being combined with the crankcase oil. As long as you pull the clutch in when coasting, a 2 stroke does fine on road.
They're probably too young to realize that back in the '70's, pretty much all dual sports and dirt bikes were two strokes, except for the Honda XL's. And we didn't have any problem riding a two stroke on-road, it won't hurt it. How is that any different from desert racing a two stroke with the throttle pinned all the time? It won't hurt it, and even if it does, it's very easy to do a top end on a two stroke. I used to have a KX500 and did some desert racing in SoCal and that engine never had any problems, even running it wide open or nearly wide open for hours. And the top end on that engine lasted a very long time, went for at least two years before it got loose and rattly and needed rings and a piston. But no big deal you can do it in a couple of hours.
I agree but if you’ve watched the channel for awhile you’d know they don’t keep bikes very long that being said they could’ve gone either way 2 or 4 stroke but who knows maybe they will keep these bikes around for awhile but I doubt it lol
If your heading to Colorado you should hit up Morgan at highland cycles in Montrose. Seems like a cool guy that's also a you tuber. He could probably show you some cool trails
Hey guys, I’m happy to see you guys are happy, I was wondering if you could be a little more specific on why you chose these bikes vs others and why the Honda 300L didn’t work out. I know you touched on it in the video but I’m thinking of buying a dirt bike to get into the sport but can’t decide which one to get and some of the sales people don’t provide a lot of info. I guess in short maybe a pros and cons of each and how they compare to each other! Love the content!
Good for you guys!!! Just getting ready to.go camping and rip single trak 300 x cw still loving it at 61 years. And I have ridden with someone who has the 350 great bikes!!! Go get some!!!
KTM and Husky were your best options. They are much easier to get parts for than Beta, Gas Gas or the other lesser known brands. I love my KTM 450 EXC-F.
I think y'all made a good choice. I just traded a dual sport for my first real dirt bike. I was using my KLX300 as a dirt bike. It had non street legal knobbies and I took it by trailer or pickup bed to the places where I ride off road. I wasn't using the street legal part of it. So, I traded it in on a CRF250RX a couple weeks ago. I have no regrets. Sixty pounds less and nearly double the horsepower? Heck, yeah! All that being said, I will do the very minimum to be able to get a plate so that I can connect trails and ride on public land requiring a plated vehicle.
That's awesome to hear! Yep, it's all about the kind of riding you plan on doing and how you're gonna do it! Glad you found what works for you, thanks for watching! 👊🏻

You guys are doing everything that I want to be doing so good for you so I can’t watch any more of your videos because it makes me jealous but quick question what toy hauler did you end up going with and do you like it
Today's prices are stupid prices.... dirt bikes today cost more than cars 10 yrs ago.... no way in Hell they're worth that $10k each.... I would love to have a crf450r fairly new but no friggin way gonna pay $5k for one used that's been through hell on the tracks..etc.... pandemic pricing is gotta so stupid
Sorry T but imo she got the nicer bike mostly cuz I know a few people that broke their subframes from small crashes and it scares the hell out of me but it’s still a beast. Y’all enjoy

I hope you guys put some thought into fuel, food and water prep as well. Things are getting ugly in this world with lots of fuel and food shortages coming.
We sure did, might have happened fast but spent many hours talking about it. Thankfully we have an address we are able to use, we can't do without our amazon packages 🤣

More to come! Thanks for the support! 🤘🏻
Love to see a couple that cares about their pets. So many people would be completely fine with leaving them all day, over and over.
We can't ever forget about our Diesel 🐾 , he's absolutely included in as many adventures as we can bring him on!

Thanks Charles, more so talking about 2-stroke riding on the road and dual-sporting them when we want to, just isn't practical for us right now!
Over here In Australia new KTM/Husqvarnas are near $20k alone for a 2023 they're $18k

@@AdventureDaily I know right!! I want to buy one but they're priced so ridiculously

Being a older guy and coming from a trials & enduro world I think you made a perfect choice and look forward to seeing all the fun u will both have 👍
I like what you said - never boring! Thanks for your support! 🤘🏻
You guys are doing everything that I want to be doing so good for you so I can’t watch any more of your videos because it makes me jealous but quick question what toy hauler did you end up going with and do you like it
If you use a great oil you do not have to do an oil change every ride in a Two Stroke ... Unless you're racing it like Eli Tomac.
Y’all enjoy
Yeah it can be a downfall but something I was willing to compromise in the end. Thanks for watching!
If I had 20k (in this scenario,I don’t already own a 2021 ktm 500 ) ,I would buy a ktm 500exc-f & probably a raptor 700R
Nice work guys, looking forward to watching the adventures 🙏
and f@&$ the keyboard 🎹 warriors. who cares about their options only matters what you you guys think , it’s your life and adventure, we just here for the journey 🍿
Much appreciated! ❤️ Happy to take you along for the adventures!
So many memories are about to be created with them though!
You got that right!!
The best tool for the job.
Dont even need to watch the video
U do that cause ur fuckin awesome
What happened to the van build?
I hope you guys put some thought into fuel, food and water prep as well.
Things are getting ugly in this world with lots of fuel and food shortages coming.
Why fuel?
both bikes look super fun to ride. are they green or red sticker?
Toy haulers are cool because you can haul your dirt bike in your rv
Dirt bike is sooooo much easier to pickup than an adventure.
Now the ktm looks trick girl 😍put spark arrester in if a little loud
At 55yrs old, I reflect upon my life and realize that I spent most of my money on women and motorcycles... The rest I just wasted.
Ktm all day hands down 🙌...and maybe one of those new electric ones 👻 and some more solar panels with the extra 2grand
look at it as a win win ,, anything you buy for the channel can be written off on your taxes and you can get some of the investment back
Sounds like y'all put a lot of thought into the direction you are heading, happy for you! How does Amazon/UPS/FedEx find you in the desert?!!! :)
We sure did, might have happened fast but spent many hours talking about it. Thankfully we have an address we are able to use, we can't do without our amazon packages 🤣
Did Lex quit her job and move out there with you full time?
My 22’ 500exc was 14k so 20k for 2 ain’t bad . You must not register them in a bike friendly state . Xcw aren’t street legal
I meant you can’t convert xcw to street legal in some states
almost like you can't just get new plastics and custom graphics
What is the overall content pertaining to about your channel? Thank you 👍
