    Vinnie is one of the cleanest players. Never phones it in, always true to the song and has near-flawless execution.

      I went to a Vinnie Moore guitar clinic back in I think 89'. Never listened to much Holdsworth but after Vinnie talked him up so much I had to. Changed my life and how I approached guitar after that for sure.

    He's maybe not as sharp as he was back when Mind's Eye came out, no-one can maintain that standard forever. But he's still one of the greatest neo-classical players ever and the one I'd choose above all others.

    I saw Vinnie live in Melbourne about 20 twenty years ago, and he was amazing; much better than I expected. He played with a thrown-together band of local guys, and just WAILED for probably an hour (I can't quite remember. it was at The Corner Hotel in Richmond, if anyone can help with the details). Prior to that, I'd only seen him on his instructional video and had one of his albums on vinyl. He could be the best live player I've seen, and that includes Vai and Holdsworth. Ok, I haven't exactly seen them all, but still.... :-)

    This was clever, original, very melodic music, beautifully crafted, arranged, and played, not just virtuosity.Those claiming that at the time and now, are just deaf. And there were even better pieces on the fantastic Mind's Eye ! Vinnie has got some emotion, of course... I saw him live three times (only with UFO, but I wishI had seen him play his instrumental music too) and each time he showed how much of a passionate musician he is.

    You noticed how a pleasure it is listening to him for almost 4 mins.
    These others so called shredders that sounds like King Arthur theme shredding, and some other outdated, bell bottom- sounding licks, legatos etc..
    The sound should evolve and move on to other dimensions.. Like Allan H.
    Like Metal too and rock has to evolve, but not going futher to its roots, but instead evolve, ..like Industrial, gothic, ethereal, power-pop even.
    Like Type O negative said, there's no money in metal

    Vinnie Moore taught Tony Macalpine! Tony actually played keys on a few of Vinnie's records!
    Malmsteen was around the same time... You either liked Malmsteen or Moore, personally I've always preferred Moore.

    damn i finally get to see him performing one of my favorite instrumentals of all time live, but theres something i wish he played it in the bridge pickup, atleast thats how the studio version sounds like..oh and how its possible to shred on a single coil what kind of pickups are those !!!

  • @StreetFighter2010
    @StreetFighter2010 14 лет назад

    Since the mid-1990's, Tony MacAlpine is also no longer using heavy distortion with the bridge pickup when playing his Shrapnel tunes live. I'm not sure why these guys switched up, but it still sounds very good. And like someone already said, it shows it is still possible to shred without mega distortion and humbucker.

  • @KeebRocks
    @KeebRocks 13 лет назад

    @lauriemonk Yeah, not sure why they changed the backing. Vinnie only saw the video after someone had posted it on his forum and asked him if he's changed his playing technique which causes him to play behind the beat. Vinnie said it only sounds like that in this video since they changed the backing for some reason! Thanks for the video by the way! Vinnie's one of my personal heroes!! :p!

    What Vinnie Moore is a bad player? Try asking Allan Holdsworth is he has the same opinion?
    Most shredders just does the exercise routine (outdated sound/modes), ..Vinnie's sense of melody, and vast knowledge is tremendous that most guitarist doesn't have. And by the way, Vinnie can shred 'till your jaw drops. Vinnie uses his neck pickups for solos, incase people don't know. Bridge pickups are to edgy and harsh sounding. Anyone who says Vinnie's a bad player, is not a guitar player; Period!

    He has toned down a bit since the 80's. The original solo to this song was much more aggressive, and contained probably one-hundred more notes.
