Thank you for breaking this down into a simplistic and understanding way. I just subscribed. I have some catching up to do. I am on my third time trying to learn German. And.....like they say...."third time is a charm". Its true....its all starting to click for me. I have a long way to go..but....there is no turning back.
Welcome aboard! Thank you for getting in touch - I’m glad to hear that you found it useful. There’s a whole course there that aligns with the Bausteine eins playlist if that helps. Alles Gute BB
Erzälen Sie mal, wie man Partizip II verwendet für Sätze wie "It would have been better if I had xyz" oder "Had it been this way, ABC would have been better/worse." Hätte ich mehr zeit gehabt, hätte ich das kürzer gesagt, zum beispiel.
Mir kommt‘s vor, Sie kennen sich damit schon sehr gut aus! Man verwendet einfach nur ‚wäre‘ und ‚hätte‘ statt ‚bin‘ und ‚habe‘. zB Es wäre gut gewesen, wenn ich das schon gewusst hätte!
A good question - one, that in this case actually has more to do with the way that the equivalent idea is constructed in German rather than any change of state. The idea of fainting / loosing consciousness is often constructed using an adjective or noun with a verb like ‚fallen‘ / ‚werden‘ - both of which need to be conjugated with ‚sein‘ - (ohnmächtig geworden / in Ohnmacht umgefallen ) - but if you used a different possibility (Bewusstsein verlieren) then this would be conjugated with ‚haben‘ because you’re just losing something. No doubt lots of other possibilities too- a great example.
Hallo! I have a question. I have seen a sentence: 'Aber ich habe ihn gestern mit einem Mädchen tanzen sehen'. I think the correct formation should be ' Aber habe ich...tanzen GEsehen'. Not sure if this in Perfekt or some other tense. Kindly clarify. Vielen Dank.
A good couple of questions! You’ve got a good feeling for the language - knowing that the verb should be in the 2nd position and how to form the perfect tense. But no, the sentence is correct. Why? 1) aber is a coordinating conjunction and their role is to join sentences without altering the position of the verb. Coordinating conjunctions (aber, oder, denn, sondern, und) don’t count, it’s like they reset word order; 2) sehen can be used a bit like a modal verb (ich sehe ihn tanzen). Put into the past tense this becomes (ich habe ihn tanzen sehen) : this is what modal verbs do in the past tense, although modals are mostly used in the simple past form. So, ‚Ich habe ihn tanzen sehen‘ is correct.
@@bausteine Vielen Dank. I am really grateful to you for the clarification. This was troubling me for the last few days as I was not getting a clarification not even from my teacher. So I am assuming 'sehen' is an exception and should be used in infinitive form just like any modal verbs at the end of the sentence in 'Perfekt'.
Yes, this is because there are two main ‚forms‘ of the past tense in German. The form you will want to use most of all is ‚Wir sind …. gegangen‘ and NOT ‚Wir gingen‘ - this form is one you’ll see a lot in novels and newspapers but not a lot in spoken or informal German. If you are interested in the ‚gingen‘ form you could watch this video ruclips.net/video/NxHDNkCfcBU/видео.htmlsi=J6YGxYJ5-J8sfdeU. Let me know if this is still not clear.
@@roaneeroane3451 Exactly. Just use the perfect tense. When reading, you might come across the simple past (imperfect), but you won't often have to use it.

Just thinking on the material: Would passing out/fainting also entail the use of bin since you are changing state from conscious to unconscious? 🤔

If you’re familiar with how ‚lassen‘ works (ich habe es machen lassen), then ‚sehen‘ works much the same (hören too)
@@bausteine Thank you. Completely clear now.
@@bausteineLikewise I am assuming: 'Ich habe eine Email schreiben müssen' is also correct.
