    To keep it from burning, drop the heat down to the bare minimum after pressure is built.

    I just bought the big 9 litre version of this one and I'm trying it for the first time now. I've put a couple of cans of condensed milk in to see if it will make dulce de leche. Mine cost me £20 but I had a discount code for 10% off so I got it for £18 with free delivery, bargain!

    We just bought the 12L one. They have a red plastic or silicone for one valve. I was wandering how safe it is to be ina really hot steam often. Any thoughts on this? Thnx in advance.

  • @alexvidakovic
    @alexvidakovic 2 года назад +1

    It actually says you need to soak everything in water up to a third of the volume of entire cooker and then once it starts whistling you need to close the cooking valve and lower the heat to half, meat and all of what you put takes only 15 to 20 minutes.

      No you only need about 2 cups of liquid minimum I’m 65 and been using stove top pressure cookers all my life including for camping. Lentil soup etc comes concentrated and I can add more water after pressure is released, it will save your valve for many years before replacing. Presently I have a 4 quart for my second home in Baja and another for car/tent camping. Best thing ever for legumes, stews and I do ribs there too then I brown them afterwards on the fire, falling off the bone and great taste, great one pot meals for camping and very fast. Rice comes perfect and you can actually bake too providing you have a rack so bake goods don’t get wet but moist. Try different things, lots of videos on line, actually Instapot is an expensive electric pressure cooker with preset buttons. Don’t forget to add a teaspoon of oil for legumes and no salt, the oil will prevent frothing and clogging the valve, salt will add cooking time to legumes and pastas, specially rice, I add after pressure is released but still boiling. Hope these tips help.

      @@carmenmartinez2882 do you have cooking times please? I found a 7 liter at thrift store but no instructions. TY

    • @carmenmartinez2882
      @carmenmartinez2882 Год назад +2

      @@shilodawn60 cooking times are the same as instant pot (which is a fancy pressure cooker) but you start the countdown after it’s come to pressure which means upper valve will be moving rapidly, when that happens reduce heat and start the countdown. There are several useful videos in RUclips for Hawkins pressure cooker and other brands, they also have simple but tasty recipes. Once you get the hang of it you’ll love it, better taste than slow cookers and super fast, you can even do wet baking but you’ll need to check out a video, a bit different than conventional baking but very good, brown or wild rice, beans from scratch very fast and best ribs, just throw them in the fire or oven to crisp the outside for looks, the taste is the same almost falling off the bone. Hope this helps. Forgot to say the silicone/plastic ring on the lid just rinse off and place it loose inside for storage and this method will make it last for years, also first time you use it specially since was used just oil the ring with a paper towel, just the first time. One mistake people make is over washing the ring which is basically a gasket, no bacteria will survive the temperature and it weakens it. Sorry about the lengthy reply.

      When you have that much steam venting, then your heat is too high, turn it down to a simmer. He is just learning to use a PC and as he gets more experience it will be another perfect way to cook.

    Пригорело потому что долго готовили по времени. Сделайте корректировку рецепта. У вас слишком интенсивно шёл пар из клапанов, жидкость испарилась быстро, нужно сделать меньше нагрев в следующий раз. 45 минут для картошки с мясом это долго времени нужно 25-30 минут

For other brands you might have to check their website.

    • @organichuman

      I got the 17 litre one which should be enough to feed a whole family depending size. It takes longer to get up to pressure on high heat - 10 to 20 mins depending on your heat source. I am using an induction hob that is portable which I don't like because I cannot control the heat variably enough, so difficult to get it to simmer and next number up is a little too high for simmering. I think gas is best for pressure cookers.
      I misplaced the instruction manual so haven't used this properly yet and I can't download it as nowhere has it online. It's a shame and I want to try cooking so many things with it. If anyone can share their instruction manual then please do. Photos of it uploaded online somewhere I can download, or a video will be fine.
      It seems simple enough to use but my main problem is my current hob is induction and it isn't the best one. I will try something out and update here.

      I also could not find any accessories for these pressure cookers. Need to look again properly to be sure though. I hope they sell the seal/gasket as that may not last forever and it will be very difficult to get out to clean if needed and likely cause damage when removing it because the shape of the sides turn in slightly near the top.
      I am after a steaming basket and trivet for my 17 litre one. If not a steaming basket then a flat shelf will do, just as long as the height can be adjusted. Not hopeful I will easily find this but wish me luck. Also want stainless steel. I came across a silicone basket which may be of some use but not the same.
