Cheating in TCG - An Animatic Pokémon TCG, Yugioh TCG, Digimon TCG, Magic TCG, One Piece TCG, any, they’re all bad, don’t do it! My socials: / ein_niw / wimmiebear
What's funny in the case of Yugioh is that most of the time: players are misplaying as opposed to intentionally cheating because the game's just that complicated.
not the verlisify footage 💀cool video though! i've never really thought about cheating in tcgs other than stacking but this is pretty useful info to keep in mind
At the offline regional in Arlington, I shuffled my opponents decks each round. While some were caught off guard by it, once I encouraged them to shuffle mine as well, it was all good. I've had too many bad experiences in online tournaments for op that it almost don't want to do them anymore. Record your games with OBS and keep an eye out for weird behaviors.
Pile shuffling isn't random. There's a way to cheat through it that's more common at the higher level. Shuffling your opponent's deck will always be the best option for cheat prevention. Always look at how they shuffle your deck too. The opponent will throw key cards to the bottom of your deck or less useful early cards towards the top. Just politely ask for them not to look at your deck while they're shuffling. All in all great video because most people don't think their opponent cheat. It might be super common at local level, but it does at higher stakes tournaments
Looking at a player's deck while shuffling is a level 0 (cheating) in every competitive TCG format I've ever judged. You might get a warning if it appears you're doing it accidentally but if you're doing it, I'm watching you, and I'm going to DQ you.
Was surprised how this was one of the channel's first videos, it was super good with some great ideas I hadn't thought of before! Transparent loaded dice is good to know of
At least in Pokémon, if your opponent chooses to shuffle your deck instead of making a cut, by rule you have the choice to cut your own deck in response, it doesn't have to be "offered" to you because it's your own deck.
The style of sleeves allowed in Pokemon makes it extremely easy to run marked cards, they are extremely common. As someone who dabbled in stage magic I'm pretty decent at recognizing a marked deck when I take them to shuffle, (at least on the level of most of these cheaters, I'm sure I miss some) and last regional I played about a third of the decks were marked. Also, again I point out, as soon as a player's hand leaves the screen, that's a warning, twice that's a game loss. It does not matter what you're suspected of, that's simply a foul.
Sorry, but NEVER accept a "pile" shuffle. That is not randomizing the deck. It's simply reordering cards according to a certain degree (of piles). In One Piece it's less damaging, but in games like MTG you can easily make it so your lands get stacked just about perfectly every time, even if your opponent decides the number of piles. ALWAYS require mash/riffle shuffle, and do two or three yourself, then cut. If your opponent only does pile "shuffling", call a judge.
Great content; hopefully you’ll be able to post more long form content in future if it becomes worth your while, you have a great voice for this kind of content.

No greasy nerd is touching my very expensive deck 🤣😂🤣

Yea that’s why I said you can request your opponent pile shuffle in x amount of piles (your choice)
@@wimmiebear whoops you Right
Pile shuffling by an amount you request is really the only method available in online tournaments
Pretty sure that advice does not carry over to all card games. I don’t think you can make your opponent pile shuffle in pokemon

Very useful information. Thank you!
Some seem obvious but othes are hard to believe how far people is willing to go to cheat.

Awesome video, I haven't encountered any cheaters irl, but I've only been to one regional for pokemon and my locals are filled with nice folks
I agree with you, and I, myself usually play it straight.
There’s also a way to flip a coin so it looks like a flip but it’s actually a wobble and always lands on what you want
Had a good chuckle at the mention of online cheating and the first tcg shown was OP.
This was surprisingly useful!
Nice that you made a Vid about this, didnt saw even one of those
