Complain all you want about his playing but without him the band wouldn't be the same. He fits perfectly with the way Korn sounds.
What do people say? I love how his bass sounds like it's 7 feet tall and loose ass strings. It's just cool
@@SameriddAndCave people just say he's not that good and his tone is trash. But honestly the way he plays and his tone fit so well with everything else.
@@gusbus6120 his sound is immediately identifiable. He does his job and brings the rhythm together with melody. What more do they want?
I love his style
who complains??
I love Korn's dirty nasty tone. It sets them apart.
Too bad it's lost nowadays.
@@siberianTiger639 why did he stop with this sound? He got thicker strings?
@@randovision8418 No. His style just went to a cleaner, more "normal" metal tone.
I miss it like hell, Follow The Leader had such an amazing bass presence in it. Listening to Its On, Freak On A Leash, Got The Life and Dead Bodies Everywhere are like the height of his KoЯn tone and they're even one after another.
Come on, the part after the intro in Dead Bodies Everywhere pumps you up so fucking much. That energy is lost now...
If thats the part you live than
The end if "Swallow" will be your bread and butter
That last riff is one of the sickest I've ever heard...So simple, but he plays it like a badass and the groove is pure ridiculous.
Idk bro the one before that was pretty cool
1:32 oh man how sick is this
Fieldy and David both have such a unique style that when I was listening to Make Me Bad for the first time on the radio, I jumped to a part where it was just instruments and the bass and drums instantly said “Korn”
Fieldy makes them sound so full, love his tone so much
Im gonna say it
I love his playing style. His tone is unique and that's cool.
Yeah the fricking *CLACK* *CLACK* sound it makes when hits the bass
Its awesome but it's actually Les Claypools sound
fieldy IS KORN for me idk what anyone says this mans bass tone along with the kick drum is largely what made me a musician. and got damnit its perfect.
✌️
I wish fieldy all the love in the world at these times where he is hurting and needing to find his strength
What happened to him
His style is completely distinctive. It also brings a whole new percussive dimension to their music.
Definitely the most scooped metallic bass sound ever... Never liked it too much but it surely gives a special vibe to the band...
It's like that with Ibanez, Yamaha and Schecter basses (obviously others, but these 3 come to mind with the bouncy metallic sound, especially with some good strings)
Im just going to say it like it is. If Fieldy didn’t have the hip-hop look, he would get praised as an innovator and one of the best. This is just the truth
Well that was an incredibly stupid take. Look at a musician like Buckethead. The guy wears a Japanese kabuki mask and a goddamn KFC bucket on his head. He looks ridiculous. Yet guitar players from all over the world, regardless of genre, praise him and consider him one of the greatest guitar players in history. So I highly doubt Fieldy is being discriminated against because he's wearing some hip hop fashion.
Lol. Fieldy looking "00's hip hop nu metal cool" is likely the only reason he passes as a good bass player. More like, if he looked like some normal he would be known as a trash bassist with bad tone and the showy antics of a dweeb in a music store who thinks slapping is putting the bass around your knees, putting your arm straight down and waving your hand like the dead queen if England.
Love Korn but hard disagree. Wes Borland is an even better example. Dude dresses like a complete idiot for literally no reason and he's constantly regarded as an amazing guitarist even by people who hate his band. Fieldy just got lucky
@rawkguy4896 word. His sound only works because korns songwriting is so good, and the drums are tight enough to keep everything together. Listening to Fieldys tracks isolated, his playing sounds so flat, and is so basic and void of any traditional technique. All together it sounds fat and heavy, but all that tone comes from the low tuned guitars and bass drum. He basically does none of what a bass player should. And somehow it works. But he couldn't play any other type of music and is not up to par with his peers.
Lucky, lucky ducky.
@@prehistoricturtlesaurus5309 listen to some of their pre-korn LAPD stuff
After a while you get used to his tone which basically sounds acoustic though with really low tuning, great player
This is the difference between having a low action, and having the strings laying on the fucking frets.
when your bass is so low action that it slaps itself
I Love his Playing! iT's Unique!
*He makes my bass sound like a fiddle*
That's cuz he got rid of all the mids in existence.
Korn have such a unique style . Love it.
Idc what y’all say. His tone is unique but it fits perfectly with this band. Growing up Fieldy was one of my biggest inspirations for playing bass
this is so sick he makes me wanna learn the bass
That old fella in the front row is enjoying the hell outta that whole thing! I hope those people realized how fortunate they were to get that experience. Jelly.
His style is my favorite kind of bass, fucking awesome how dirty it sounds. People he fits the part for KoRn! That creepy spine tingling sound is great!! Stop hating ffs 😂
I fuckin can’t get enough of this sound of the bass!! Makes it look so easy
That's because his bass parts are, indeed, easy. Easy as hell in fact.
@@WilDBeestMFis that a bad thing though? I've played bass for 12 years now and even though I'm likely "more traditional" than he is, his mark has been made. He's a great bassist, no matter what the elitists say.
@@ShortBus904 I didn't say there was anything wrong, I just said that they're simple.
@@WilDBeestMF true, I actually agree with that...i guess when I think of an "easy/simple" bassist, I think of someone playing in a soulless/robotic style without any life. Fieldy def isn't the most technical, but he's also essential to Korn as well as having his own style that separates him from that boring "play the guitar part, but lower" sentiment that a lot of bassists get away with.
@@ShortBus904 Simple bass lines are usually quite fun, amirite?
*Only him can achieve that percussive bass tone.*
Truth is even when I didn't know what was a bass guitar I knew korn had something different I remember saying what's that sound when I was listening to right now which I think my first korn sound
One of my favorites bass tones therefore bassist imI really love this kind of weird tones
Has anyone in the comment section ever stopped to think, that maybe bands like Korn, Dont strive to be the best band out there or please everybody, and maybe they just like to play music they like and play what they feel .. Good god, if you dont like them, then dont listen to them, thats simplr haha just cuz you dont like it doesnt mean its not good yall LOL .. remember they're ordinary people just like you, and they play what THEY feel ... They just happened to get famous ...
Romeo Martinez II or you know- they like money
Romeo Martinez II i dont think anyone has
Romeo Martinez II you said good God great korn song!
That's EXACTLY why I respect Korn.
That and I fucking love their music.
Just like motohead.. Lemmy its a legend but sucks in bass
I actually find his bass-playing to be quite unconventional yet good. I mean come on, Les Claypool and Rob Trujillo have a similar style yet dont get any flack for it
Because they can actually play bass lol
Comparing fieldy to les claypool.. you just broke my brain
I could see how someone who isn’t a musician (nothing wrong with that) could find similarities in the playing styles of those three bassists, but…..
Fieldy is more akin to a teenager who just got a bass three weeks ago, has tuned down way too low for the gauge of strings he has on, and is trying to imitate Claypool or Trujillo without having any real idea of what he is doing. There is just absolutely no compassion between him and those other two bassists as far as technical ability goes.
That being said……sheer talent isn’t everything. There are plenty of only moderately talented musicians who are successful and extremely talented ones who are not.
Something can certainly be said for having a unique sound, and he and his band took that and ran with it.
@@cmdc778 basic low level bass player opinion about fieldy not being as good as other bass players based off nothing and "his tone does not sound normal" shit
@@aidenschneider2327 You are entitled your your opinion.....I was a professional bass player though. Extreme Metal, but professional nonetheless. Not saying I know everything, but I am hardly low level.
so much fieldy hate in the comments
I know, screw them though, they'll never get
Usually from ppl who cant even play an instrument.. Fuck them
Maybe because it sounds like shit on top of average (at best) musical talent.
Doug Pullins he just plays bass differently you musical conservative
Yeah fuck em all lil bitches they probably listen to main stream crap and be lil sheep’s
Why is RUclips recomending me so much Fieldy videos
There’s no Korn without Fieldy
That bass got my rearview mirrors dancin!!😉🤣🤣
The bass sound like a bass drum
Tuna can bass fits so well for korn
people love korn and they complain about the bass at the same time.
do you know how essential the bass is for this band?
or they are just too ignorant lol
It's essential. However, there's no getting around the fact that it often sounds terrible. But weirdly, it sounds GREAT in the context of a Korn mix. Fieldy is cool no doubt.
OMG guys he's not trying to be the best bassist out there, he even said in an interview that he hates bass. He is just trying to do his part for Korn.
He sucks and only a loser would say he hates playing his instrument
+smokinnplatez obvious troll is obvious
+Captain Bodyshot how's he a troll lol just because you don't like what he says
Fucking bullshit. If he cared even slightly for the well being of his band, he'd quit and let one of the other thousands of bassists much more talented than him take over, and who knows, maybe they could even come up with a tone that doesn't sound like distorted maracas. He's a brainless jackass and he's only in it for the money and attention.
shallowcoder1 *distorted maracas = new band name jacked from you. Thnx, nga.*
Every chords he play the sound is like, "twang twang twang"
He’s so underrated, he’s what makes korn korn
Feildy has his own sound. That alone is stand out
The spacing on a 5-string Ibanez is sometimes ridiculously narrow, so fair play to Fieldy for getting the best out of one. I had to find a Fender copy fiver to manage with my fat fingertips.
Fieldy ♥ my fav bassist
Ashley Villanueva you must not know too many bassists then...
😂 your hilarious
🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤
I kinda think of him as a percussionist using a bass. I like the different aesthetic always did ^^
Everyone trying to compare Fieldy to other bass players who showcase more of their talent on record; we have no clue how good he can play when he is at "full power", and based on his L.A.P.D. days he has some amazingly percussive bass talent (tone is a big part of it, mixing and production helped as well)
Without him there is no Korn. Period…his unique style made korn what it is
It sounds to me lije all treble and mids with a gate pedal? How's he getting that tone?
Aaron Davis it’s actually scooped mids.
At first it was kinda lame, but that ending is great
do you mean at 2:00?
you're lame
for the longest time i thought he used pick
What is the second one?
i always wondered what a metal jam band would sound like
What about bass in Korn - Need To?
1:15 what's the name song??
Kidnap the sandy claws :D:D
Where is the 1st and 2nd performance
1st: Woodstock 99 2nd: Montreux 2004. Sorry for the late reply
What strings does this guy play on? Telephone cables?
Your nerves
im 1080p
so clicky
All I hear is “click click click”
get better ears
Does anyone know what song that piece in the middle was from where they were sitting on the stage?...
Its just a jam session. Its not based off an actual Korn song
ADIDAS Live
The second one is beutiful
what the name of the last song?
Falling away from me
"1080" "p"
Title please 1:16 ??
Good enough to have a ten year old fill in for him
Cómo se llama la
Canción del principio
porno creep
what's the song on 1:15?
kidnap the santy clause from the nightmare before Christmas revisited album.
@@zombiefreaktank wtf
Dude raise the action a bit
That heavy slap hit is part of his sound. He's playing it perfectly
soy muy fan de korn pero personalmente Fieldy no es mi bajista preferido, Pero no hay que quitarle creditos, sin el korn no seria lo que es hoy, seamos objetivos y no criticar por criticar.
Paz
song at 1:15?
Kidnap the sandy clause
Fields is the most polarizing bass player to me, I love him as a musician and his playing works perfectly for Korn as a band, but his tone is so scooped it makes Metallica sound like a rich midrange
Song at 0:38?
I think its Ego Brain By SOAD
Very edited Ego Brain.
Oh no I'm sorry. Its One by Metallica
It is a song? I thought it was an improvisation from that live a.d.i.d.a.s start at Montreux 04'
its just a random jamming interlude.
This was anything but being awesome on bass
0:45 what song is that ?
Just some interlude in a concert.
Just before ADIDAS
Wich live video is this pleeaase
1:00 was that a Death song?
no it's Korn's version of kidnap the Santy Clause from Nightmare before Christmas
It sounds like the bridge in Spirit Crusher.
+gasmaskboi19371945 ...not really but ok
gasmaskboi19371945 it kind of does
song at 1:16?
Kidnap the sandy claws
Which song is the first one?
Porno Creep off Life is Peachy
Porno Creep
first song? 0:00
Porno creep from life is peachy
Metalists shit hard on these guys for having a hip hop/gangsta rap influence and playing with niggaz like Ice Cube. H8ers gonna h8, bitch.
I like the fret buzz. Kinda reminds me of a Sitar-type sound.
Click clack clickety clack
Lol Korns bass comes completely from the guitars
Am i the only one who can never hear what hes playing?
Jason Kmiec yes
XD
One of the greatest bass players ever
Korn's original and that's it without Fieldy they are not really whole without Head they're not whole and Ray Is Best Because David Said A Lot of Bad Stuff and He Is Nothing Without Korn. So Freaking Awesome Korn Rules.
Youth begin Marshall ways arec blind wait of waking am.. __ is
This not the best Bass Performance I seen him do
Fieldy is built for bass, im soo glad he sucked at guitar.haha
nope, he's not
Hate on my comment all you want but he has groove not any crazy skill just groove
What's the name of song on 1:30
isn't that "Falling Away From Me"?
Andres Guzman-Ballen thanks
@@144games Really? I could have sworn it was “falling away from me”
Fieldy is like the Lars Urlich of Korn...
LOL
Hahaha
Hahaha well said
Calm down kiddo. You're in no position to judge Ulrich or Fieldy.
@@albutcher9152 Calm down grandpa. Seems like you're in no position to take a joke.
I think he would be awful for any other band but for Korn it kind of works
I always wanted to know how to get my bass to sound like an ice cream stick stuck in the spokes of my bike.
Now I know.
Ahhhhhh idno. ...kinda sux.jhonathan is awsome tho
This Buzzy sound on the bass guitar Is a real shit.
Mofos acting like every bassist needs to be Charles Berthound. Music would suck without pioneers and non-classically trained musicians.
He compared himself to Flea?
You know... DJ Khalid has a very similar style to Fieldy. If they ever needed another replacement player who's all ego and no talent, they could hire him out and nobody's ears would know.
Typical Wannabe loser shit. You can't play like Fieldy, if you think you're better than him you're dreaming. So sftu kiddo.
idk why but his tone gives me a toothache
Oh, now I get it; you were being sarcastic.
