I can't remember the gearing but I know it was higher than what is recommended for a castle 1/10 setup. It was so cheap I ran it pretty hard to see how long it would last. It did run a lot of 90degree plus days. But it eventually melted the speed control. Much better than the surpass hobby.
The esc should be defaulted at 3.1v per cell. To be sure you could run it with a nimh battery and if it suddenly dies after running a while instead of constantly getting slower you know its working.
I can't remember what size the gears were as this was 3 years ago. But I do know it was a lot. Probably a couple more teeth on the pinion than what castles recommends. It was geared to see how long it would last, not to last long.
It should be defaulted to 3.1 volts per cell. If you wanna be sure you can always run it the first time with a nimh battery and see if it suddenly stops instead of gradually slowing down like it would in nimh mode. A programming card can be had on Amazon for around 10$.
@@jairomartinez3910 quite a while. I'm not sure how many packs I got through it. It was better than the surpass 1/10. I think one of my videos has the speed control melted. It took a while to break it. I drove it pretty hard with high gearing but mostly with 2s being even that is no traction on a 2wd. I have an original 10 year old sct castle setup on it now. But I'm a little easier on it being they are so expensive.
You do not. It is pretty much ready to go. A 10$ card doesn't hurt to have. You might run a low voltage alarm the first time you run it or a nimh if you don't have a card. Just to be safe.

You're right the fan isn't waterproof. But removing the fan on these isn't practical since you'll eventually strip out the screw threads since the plastic cover is held on by four small screws that go into the lower case. The screws should go through the protective case, then through the fans mounting holes and into the heatsink (if it was threaded) but unfortunately they didn't design it that way.
It will work fine. I would pay close attention to make sure it is set to default for a lipo not a nimh if using a lipo. A program card is 10 dollars I think.
@@nickwilliams6869 you can run a nimh battery to see if it shuts off at all at a certain voltage. If not it's in nimh mode. And check the voltage on the charger.
It's the tires rubbing the body. It wouldn't have enough power to wheelie if it was that loose. That setup has been gone a long time. Thanks for watching!
God I wish you people would buy stuff and actually pretend to know anything about it. That esc cannot take 6s dude it's probably gonna burn up and you can only run one 3s battery not 2
You can if you run them in parallel. Which would still be 3s. Done it many many times. 6s would be series. Nobody is saying this is 6s capable. I can do a video on series and parallel connections if you like.
just bought one, but other brand. Its working really great.
I had the same esc, and can tell you mine fried the first puddle I drove through with my buggy...
Hey I just bought the same setup to try
I made mine monster slash also
What gearing setup are you using? Spur/pinion? No overheating?

Best video opening ever
Thanks for watching man
My goolrc motor has a 5mm shaft and none of my other gears fit. What tooth pinion and spur gear would you recommend?
Its a 32 pitch. I would go 2 teeth up on the pinion at least.
great video. how do you ensure that the esc is in lipo cutoff mode? mine came without a manual and i dont have the program card
The esc should be defaulted at 3.1v per cell. To be sure you could run it with a nimh battery and if it suddenly dies after running a while instead of constantly getting slower you know its working.
Hobbies and Hotrods awesome thanks
I scanned the instructions and will add them to a programming card video.
Can you post the pinion that you needed Mabe even spur new to this bro but eyeing the brushless system you got

Your opinion gear seems like it slipped
Your probably hearing the tires rubbing the body
Is that a dual Y adapter for the batteries?
Yes.
What's your slash top out at
I'm not sure. That's a video yet to be made. probably 35mph the way its geared now. Maybe we can break 50?
Can you do a review on the dhk hunter and do a tutorial on how to replace a motor on it please?
I'm in between jobs right now so it will be a while. And that's if its on sale or incredibly generically priced.
@@twin2turbo87 its around $160- $200 and its 4wd
How has it held up running those 3s batteries in it? Just ordered this exact kit today
No issues so far. I think on crazy hot days it may be at its temp limit. But so far no issues.
@@twin2turbo87 how do you know if its on lipo mode? Or does the esc already come "programed" with it

It was 20/90.
The fan is not waterproof the manual that I got with a very similar looking EFC said to remove the fan before running it in water.
