Hi i have a problem, I bought a lil brushless combo online and it was dirt cheap. It looked very good so i gave it a try and the top speed is very good but when i wanna get of the line i give full throttle and the motor makes sounds for 1-3 seconds and then drives normally as nothing happens. But always when i wanna start to drive or wanna go uphill at low speeds, it makes this. Has anyone a fix for that?
Does it only do it at low speed? Most of the cheap brushless setuos are non-sensored. Which means at low speed it will "cog" or move erratically, jerking as it goes. Then when you apply more throttle it smooths out. Sounds like this is your issue.
Yes, all sensorless brushless motors will cog badly at low speeds. Benefit: They're typically less expensive than sensored and considered more waterproof than sensored. Sensored motors have a wire running from the motor to the esc. Most are considered not waterproof because of this, although some manufactures are producing them as waterproof now. Benefit: Sensored brushless motors run silky smooth at low RPM. Check out the Hobbywing AXE, it's CRAZY how smooth they got it! Hope that helps! 👊
@@poorboysrc never knew that I thought they just always used screws till I saw this ESC but I have one other question, I wanna know about what gearing it can handle

@@JeepsCafe hey now there's an offer I can't refuse! I was at the new Viking Stadium a few years back, Metallica played there, it was insane! If they ever go back I might pop in for a visit and a Blackfoot! 🤣 (and of course you'll get all the props on the channel!)
@@poorboysrc awesome!
Mine doesn't go but she supports my hobby and tells me to get out and go rc'ing with my buddies more than I do
That's awesome man! As long as she supports it, that's all that matters! 👍🏻
I ran mine through water, that is why I am now watching videos of cheap motor/esc combo to find a better replacement.
For something better quality, try the Spektrum Firma lineup. I've got them in a few kits now and I love it! Waterproof, programmable and not cheap junk like this esc is. 🤣
You might want to try and set throttle end points. I bought a set for $25 bucks that was the same thing and after I did that it was okay
How did you set your end points? The instructions my combo came with don't provide any EPA setup methods. From what I can tell this esc is supposed to be a "plug and play" like Hobbywing, etc...
@@poorboysrc I want to say I RUclips it lol. But you might turn it on with the throttle pressed all the way then it beeps and immediately put full reverse. Definitely take the tires off for this. I didn't once my axial bomber climbed the garage wall really fast.🤣
@@ryanwebster2167 hahaha I did the same thing with a 1/8 e-buggy about 10 years ago... Chewed a hole in the floor in about 5 seconds! Lol! 🤣
Thanks for the advice, I'll start playing with it and see if I can manage to get it calibrated.
U running a Lipo pack ? If not it sounds like its in the wrong mode on the esc....i dont run brushless but it sounds like it...it could be a dud esc....reach out to to their customer service if not return it....:)
Or its wired wrong from the factory...it sounds from the being almost like the polarity is wrong too? Maybe
Yeah pal I'm running lipo. I tried several different configurations. Lipo, nimh, even tried using the motor with a different esc, no luck. It ran for a few seconds and that was about it. 😭
@@Tailgatesntoolboxes I thought that too. Tried many different wiring combos off camera... no go.
So lucky r u.... I guess I'm lucky also, my girlfriend tolerates and supports us kids. ... she is the Secretary/Treasurer of our local club and does a lot for us kids to he able to race... but she doesn't drive RCs at all... would be cool to enjoy together, even just casual driving around the park or street...or...
That's great that she's supportive. Buy her a kit, a fun kit, build it together, let her paint it up her way, she'll be hooked! 🤩
Will this fit in something like a Axial scx10 transmission
It will fit, but it's not what you want in a crawler. It's way too fast. Look at the spektrum 2-in-1 motor/esc. They're wicked in a crawler! 👍🏻
@@poorboysrc I'm trying to build the world's fastest crawler on a Budget So trying to find something cheap But fast thank you.
@@adamharvey2902 oh, hahaha. Well then yes, this will work.
The boomerang. I had one as a kid
Fun buggy!
Turn the throttle trim down mine did the same. The throttle trim on ur remote is too high
That fixed it, thanks man!
I got one sent to me with two of the wire not attached they were held on by shrink tube lol
Oh man, that's brutal!!! 🤦
I wish we could get my wife to get involved with us. Maybe then she’d understand why Grayson and I love it so much
Just get her out one time and she'll be hooked! (Hopefully) 😆🍻
that esc has its own program card
Cool stuff, I wasn't aware of that. 👍🏻
Hi i have a problem,
I bought a lil brushless combo online and it was dirt cheap.
@@poorboysrc yes it is so i only can fix it with buying a sensorless system?
Yes, all sensorless brushless motors will cog badly at low speeds. Benefit: They're typically less expensive than sensored and considered more waterproof than sensored.
Sensored motors have a wire running from the motor to the esc. Most are considered not waterproof because of this, although some manufactures are producing them as waterproof now. Benefit: Sensored brushless motors run silky smooth at low RPM. Check out the Hobbywing AXE, it's CRAZY how smooth they got it!
Hope that helps! 👊
I have the rustler 2wd and I have no clue on how to mount the esc
Just use some 2-sided tape and tape it to the chassis. 👊
@@poorboysrc so tape will actually hold up? 😂
@@La01781 sure will, most kits come with tape for this very purpose. I use it on all of mine, works great! 👌
@@poorboysrc never knew that I thought they just always used screws till I saw this ESC but I have one other question, I wanna know about what gearing it can handle
@@La01781 I would stick with the gearing the kit manual suggests. If you're looking for more speed you can start increasing pinion size, but monitor motor and esc Temps to make sure you don't over gear. 👊
I've always found eBay to be a bit of a lottery when ordering RC parts
You said it, Rich! I've had great luck on eBay and Amazon for years, but my last couple orders have been duds. 😭
@@poorboysrc it's such a hard balance isn't it? You can find some absolute bargains on both but occasionally as you said you end up with duds and end up paying twice 🤦♂️
@@richsmith6810 you got it! Ah well, take the good with the bad, right! Have a great weekend pal! 🤙
No just turn all your transmitter this means your throttle or reverse is not set to 0 mess with your transmitter settings it will work lol
I have this it done this with me lol it's a good set up you just need to reset your transmitter settings lol it's for safety so it doesn't take off when you turn it on lol
I checked the transmitter, it was set to 0 trim. Also tried reversing the channel, but still nothing...
@@poorboysrc try rebinding the transmitter that can also be the issue can be temperamental when setting it up but mine now runs fine getting 60 mph in my 1/10 drift car and it's not waterproof I'd say water resistant a little lol but good luck with the ESC
@@K1LT3DSN1P3R ok pal I'll give it a go today. Lots of good advice coming in from you guys so I've got a few things to try. If I works I'll change the thumbnail, I promise! 🤣
I won't tell the wife u got the cheao ebay stuff 😆
Hahahaha thanks pal! 🤣
Dude you need to send your ended points.
Yeah I did that, finally got it calibrated that way. ESC is still meh in my opinion, but the motors are decent!
I wrench while she cooks we call it a fair trade
Haha, solid relationship! 👌
That sucks brotha, have you tried hitting it with a hammer lol!!! unfortunately in this hobby, if you buy cheap junk you get cheap junk! i've "learned" this lesson the hard way a few times.
I was thiiiis close to getting the hammer out, Bill! 🤣
Reverse your two outside motor wires
