I consider this shot at 0:02 where Obi-Wan places his hand on Padme to make sure she's okay one of the most important shots in this scene and the whole movie, because it shows how far Anakin had fallen. While Obi-Wan is checking on her condition like any decent person would, Anakin, the one madly in love with Padme and who fell to the dark side for her, is ranting about what he has done for the nascent Empire instead of being concerned for his unconscious, pregnant wife, whom he had just strangled not even a minute prior.
Anakin has made his relationship with Padmé about making Anakin feel happy, not about loving Padmé. Anakin did that the moment he considered Sidious’s offer, honestly, since it should have been obvious that Padmé would never want to be saved at the cost the Sith would exact. Anakin’s selfish clinging-his need to have Padmé in his life at all costs regardless of what she wants-is not love. It’s attachment, as the Jedi define attachment, and Anakin is graciously demonstrating why attachment is a bad thing.
@@GrapeCheckerBoardworse than attachment, OBSESSION. Is that too R rated for Star Wars? Anakin is obsessed with his emotions and guilt when he can’t save the ones he loves. It drives his every action, until he becomes obsessed with power and control itself.
