    Personally, I love that they left Anakin with his blue saber. To me, it always added a much more devastating, gut-wrenching feeling seeing two blue sabers going against each other with the perfect red fiery background as it captivated that feeling of betrayal and loss as two people, who were once brothers now turned enemies, have to fight to the death. Not to mention that those two blue sabers weren’t just any sabers, as they were Anakin’s and Obi Wan’s. Seeing the two blue sabers swinging at each other really made me think to myself “how did it come to this?” Adding so much more emotion to the scene for me.

      Sorry but in my opinion everything about Anakin/Vader in the end makes little sense. Right before he cut off Mace's hand he was crying out about what the "jedi way" is and that they shouldnt kill Palpatine. But immediatly after cutting his hand off Anakin is heading off to go slaughter children and kill his best friend.Hayden turning soooooo evil in literally less than 24 hours and all because he cut off a hand was a pretty weak sell. I get that there were many events leading building up to it. But this moment shouldnt have been the climax of it all.

    • @BennettCharles23
      @BennettCharles23 2 года назад

      @North Bridge I hear you. That is an astute obversation. That being said, there is a bold and broad line from "Sith and Jedi use same logic" to, let me go MURDER CHILDREN! Ya know. I've watched all the Clones Wars animated series multiple times and I get that there were many events leading up to Anakin's betrayal - but Anakin went full on evil video game boss....even when he said "from my perspective the Jedi are evil"....well that means that he believed the Sith are good and in the name of this new found good side, he, and I say again....MURDERED DOZENS (or Hundreds) of CHILDREN🤣

    • @BennettCharles23
      @BennettCharles23 2 года назад +4

      @North Bridge Oh for sure! I agree. Terrible writing. Most of that trilogy was terrible writing. From Anakin saying "I wish I could wish away my feelings" to Anakin saying "I hate sand."...just absolute terrible writing....same with Padme's character. In episode 1 she serves as a mother figure to Anakin, which makes sense since she is so much older. In the begining of Attack of the clones Anakin creeps her out but then they have a talk about sand and she falls in love with him. Then Anakin murders tuskin raiders, women/children and Padme is all "Oh Annie! Its ok" I still love you even though everything you did is against the Jedi code/absolutely horrific. But her death was the most hilarious. How did she die "from a broken heart"....as poor as the new trilogy was, episodes 1-3 easily have the worst writing.

      Anakin has been sold as intelligent, prudent, the less reckless of the two and has precognition so he would know the jump would fail and would never have attempted it.
      Obiwan throughout the series wins purely due to plot armor, they do not even try to explain how he wins against Maul nor Grievous.
      What they should have used was that Obiwan is better trained in the force and simply uses something that Anakin was never taught to defeat him.

If Lucas really did try drawing some sort of parallel between that silliness and the bitter, poignant, devastating clash between these two brothers is not just lazy and stupid, it's downright insulting. And all of this ignores the fact that in several movies, Jedi have force-jumped VASTLY higher than anything in this fight -- so why jump right into melee range? Why not leap 30' in the air and come down like a vengeful Sith Lord? Cuz they had no idea how to force the loss that everything else in their plot depended on. the whole finding a jedi's crystal and "bleeding" it is to try hard and edgy for edgy sake imo. Made much more sense for sith to grow synthetic perfect crystals like was in legends already. A sith would not waste time seeking an imperfect crystal and would instead manufacture a perfect one like fake diamonds and instead spend the time training and increasing their power and knowledge.
      The old synthetic sith crystals Played well into the duality of jedi and sith too as jedi seek out natural crystals thru the force and sith create them and take the shortcuts to perfection.
      Natural vs. Synthetic was a much cooler idea in my opinion than a bloody crystal and played into the duality that permeates star wars. Sith are very utilitarian and don't care about their weapons color enough to waste time changing it... actually the opposite was the case and they cared so little about the color that they used synthetic crystals as they were perfect and always stable, not to mention much easier to get ahold of.(Just happened to be red because synthetic crystals are red)
      ... to me seems like they are trying to retroactively change lightsabers to be more "alive" and loyal like wands from Harry Potter when they were originally just a weapon. Breaking the will of a crystal is plain stupid if you ask me but to each their own, in my headcannon sith still use synthetic sabers.

    People always complain about the dialogue of Anakin in the Prequels, and often forget he is a teenager who literally marries a princess and becomes a knight. He's living a fairytale, and when everything starts to fall apart, that is when Anakin begins to turn to the darkside.
    Another thing to note is that Obi-wan trained Anakin. People complain that Anakin and Obi-wan's fight looks a bit too much like they are widely flailing and doing unnecessary moves, but they aren't. They are essentially fighting a mirror, with Obi-wan prioritizing defense and Anakin being hyper-aggressive, despite being trained in a heavily defensive style. The moment that is most telling is when they do the twirl and for several seconds, nothing happens - they're doing the same defensive move to stave off attacks. Anakin's fighting style only really changes when he becomes Vader and is unable to move as nimbly, and specifically develops a style meant to combat lightsabers.

Also the dodges and Anakin bobbing and weaving, help make his poor decision at the end make more sense. When I first saw it, and even until now, that jump feels out of place. Instead it looks like he just flipped out and lost composure at the end, and tried an ill-advised move. Just imo tho. And it's not like Anakin/Vader ever consciously decides that killing his wife is part of his goals now, he just lashes out in anger after hearing her reject everything he did for her and (supposedly) betraying him to Obi-Wan. Hence him worrying about her safety when he wakes up in the suit. And, of course, the Dark Side takes every bit of anger he has and increases it tenfold.

      The general quick direction of the fall made sense to me given he had no way back after choosing Palps over the Jedi (one having the power he needed), but I wished to see his light side flicker briefly again before he comitted the ultimate sin to prove his new loyalty to Palpatine.

I think Palpatine should have given Anakin/Vader one of his red lightsabers and been like “Strike Down the Jedi and Separatists with this weapon, after this is complete you’ll have proven yourself to the Sith” in my best Palpatine voice. If Anakin tried to jump side ways, Obi-Wan can possibly follow him and then slash him. If Anakin throws lava at him, Obi-Wan can push it back and Anakin would have very little room to dodge it (he can push it back again but we all know from an earlier scene that force attacks from both sides are actually even matched so what that might lead to is lava ends up spilling everywhere but Obi-Wan would have plenty of room to dodge it while Anakin has practically none). There seems to be a lot of choice for outplay but in fact Anakin's options were quite limited.

      Repent and follow Jesus my friend! Repenting doesn't mean confessing your sins to others, but to stop doing them altogether. Belief in Messiah alone is not enough to get you into heaven - Matthew 7:21-23, John 3:3, John 3:36 (ESV is the best translation for John 3:36). Contemplate how the Roman empire fulfilled the role of the beast from the sea in Revelation 13. Revelation 17 confirms that it is in fact Rome. From this we can conclude that A) Jesus is the Son of God and can predict the future or make it happen, B) The world leaders/nations/governments etc have been conspiring together for the last 3000+ years to accomplish the religion of the Israelites C) History as we know it is fake. You don't really need to speculate though because you can start a relationship with God and have proof. Call on the name of Jesus and pray for Him to intervene in your life. - Revelation 3:20
      Revelation has been unfolding since Jesus died. The Popes have claimed to be equal to God and set themselves in Jesus' place (antichrist(s)). Vatican City (Which is its own nation BTW) have risen up to fulfill the role of the false prophet
      Regarding the man of lawlessness or antichrist, 2 Thessalonians 2:4 says “Who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sits in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.” The restrainer that the Apostle Paul was referring to in 2 Thessalonians was the Western Roman Emperor, who held back the Popes from taking power. Once the last Western Roman Emperor was removed from power in 476 AD, the Pope was given civil and ecclesiastic authority over Rome; healing the deadly head wound of the beast in Revelation 13, as they took the Emperors title of Pontifex Maximus, leader of the church and state.
      “We may according to the fullness of our power, dispose of the law and dispense above the law. Those whom the Pope of Rome doth separate, it is not a man that separates them but God. For the Pope holdeth place on earth, not simply of a man but of the true God.” (Source: “Decretals of Gregory IX,” Book 1, chapter 3.)
      Pope Pius V blasphemed, “The Pope and God are the same, so he has all power in Heaven and earth.” (Source: Pope Pius V, quoted in Barclay, Cities Petrus Bertanous Chapter XXVII: 218.)
      Pope Leo XIII declared, “We hold upon this earth the place of God Almighty.” (Source: Pope Leo XIII Encyclical Letter, June 20, 1894)
      The antichrist sea beast of Revelation points to the office of the papacy, the Popes of Rome, who controlled the Roman beast for 1,260 years, from 538-1798 AD.
      Daniel 7:25 says “And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.” The Popes of Rome spoke against Elohim and proclaimed to be God. They reigned for 1,260 years, from 538-1798 AD. during which they caused tens of millions of saints to be killed.
      The Pope’s title is Vicar of Christ, which in Latin is ‘Vicarius Filii Dei’, and equates numerically to the number 666

      The Sith's red sabers came from a ritual where they they killed a Jedi in battle and took the cyber crystal from their lightsabers, poured their hatred until the crystal turned red. There's the comic story of how Vader created his lightsaber and the process took some time. There would have maybe been enough time for Vader to take one of the cyber crystals from the attack on the temple and perform the ritual, but then it would have been from a random Jedi. Makes me wonder how the other Sith (Maul, Dooku, Ventress, etc.) got theirs while still in hiding, but it does explain how Grevious doesn't have even one red lightsaber since he was not a forcewielder. They probably also went with the blue saber for the duel because it was the first duel with both Jedi sabers and they wanted to prioritize how Kenobi was fighting a friend and Jedi, not just another Sith.

    if you ask me a lot of these ideas got reappropriated for the Kenobi show anyway. Im still happy with the finished film version of the fight, and thats normally how it goes with filmmaking, the sequence is more over stuffed at the beginning in the assembly as they are not sure how much footage they will needed so they make it longer, and trim it down till what they think is the very best bits that ends up in the 20 minutes, they make the best calls they think at the time. But yeah any ideas left on the table like i say can make it into subsequent Star Wars media so its not gone forever :)
    Good video, keep up the Good work! ^_^
    Also, like you say the bit with the balance beam, Obi wan getting debris thrown at him was more overtop, yeah agreed but there you go its a long sequence and they probably thought do we need a funny bit in the middle to let down the tension? They don't know and its hard to say how far is too far? when they look at it all cut together they can see if its too much and they scale back abit till they feel its the right balance of things.
