Thanks for the intriguing video. I think OD303 is a super cardioid mic and should be compared to Shure beta 58a, another super cardioid mic with similarly boosted hi and attenuated low, rather than the cardioid SM58.

The SM58 has crunchy, hyped harshness from the transformer in the handle that every other mic at this price point doesn’t seem to have. However, everything else about the SM58 is great and makes it the go-to mic for live stage. After switching out the handle with a Crimson Audio transformer, that harshness from my SM57/58s were gone. Vocals require less cut for harshness and cleaner high frequency “air”. Female vocals especially benefit from the transformer handle swap. It’s almost like singing into an SM7b.

I like that Austrian mic. Any issues in sound quality when off center?

i don’t like the muddy, dull SM58 sound at all - I think the „SM“ stands for „sad musician“ or even „Sado Maso“ - there is a reason, why the SM58 is so immune to plosives: nothing really gets through !!! 🙈🙈🙈
