@Hedgebets100 it depends. Sporting hadnt won the league for nearly 20yrs and were the 3rd of the big 3. It was a huge risk for Amorim to put faith in half the team being from the academy, it could have backfired easily. Point being, he is happy to give 17, 18 yr old players a chance. Our academy is on fire, so we could be set up well for future
@sickboy6663 It doesn't really depend. Factually, the PL is significantly stronger than the Portugese League. Coming through at Sporting is a lot easier than Utd. Our youth teams look good for sure,. But the step up is monumental. There may or may not be the standard of ability or character in the system that's good enough. Time will tell.
@sickboy6663 I'm happen to look at 5 examples, outside of the class of 92 of course, where a manager has done this in the PL. Or say La Liga and you can use Masia 😉
@@Hedgebets100 well if your comparing to the EPL, those youngsters knocked Arsenal out of Europe and just hammered Pep's City 4-1. Regardless, your still missing the point...im referring to his eagerness to use youngsters if theyre good enough. Im not saying he will promote 5 next weekend, im saying he will use the academy in the future.
You send a young fella to Italy for a few months and he comes back eloquent and cultured. Don't know whats in the water over there but they had that Renaissance thing - so its not the first time. Mrs McTominay must be shocked.
My only worry with amass is that neither ten hag or ruud played him at all even in the league cup, so I feel like he’s not ready or there’s other issues we don’t know about
He's been struggling with the step up to u21 football massively so I doubt he'll be anywhere near anytime soon but tbf same goes for everybody else on this list except Matato.
@@espben360 I agree, my issue is that we have had zero fit left backs surely the games against Barnsley and Leicester in the cup would have been perfect to give him a chance, the fact he didn’t even come off the bench is what concerns me
Where’s Ibragimov? Amorim mentioned he wants to create an identity and bring back the character that defined our players in the past. Amir epitomizes what it means to be a Manchester United player-relentlessly hardworking, overflowing with desire, and technically brilliant.
He’s gonna be an unreal player when he gets his chance but from what ive seen and heard, he’s not quite ready yet… Shea Lacey is another one but he seems to be injury prone, hopefully he’ll get that sorted!!
@@paulstack8615 I agree he isnt quite ready and hasnt really transformed his performance to the 18s which will obviously take some time, but one thing thats for certain is the kid is a grafter. Bare in mind he is a whole year younger than Lacey.
The academy is set to dominate the senior squad in the next three years. These young talents are poised to make United even greater. With Amorim at the helm, the future looks incredibly bright!
Could even see Amass doing well as right wing back. Great dribbler and could provide a new dimension as a left footer playing inverted, combining with the likes of Bruno, Kobbie, Amad
Not sure he actually rated any of those players though - shown by his willingness to let them leave. Played them more out of desperation. Injury crisis, lack of squad depth etc
@@lukehutchy Was going to say exactly this. 1 is a push, 2 would be incredible. All 6? Yeah, just not going to happen. I'd put good money on at least 3 of those players no longer being at the club in 2/3 years tbh.
Upvote just for the comment about TH not bringing through youngsters. It annoyed me no end that he sold lots of our young players, like Fernandez, and only brought through the obvious two. He barely even played Amad who is clearly 1,284,139 times better than Antony.
Out of interest, why is it that the names that keep coming up again and again when talking about our Academy is the U18s? What's going on with the U21s? Are we saying the players are progressing to the U21s and falling off the face of the Earth? Or that if you don't make it after U18s you have no future? I'm sure we have good players in the U21s. I get that the U18s are killing it for the 2nd/3rd year in a row but I think the U21s need to get some spotlight too.
The problem with football fans these days. We don't want to see a player develop at all. They either do exactly what we want from day one or they need to be sold.
Weird i was just thinking when are we gonna see an academy video and who could feature from the youth under Amorim, as we have injuries and out of form players.
I’ll be shocked if Obi Martin gets a chance at the first team by the end of NEXT season . He’s super immature and needs to work on his attitude . Biancheri is miles ahead of him .
@ I don’t need to have met him . I’ve seen what he does on the pitch . In a TEAM full of players , when one decides it’s more about him than the TEAM , then that’s a problem .
For the love of god, Man Utd fans please stop pushing underdeveloped inexperienced young players ahead of their time as options for the 1st team. There's a world of difference between Branthwaite or even a Yoro and a 16 yr old CB with potential and only youth team experience. Do you want to finish 8th forever?!
Youngsters are people and not objects. 'Who' instead of 'which' would be far more appropriate don't you think?. Under 30(selfie generation) cannot be used as an excuse for illiterate. Or can it?
People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones! You failed to cite the author of the original post that you are responding to. If you are going to employ the rules of formal Grammar you should have written; 'illiteracy' instead of "illiterate." Furthermore, "Or can it?" is not a proper sentence. Every (formally written) sentence requires at least a verb and a subject in order to present a complete and coherent thought in a grammatically correct manner. You should have used the word; 'Being' at the beginning of the sentence; "Under 30...."). Moreover, you should have written; 'the' selfie generation.
Happy to see Mctominay doing well at Napoli, but still have time for academy reviews with paddock
if Rasmus and Scott had a kid, he'd look like him lol.
I just think he wasn't quite up to the standard needed to be a top team in the Premier League - he wasn't far short of it.

Honestly don’t know how he does it. Must be the time difference.
The main City fan channel has a segment like this too, only they talk about newly discovered oil fields.

Morning lads. Been waiting for a vid about this. Amorim brought through 5 youngsters in the 1st season at Sporting, think he will love the academy
Bringing 5 through in Portugal and bringing 5 through in the PL are 2 very different things.
But we can always hope.

This guy should be working for United
In what role? Respectfully, their academy strategy already seem to be doing OK
Same for me, I’ve always been excited about the academy and the prospects that are in there, and that’s the United DNA 💯

Amass is very very far from a “great dribbler” at a premier league level. You haven’t got a scooby

Kambwala, Hannibal, Omani Forson, etc

Surely we should be talking about the U20s first. Those players are much closer to making the 1st team squad than anyone in the U18s.
Great video 👍
I hope this i hope this Fin-is-Scotty joke keeps running far after it gets old 🤣🤣
Amass, Kukonki, Fletcher, Lacey, Ibragimov & Obi-Martin for me will thrive
