Great video, for the Free/ Gratis stuff on the street I would first check the law of the town. Some towns don't allowd this or say you only can leave it out for 2-3 days or so.
Thanks for bringing that up, I didn't know about it! Will have to check for the regulations in Neuchatel. But personally I would normally recommend people to take the things (if they can) to the charity shop, as leaving things out on the street can get messy.
Hi, You are very knowledgable on this topic! May I ask how you know all this? I would like to learn more regarding canton Zurich specifically since I am thinking of starting an app allowing people to help each other recycle. Thanks in advance! Mathias
Hi That's a great idea! I read all the information on the website on our commune. They also gave us some brochures. Also some things you just learn from others who have lived here for longer.🙂 Good luck with your app!
Thank you very much for the info! When it comes to plastic such as salad packaging (for example) where does it go? And the tetrapak goes then on the taxed bags (in neuchatel?) Thank you!
So in terms of plastic, essentially in Switzerland you can only recycle PET bottles and hard plastics. Everything else, including soft plastics like salad bags, or things like plastic trays for fruits or meat need to go into general waste (the taxed bag). Yes, same for tetrapack in Neuchatel, it goes in the taxed bags.🙂
Hi! We actually don't use the bags in our bio waste bin, so I wouldn't be able to advise you on that. In addition, the different communes have different rules about the bags and what can go inside the bio waste bin. I recommend you to send an email to your commune and ask them what kind of bags you are allowed to use. They are normally sold either in grocery stores like Coop or in diy shops like Jumbo.
Normally when I rip it off, it tears off the top layer of cardboard, so not much glue is left there. But even if there is some glue left, that's still better than the strong plastic tape. Because when the cardboard boxes are recycled, they go through the shredders, which get clogged up by the tape.
Haha! Yup, pretty much 😅 I mean, I did include pretty much all the groups of items you can recycle, so that the information is there, if needed. 🤓 In reality, on the daily basis most people would deal only with a few groups of materials: metal, glass, paper & cardboard, PET and organic waste. But you are right, if you dig deeper, it does get pretty nuanced pretty quickly.😅
Hi Erika, good explain, but for me is a big ? In Ticino we are tourists of the waste😮 because i don't want give to the council more tax money we started to separate pet and paper and some glass and i have only general wast and paper near me, iron and glass at 200 mt, organic only to the recycling center 1km from my place should i take the car?the rest goes on the bin even because they collect paper carboard boxes and incenerated, also part of the pet goes burn, we need to sell the heating, i didn't know Geneva they can use the normal bag but in which way the pay? Italian do it much better and but it's crazy what you haveto remember, here we can put all in the bag because we pay😱🙈 are you shure that it's not allowed to put batteries in the waste? Germany give you back the deposit of pet if you bring back to the shops, people in Berlin goes around chasing plastic bottles from tourists and they pay the rent of the apartment with those money 😂
Why do you say 'In Ticino we are tourists of the waste'? I'm pretty sure the PET bottles from the PET bottle recycling point are not burnt. Because the companies that sell drinks in those bottles are obliged to recycle them into new bottles by law. There are specific recycling targets (I think something like 75%) and if those are not reached, the government will have to bring in stricter measures. I think that in Geneva you probably just pay the yearly waste disposal fee, and it's probably higher than here in Neuchatel. Definitely never put batteries in general waste, only into the recycling points. They are considered hazardous waste. And also by recycling batteries, valuable materials are recovered, which means that they can be re-used instead of spending a lot of resourced to extract them new from the ground. Haha, I think you would need to collect a lot of bottles to pay for the rent!😅 But then on a similar note - in Latvia some people make a living by collecting and handing in scrap metal.
@@positano3290 It's interesting to learn how the system works in different countries, thanks for sharing!👍🙂 Do you know what Mexico does with their general waste?
@@OurSwissAdventure because we need the car to go at recycling point, and the other point it's not with all the different bin, exp, near my house we got paper and general, 200 mt we have paper metal glass and general but for PET i need to go in a shop, also in the recycling point you cant bring all the plastic bottles so you keep going around to move rubbish....and when i don't have time i put all together in the bag🤷♂️because i worked for the company that take the waste from recycling point and bring to the oven🙈🤷♂️ that's how work in Lugano, in Italy they have recycling point where you can put 2 things in the same bin, exp paper and iron but not here 👋👋
@@pippopapero5373 Ah, okay, I understand. It's annoying that you have to travel to all the different points to recycle different materials. In the UK in Cambridge we put all dry recycling mixed together. I recommend you look into companies like Packesel Reservice, Mr Green and Recycling Sack. Unfortunately I think these specific ones do not work in Ticino, but maybe there are some others that do. But the concept is that you sign up with them and then you get special bags, where you can put all different kinds of recycling together. They collect these bags and then separate everything themselves. I don't know, maybe this could be useful for you.🙂
What do you think of the recycling system in Switzerland? Is it better or worse than where you lived before?🙂 I'm interested to hear your thoughts!
Really is too complex add another task into your head and is only for trash. Don’t worth it
Thank you for all the information !
A comprehensive guide !
Glad you liked it 👍

Hi, do I need to use a special type of bag for the recycling bins or does anything work? Thanks in advance
Everything that is put into the recycling bins has to be loose, so not inside any bags.
Great job.. can you provide a link for bio waste bags.. i live in Zurich

Remove adhesive tape from cardboard? How? It's stuck on by design! Even if I tried, the glue would still be all over.

Excellent video! What I understood is that you need a degree on recycling to understand how to do it properly.

Batteries are dangeroud goods, so this is the reason to recycle it seperately at any store
