Power Outage Causes Fire Alarms at a Gas Station

- An ordinary day rapidly changes as the power cuts out and the fire alarms sound at a nearby gas station. The gas station was locked and unattended, I ended up flagging down a police officer. These are some of the video clips I took...
And yeah, that Gentex Commander totally should be replaced! The alarm is yellowed to the point where you can't even see the strobe flash!

There was a power outage at a Target I went to, but no fire alarms went off. When I left it smelled like an electrical burn.
Also glad you did the right thing!
I've never seen a gentex commander so weathered... great video!
Those alarms reminds me that they look abandoned and not used
1:09 that fire alarm is yellowed pretty bad.
Dude, I’m quite surprised to hear that was a false alarm if it was when the power outage in that building caused the alarm. I used to live in this one apartment complex where I dealt with a similar situation for not even a year on a regular basis. Basically, what happened was mostly in the middle of the night, the fire alarms in our building sounded because the staff claim it was a burst pipe in our old building’s parking garage levels. There were also plenty of other times people claim it happened due to some nearby college kids tampering with our building’s alarms, causing you to wake up because the horn strobes were blaring overnight. This was all because there were too many fire alarms in the actual apartments, and thus I moved out earlier this year. But all false alarms aside, these videos you do fire safety and safety in general are the absolute bomb! Keep up the hard work, man.
Dang kids. Good thing you moved out eh?
Pushing that aside, I'm also surprised a power outage caused the fire alarm system to go into alarm.
@@LogicDoesStuff well here in the UK it happens but usually with security alarms
@@Flyyn_Gaming_9 Interesting. I'm surprised and confused how a power outage causes a system to go off. I didn't know security systems can do that too.
In’sNo
The
System sensor right
That’s kind of rare and I never seen a outdoor gentex that has been weather so hard
Something similar happened to me at school once. The power went out and about 3 mins. into it, the fire alarms started going off. Everybody figured it was from the power outage but its also possible some kids took advantage of the power outage to pull the alarm as a prank but nobody ever found out what caused it
There were 2 occasions in 4th grade when the power went out and a random emergency function turned on, 1 near the start of the year the power slightly flickered, we ignored it because the building is 60 yrs old, then the lights go out some turn back on but most still off the AC turned off the tv turned to static and the emergency escape light powered on
2 there was a car crash outside our school, however it still broke the power grid and the primary grid node broke and the power across campus was out the escape lights activate for a moment, we come back from lunch to a warm room, then we go outside to play then head back in, then I go to speech therapy class, when I got back my teacher said hi and told me that the power went out and the AC was off so I just sat at my desk and drew a picture
pretty cool to see a metal pull station outside, although that gentex WGE Is very yellowed, Im glad you did the right thing!!
The system must have an emergency light as an initiating device.
Can you do more of this type of video where alarms go off during power outages or go off randomly IG pls?
My middle school used to have issues like that 24/7 you couldn't get through finals without the alarm going off at least once!! It was always the same excuse too oh yeah a pipe exploded in the gym (I happened to be in the gym once when it happened but in reality the power just went out and then a minute later the alarm went off) but yeah that was fun
Keep up the awesome content! :)
I never had seen a gentex horn before I like that alarm
This happened at school in 2012. The power went out, the shortly after it came back on, the lights flickered a bit, then the fire alarm went off. We thought it was real the first time around. Basically we ended up ignoring it because it was clearly a malfunction
Ser ur my legend and friend showing me vids i love most
In my experience, this is typically due to a faulty detection device. In my experience, I have only seen one pull station cause false alarms from power issues, and this was an addressable Notifier NBG12LX. This is likely a detector which briefly triggers a NAC upon receiving a power surge when the booster panel or FACP switches from battery to main.
Very interesting! I’ve never seen this before
Wow power outage ? That’s cool
Amazing video
Nice video!
Cool Video!
Loved it
That really cool
Cant you use a polish on the gentex outside to remove the oxidation
That looks cool! I want it…
Never seen a Monaco Enterprises, Inc. M-Series panel before. Thoes systems are for U.S Government Installations
This sounds like the exact same system that my work has. The outside cover for the fire alarms has faded as well. Ours is linked to send the fire department because our system works in a nursing home
This sounds like my school fire alarm
this video is my favorite
Dang that alarm is so weathered
I loved your channel as a kid and still do…
Uh… oh god… not the very young me! *PAPER FIRE PULL STATION AND STROBE ALARMS INTENSIFY*
Cool video that outdoor Alarm needs to be replaced 🤢
1:09 i literally screamed EWWWWWW
Looks like I hear Gentex Commander 3s
Alarms are loud beatiful things
This is my favorite 😍 video
I was wondering if you could test out those no name $14 horn strobes on eBay. The ones that just say FIRE at the top in Times New Roman. I am curious on how bad they could be. Or who knows maybe they are decent for a hobby board.
i think one time i saw an as for under $10 on ebay many years ago
Loved da video
I don't think having an outdoor pull station is the best idea. Sure, it'd be a quick way to alert the people that a gas tank is boutta explode or there's a fire outside, but what if some kids come up and pull it as a prank when the station and convenience store are closed? See, not a good idea!
Hey I have a vista 20p alarm system but I can't find out how to wire it do you think you could help?
ruclips.net/video/5v5ToEKssdQ/видео.html
Good lord, how is that gentex so loud?! Did that not hurt your ears? It was really loud even when you weren’t close to the building.
that was interesting, just randomly go off, i know he said that is was sensitive BUT STILL WEIRD! i woke up like 5 mins ago and i didn't see my stove blinking... where are you when this happened?
lmfao that is one seriously sun burned gentex commander 3 or 4 in the thumbnail
commander 4 is ceiling mount
Remember that school fire alarm test what model was the alarm?
Do you think you will open up the ebay store again?
From the look of the panel it looked as though the building had voice evacuation I thought I saw a mic in the one panel.
Yes there is
There are Gentex Commander 3s at my school!
I saw a video of a hotel having power issues and the spectralert classics were clicking and beeping
WOW
Today the fire alarm went off in Kroger and it was a gentext commander 3 with a green strobe
That can't be up to code, fire alarms are supposed to have clear strobes.
@@superstar64 its a general alarm
ik a guy who burnt sausages and set the school firearm off
school called the station to tell them not to come
then after i finished school a builder hit a BGA with a 2×4 and set the alarm off
not they were seperate schools but sausages one was where i was doing a course
bga one was my actual school
note in the bga case the firedept has to come to reset it and insert new piece of material
S.E.R. SAFETY REMEMBER ME
Wow
They should replace the Gentex WGE series because it's yellowed and we can't see the strobe
Beep Bop
What that means?
The chick boom
How do power outages set off fire alarms? I’ve seen it happen before but I never understood how it happens.
battery
Magic
@@julerobb1 uhh no sir its battery belive me
@@Exeulla what about the battery though?
It runs down faster somehow
1:10 That is a GEH remote horn.
Bro that outside alarm was a gentexcomander 3 with out the lights and it look liked it is water damaged
If i shall take a guess, someone probably was lazy and didn't change the backup batteries in 25 years, as happens with most stuff equipped with backup batteries.
Typically the reason why FACPs require annual inspections.... bad batteries can cause a system to falsely trigger... which is why they all get tested without AC in my area... always a power-off FACP test, if the panel goes dead the second the breaker is flipped to the off position, surefire sign of either dead/fried batteries in the main panel (power source panel).. otherwise, S.E.R. can clarify this more.
That hat happend at my school the power went off and a hour later it went off I also heard the panel beeping
Yeah at my school we had a transformer BLOW UP while we were in school the power went out than back on we had to go early but it well be a while the bus came soo I waited and waited but I got thirsty so I asked if I could go in and at first they said no but than they said yes than I went inside and had a drink but I noticed the fire alarm panel was in trouble mode But the fire alarm panel was silenced so I just thought someone already knew it was having trouble and silenced it than people was taping putting caution tape around the transformer that blew up and than I just went with my day.
The name of the fire alarm is gentex commander 2
Wow 0_0
What panel was at the beginning?
A Monaco Enterprises, Inc. M-Series panel. I've been told Monaco-brand panels are commonly used in U.S. government installations (though the building this one is in appears to be a public building instead, making it unusual as Monaco Enterprises panels are rare to see in such buildings).
What fire alarm model os that
Genteel Commander 2 or 3
Gentex alarm I’m guessing the strobe was flashing it’s just the camera not picking it up
Correct, the strobe was also very yellowed making the flash hard to see.
@@SERSafety make sense, it was outside for a long time
that happend to me once
S.E.R investigating the power outage of the gas station but something fr happened the FIRE ALARM WENT OFF!!! CALL FIRE DEPARTMENT
So much for no power meaning that it’s nice and quiet
is that pull station weatherproof?
Yes
isn’t that the commander 2 😮😮😮😮😮😮😅😅😅😅😅😅
Uh oh
❤💕😍
Hi Hello
Its at dominos pizza place.

Dude
36th comment lol
*unoccupide*
Eeeee
Ghdudyri
I know exactly what alarm that is. It is a weatherproof gentex commander 3 that is soooooooo weathered you can’t even see the strobe.
..
A pull station should not be outside because someone could play with the pull station and turn on the fire alarm system as a prank. 🫵🧐
