Personally for me, I don’t need the performance engine...the regular X5 has plenty of power for me...but I love love the m styling. I just ordered a mineral white 2024 x5 with M sport package and 22 inch black wheels. I like both x5 and x6, but I chose the X5 to own because I like the looks of it slightly more and prefer to have more room in back seat and rear storage.
@@gurnealsingh2012 I drove a gle 450 and did not like it as much. But it is a super nice car. Love the new bmw interior and free service for 3 years….mercedes that I had before cost me a lot for a service package. I think both are nice…it’s just up to the person on which they prefer.
@@MotoManTVI drive one as a daily driver. The reason why they don't need buttons is the car remembers what temperature and vent settings you like, and sets it automatically. As for the transmission - it's a slight difference between modes, comfort makes it less jumpy off the line.
No one wants shiny plastic. It's simply down to cost of materials and cost of manufacturing increasing. Car makers have to cut costs somewhere and that usually lands on sacrificing quality.
Great review considering you were soon to be kicked out. I have a 2023 X5M Competition and think that it is the BMW sweet spot of digital and buttons. I enjoy having 8 buttons that I can program to do what I want as well as a "normal" HVAC interface. I'm not a fan of moving everything to a digital interface but all of the Germans appear to be going that way for the moment. VW seems to be rethinking and reversing course based on what I've been reading.
Im glad I got my car with iDrive 7. What I hated the most about the latest Audi infotainment system had to be the dual screens. Everything being locked behind a menu takes too much attention from driving. In iDrive 7 I make full use of the memory buttons, M1/2, and rarely mess with the screen aside from CarPlay or adjusting the chassis. iDrive 7 has the perfect layout once you take time to set your profile up
I prefer the X5 over either the X4 or X6. My wife has a Q5 Sportback which is the X4 equivalent in the Audi lineup. I just don’t like BMW’s interpretation in the Coupe SUV world. I think they nailed the X5 though. Great collaboration with Andre and everyone at TFL.
Personal I am going with the X5 M60i, but what I would get rid of on the X5m Comp is the massage seats and lose the sunroof and add a carbon roof🤙 I would get rid off the curved screen and just update the old screen with the IDrive 8, I like my physical buttons for the radio and comfort control.
As a 2021 X6M Comp owner they changed NOTHING about this 2024 model except idrive 8, the front fascia, ruining the DRLs and that's it. The HP/Torque numbers are unchanged despite the mild hybrid hype and the wheels ARE NOT a new design. They're the same ones on my 2021 model.
I just bought a 2023 M850ixdrive and also own a 2020 Toyota Supra which as you know is basically a Bmw. Although I like the new screens I would prefer keeping the hard buttons of the entertainment etc as you mention. Its nice to be able to reach down without looking away from the road and changing as much as you can in the older models. I enjoy watching both of you're channels !
These are Competitions, and the same 617hp as the old pre-LCI competitions. Not 625hp. No additional hp was added with the mild-hybrid system. 625hp is a different European figure based off kw conversion calculation, not US spec.
I wish the X6 came with the phev! Do you know why they don't do that? The shape is more conducive for the EV aspect. Also, why can't you get the B&W stereo in the phev? Is it a battery/subwoofer placement thing?
That's more like it, M. Glad to have the deposed leader back on the show. I'd take the X6. I'm warming up to the refresh, but I don't like the black trim connecting the kidneys to the lower grille. I wouldn't give up anything to be honest. Just the adaptive cruise control, I really really don't like the giant radars they stick into the cars. Excellent work like always, M.
To answer your question about what to give up in order to improve performance, I would give up the panoramic sunroof for a carbon fiber roof. Also, I have the iDrive 8 in my M3 Comp and it's awesome. Just like anything else, you get used to the technology.
I own a X5M since 2016 and tried my hands on a friend's Porsche Cayenne turbo. X5M is hands down the best SUV until Porsche brought us Cayenne turbo GT. But a reasonably loaded Cayenne turbo GT MSRP is close to $260K. I was never heated to either X6 or X6M and still don't understand why X6 was built in the first place.
Well gentlemen I just purchased the 24 X6M Competition and I absolutely love it!! I’ve had 3 new X5 M’s and i really was happy but the X6M is more beautiful to me. I am the Coupe fan. I also have the Coupe GLE 63 S Mercedes and love that look too. Good show, just wanted to give u an Owners opinion. Take care
Hey Moto I have been a big fan even from the start. Do you think this new engine sounds any different to previous preface model and does it sound decent stock? - TYVM
Both are sexy but the X6 suffers from too much wheel gap. Interesting the X6 cost more but you can get an air suspension on the X5. ~But let’s talk more about this holder for your *inaudible*
I think the question at the end isn’t understanding the ethos of the car. The point isnt ultimate performance on track or whatever…its about ultimate comfort with enough power to occasionally embarrass a sport car off the line and 90% of the time this thing is going to be hauling groceries.
I have a ‘21 X5M comp, driving in sport plus mode daily is impossible in a city, the torque is so powerful it will jerk the hell out of you, but so powerful. In comfort mode it is faster than most sedan sport cars on the road daily. Just ordered a ‘24 X5M comp. ✔️
No way I would give up creature comfort features for weight in an SUV…these are already quick enough…a few tenths are not going to be noticeable. If you’re talking about a true sports car used at the track, then it’s a viable option to do without.
For some reason the tires/rims look miniature in the X6! You put into words why I have always hated the X4s and the X6s!! If you're going to have all that height, length and weight, at least accept the only benefit that it provides, and that's storage capacity. And BTW the X5 seems to better comport with the Golden Ratio than the Xeven# bretheren.
I don’t like the face lift look. The 2022 definitely looks better. I’ll leave the 2023 bc idk if they put that weird looking iDrive8 in the 2023. 2022 was perfect.
X6 used to be better looking until they messed up the rear, too many creases etc. people that choose X6 do not consider utility. they do not consider practicality, or anything about that being some replacement for some midsize sedans etc. X6 is just different from all the boxy family SUVs, it is a going out car, a fun single seater spaceship, and whatever you can think of in this manner. It has a purpose of being different. And X5 = is just boring like everyone else.
The X6 is still ugly no matter what gets refreshed. 295/35R21s on the front and who knows what 22s on the rear? They'll be at Discount Tire every 12K looking for the cheapest 'round-black-big hole in the middle' things 😅
BMW - had two of them - 7 series and X6 - great driving cars - however, horrible reliability, over priced, and repair costs through the roof - rip off big time.
The front end on that X6M is a 10/10 for me
Absolutely hideous. BMW is taking their design language from Hyundai with their headlights. People are simple minded.

Who told BMW designers consumers want black plastic interiors and exteriors? WHO!?
