Great Video!!! It took me a couple hours and all better now. I look forward to NOT having the slop in the steering. Thank you for posting this video because I would have not have had such confidence going in without it.
I don't see why not. As long as you can get to everything. Mine is mounted on a quick disconnect plate and that makes it much easier to take on and off.
I noticed that when replacing the collier, There is a teflon ring on the top of the collier that you forgot to pull off and place on the new collier. I hope that doesn't cause you any issues down the road.
I have noticed my Terrova has something yours does not. And I cannot even see it on the parts schematics..... between the connecting collar for the lift assist and the steering box there is a plastic sleeve that is on the shaft and around the metal strip for the lift assist. I find it odd, I cannot find it on anyone elses videos, I have looked at the bottom of the steering box and it is not from there. Maybe just a part they decided they no longer need to put on the Terrova's?
Great idea on how to handle the lift assist spring. A couple months after fixing mine it broke again when I hit a log. Very bad design. I'm not going to fix it again as it still steers just fine.
I use spring loaded claps on the shaft to hold the spring and just hook the collar on to keep the spring from retracting. There is tool you can buy to guy the spring back through the housing. I have spare housing to switch out. This happens to me at least one a year. It helps to tape the wires together and guide them back through the head.
mine broke and now the spring lift assist is messed up. I will need to replace the lift ugh. I am trying to find the part number for this sleeve. Mine was also a 2022, i am wondering how many ppl have 2022's that this has happened to.
My god...what a nightmare for a part that's $1.00. My Terrova Riptide (2023) just had this happen. It makes a really high-pitched squeal when ran at full throttle. I don't know if this is the reason, but I did notice it was cracked. Got two of these on order, just in case it breaks again (which is likely given how many people are having to replace this)....but, this puts a really bad taste in my mouth with Minn Kota. If they're going to use parts this fragile, I just assume they make the unit easy to repair. This is nauseating.... That said, I'm grateful to you for posting how you did this. And, my motor has only been on the water 5x's. I believe mine cracked when I hit a stump...going fairly slow (flipping speed). Guess, I got a nice little job in front of me. I need to shorten the shaft, as well, so I guess I'll tackle everything at one time. Thanks again for taking the time to show how you did this.👍
I agree, pretty ridiculous amount of work for such a small part. They should have designed it with a break away piece that could be easily replaced. Good luck your repair.
@@STEVEHADDOCK Thank you Steve. Picture me with my laptop pausing your video every 3sec trying to follow along for 5hrs when these parts arrive...lol. What a mess. I've never been bad with a screwdriver and can handle most repairs thrown at me. But, this is a mess. I can all but guarantee that this is the last Minn Kota I buy. Thanks again for the video, it will be my guide when these parts come in. 👍
I just spoke with Minnkota here in the U.S. and they are going to send me a link that I can post here and they said it should give you a place where you can type in your local post code and it will give you the closest place for you to buy parts. You could also possibly find a lot of the parts on Amazon if you can order from there.

@@cheechkehoe4039 no problem at all, glad it worked out for you.
Best video for this repair on RUclips. Thanks!
Glad it helped.
Could you have left mounted it on the boat and replaced that coller?
I don't see why not. As long as you can get to everything. Mine is mounted on a quick disconnect plate and that makes it much easier to take on and off.
Thanks to this video this fix only took around 2 hrs. I was able to go about it like I've done it before. Real good instructional video.
Glad it helped.
Great video. Just replaced my broken ring this past Saturday. Thank you for the video.
No problem. Glad it helped
Great video! Great instructions! Exactly what I was looking for to help me tackle this job.
No problem. Glad it helped.
Thanks, very helpful. I just replaced my ring as well.
No problem, glad it was helpful. I hope your's went well.
I need to do this exact replacement, thanks for making this video, I would not have attempted this without first watching your video.
No problem, hope it goes well for you.
Missed So much..........Kept looking at the Mustang !!!!!
LOL. Still lots to do on the Mustang but it's coming along. 1969 Shelby GT-350.

It ran great all summer. I think the ring you are referring to stayed in the top of the steering box while I replaced the collar.
Un saludo desde Asturias - España , un muyyyy buen video , muy ilustrativo y muy técnico
Hello back to Spain. Thank you for the positive comments and thanks for watching.

Possibly so. I don’t ever recall seeing that part either.

Thanks. Sorry to hear yours broke again. I agree, crappy engineering. Should have made it a split collar if it’s intended to be the breaking point.
Thank you so much for your vid. My shaft spring just came off I try to contact Minn kota tomm. Bc mine just couple months old. Thanks again

Hey bud, I was out of town last week. Did you get that part number you were looking for? I think it should be in my links on this video.

Mine is starting to get some sloppy steering and I checked mine same thing is broke . I’m guessing that the reason. Thanks for the info.
No problem. Yeah, the steering will get pretty sloppy if it’s broken.
Alguien me podría decir un lugar hay en EEUU donde comprar repuestos de minn kota , ya que aquí en España no se encuentran fácilmente , un saludo.
Here is a link for the manuals. Hopefully you can find the part numbers there.
