- "Is it an ice breaker?" In response to the most frequently asked question of my boat's bow, I explore the history of the Grand Junction Canal. By linking the features of the modern Pilot, we can lean about the original tunnel tugs.
Thanks for watching.

The industrial revolution era is a fascinating period. After all that hard work and expensive construction by the navigators, many from Ireland, the canals began to lose business to the newly constructed steam railways in the 19th century. Thanks for making this informative video about the highly successful and innovative period of British engineering history.
I agree! Appreciate your interaction.
Great video. Really enjoyed watching it. Pilot looks fabulous.
@@johnsparrow6345 Thank you
I'd like to see a lot more of Pilot herself, she's unique and I'd like to know about her and her systems.
Will do! Thank you for the suggestion.
A very interesting and informative video, loved every minute of it, thank you for taking the time to enlighten us, I will be watching again,.. xx
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you! xx
Love the Ram Bow and the SUper LAMP. SUPERB. - From Alaska
Much appreciated.
5:10, a brief respite from the constant RUclips beat-box music. Very nice visuals.
Thank you
Supongo que estás en los EEUU, tienes un hogar muy bonito y te deslizas por los canales como un cisne. Enhorabuena .
I love your analogy of gliding through the water like a swan! I'm in the UK - on the inland waterways.
Very educative, you have put lot of time to document all this , thank you! Greeting from Bucharest, maybe you will be here again :)
Mulțumesc! I'm happy to share what I have learnt.
Great photography and lots of info. Regards AJ
Much appreciated!
beautifully photographed
Much appreciated!
The design of the bow was very interesting that it was designed to push the trash and floating debris out of your tunnels. I think the whole design and color of your boat is very attractive and look forward to seeing much more of it. As others have suggested, I would love to see the inside of the boat to see the wonderful job you’ve done re-creating it. I also appreciate the history that you’ve been able to put into your Vlogs I know from watching foxes upload it takes many many hours of the research to be able to present it in such an interesting fashion. Keep up the good work look forward to more of your videos.
Appreciate your kind words & support.
You have a beautiful floating home!
Thank you!
Thank you for a great video . I really enjoyed that. I look forward to more . Stay safe.
Thank you!
Thank you very much for this beautiful and, above all, relaxing region - historically rich video. J.C. Moes.(72) Lelystad Netherlands.
Much appreciated!
what a wonderful video. we do not have canals over here in newzealand. i wish we did. i would have a boat like that. your country side is very similar to over here. i just subed to your channel. have you seen that bloke on cruising the cut. he has a boat like yours.👍👍👍👍
Yes, I'm a fan of David Johns! I visited NZ a few years ago, hired a campervan & agree about similarities in the landscape. Thanks for your support.
Can you share the inside of you 'now' home? That would be equally fascinating. Thank you for a beautiful serene presentation.
respect the privacy of people's homes
Thank you. I'm undertaking 'home improvements' and plan to show some parts when ready.
@@harryjones5260 Appreciate your supportive comment; I'm an intovert so won't expose myself.
@@tickover2894 I'm looking forward to that - not necessarily perfection, just enjoying your sharing☺💔💯💥👍
That is so interesting! Great vid!!
Thanks!
Very interesting, thank you.
Great vlogs thank you for sharing hope the channel grows great research
So kind - thank you.
A very interesting vlog and I have to say the design of Pilot is very interesting too. I do wonder how much difference the bow shape has on performance, drag, steering, wake, ability to hold a straight line in cross winds and interior volume of the boat. (It looks like there could be advantages).
Great thoughts! The shape of the bow means a long outer front deck - great for storage & sitting on at the expense of interior space! Pilot handles well in wind, on tidal rivers & is much more manouverable than my previous boat. In conclusion, I like it!!
really enjoyed that thank you and subscibed
Much appreciated!
Very nice boat!
Please show and talk about the engine, and a brief tour of the interior.
...old engine guy.
Will do soon!
That bow tho…
To be candid, tunnels make me claustrophobic. I would be craining my neck for the 'light at the end of the tunnel".
The light at the end does help!
