Julien can figure this out - for one thing, with his eye, he can adapt to fouling off those "caught looking" strikes. He's a really hard worker. Larnach has come back having made adjustments, Miranda too.
Once SEC pitchers discovered Julien couldn’t hit breaking pitches in college his batting average started going down. He raked fastballs but sliders and curveballs gave him problems.
Volpe on the Yankees is the traditional table setter rn.
I hope the Twins don't deal their prospects for more injured pitchers.
On Edouard Julien, I think there's a topic worth discussing here that I haven't seen brought up anywhere. In 2023, Julien ranked #1 in MLB in HR to Fly Ball Ratio at 31.4%(minimum 200 plate appearances). Shohei Ohtani ranked #2 at 31.2%, Aaron Judge #3 at 30.8%, Matt Olson #4 at 27.8%. This year, Julien's HR/FB ratio dropped to 17.9% which is still very high compared to the rest of MLB, but now he's gone from 23.9% of his battled balls being fly balls last year to 37.9% this year. And while it's true he's seeing fewer fastballs and more sliders and curveballs this year, he was still average to slightly above average on off-speed pitches last year. This year, the numbers say he's definitely struggling against off-speed.
So a little reckless speculation here; it almost seems to me based on these numbers that he may have been told to try to hit the ball in the air more, perhaps after recognizing his insane HR/FB ratio from last year, and he's just struggling to have success with that approach against off-speed. If that's the case, it seems like it might be a comfort thing with using the approach against off-speed in the strike zone that he could benefit to focus on at AAA.
Wonder what percentage of the strikeouts that Julian went down looking were actually balls that the ump missed. Dude still has a great eye.
Julien has had a lot of called third strikes on balls down the heart of the plate too.
I would love Lewis to prove he’s clutch yet again by hitting 3-4 homers in the series and helping the Twins win 2 of 3 in New York. Cleveland and KC play each other while the Twins are in New York so if they win the series it’s a huge step forward
He's not clutch he's made of glass.
David Festa is officially a top 100 prospect
Have to give Lewis time to get things going. He was 4-23 at St. Paul with 8 Ks so patience is needed.
What does it matter he will be back on the IL in short order.
Larnach & Miranda leading the way!
Completely fine with Julien going down to the minors and figuring some things out. He needs it and we need him to get right. Not sure what, if any, value they could squeeze out of Farmer but if he can start to get some things figured out himself and we can trade him for anything, that would be nice. Not expecting that though but I think that's probably gonna be the hope before they end up just DFA-ing him if he doesn't get it together and bringing back Julien. Especially if Eddie looks like he's back. Lots of out there thoughts for me but I definitely think Julien being sent down can be a positive for all.
Lopez pitches better when the weather warms up his last outing he was sweating up a storm in Houston and he looked his best this year.
You guys should talk about Vazquez... Idk but i think if there was a position player swap, i'm hoping it's Vazquez.
what about how Buck isnt hitting
Let’s go Royce
Yeah maybe he plays two games this time before missing the rest of the season.
Julien will hit breaking balls at some point so this is a great move to send him down to work on that. Buxton is just going to do what he can at this point doint know if he'll never be 100% healthy again but as long as Correa is healthy and his foot is at 100% I'm happy
If Miranda can't play 2nd why not put royce lewis at 2nd and keep Miranda at 3rd?
If I were the Twins, I would start trading from AAA outfielders with guys like Wallner, maybe even Kiriloff
If I had to start on prospect lists, Jenkins and Lee are untouchable
Rodriguez is borderline untouchable
Gonzalez is really cool and I like having a guy like that in our lower minors to come up in 2026 but he is tradable
Festa I would not trade
6 and lower id think would be on the table in some capacity but Luke K. Would be the closest to untouchable for me
When Julien gets back to normal they better have the guts to DFA Farmer.
Normal is injured Bro.
Why do I think another Yankees sweep is in the mix? Maybe because the Yankees owners actually put money into their pitching staff (and the entire team, for that matter). Maybe because they swept us a couple of weeks ago. I guess it's because their Team ERA is 2.78 and the Twins is 4.09 and they have the best W-L record in MLB. Is Royce Lewis the difference maker? Let's say he hits 3 grand slams. We, then, lose 15-12. By the way, I hope I'm wrong and we, at least, win the series. When it comes to the Yankees, though, my automatic tendency is to brace for the worst That way, it's not a gut punch and maybe a happy surprise.
let’s be a little more optimistic than that
@@ayewreckz7004 Okay, New York has some bad Karma coming it's way from last week. That may be something.
Maybe they are in a market where they can spend 300 million a year, 2.37 times more than the Twins
@@ayewreckz7004 10% chance twins win one game in this series..
yankees also have the 2 favorites for mvp in judge and soto..
Too bad Lewis can not play second with Miranda’s showing lately it would be nice to keep playing him on a regular basis. Put him in front of Lewis in the batting order and he will see even better pitches overtime and it could be a hell of a one two punch.
Hell no Lewis belongs at 3rd Miranda is an awful 3rd basemen
Brooks Lee is going to be the Twins 2b going forward. Don’t even think about trading Jenkins, Lee, E Rod or Festa. Julien and Kiriloff are trade bait for healthy solid pitchers. Miranda should be the full time DH with Lewis coming back.
As far as Julien, he couldn’t hit breaking balls at Auburn and he still can’t.
Go Twins beat the YNkees on tbs tonight
All the king's horses all the king's men couldn't put Royce Lewis back together again. Dude is never going to be healthy long enough to matter. Trade him while he can still walk.
Trade for luis robert and a starter
