So happy Ljubljana is finally being recognised as a great destination! The triple bridge used to be a bridge for cars that would drive around Preseren square (the one that is actually round)- it was designed by famous Slovenian architect Jože Plečnik. He also designed the arcades of the market and our national library. He is the most famous for designing the Prague castle. In regards to the statue that you were wondering about - it is of Slovenian poet, France Preseren. Next to him is his muse. He was in love with a lady above his social circle and was unhappy because of that - the opposite of the statue, you can see a statue of her, looking through one of the windows of the building. :)
Oh those are interesting bits we didnt know at the time, thanks! Hope Slovenia and Ljubljana get more exposure, amazing times were had on our few days... not long enough!
Hi thanks for visiting, the Euro was introduced in Slovenia in 2007, the Triple Bridge was built so that the cars an buses that used to drive on it(middle bridge) would not endanger pedestrians, so 2 additional bridges were built, Tivoli park was designed during the 4 year french Napoleonic rule when Napoleon defeated the armies of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, the French were the first to recognise the Slovenian language as an official language in Slovenia, the Austrians demanded the strict use of German. There is a legend that Jason was the founder of Ljubljana, and he and his Argonauts killed a dragon. The dragon is a symbol of the city of Ljubljana. According to local legends, when a virgin crosses the bridge, the dragons will wag their tails. Greetings from Slovenia!
wooow slovenci nisam znala da je ljubljana tak prekrasna.. ak mi ikad padne na pamet njemacka il irska zveknut cu se po glavi da se resetiram i selim se k vama. :)
You guys have totally sold me on Ljubljana!! For the record, I prefer the less organized and professional videos! This one was a very nice combo of both in my opinion!
Cool to see that "Zlatorog pivo" still exists. I used to drink it in 1979 when I have visited Yugoslavia (Mežica and Luče) with two of my friends who lived in Germany but were of Slovenian origin.
Oh I would love to go back. When we visited the currency was the Tollar. The city is famous for music. I remember somewhere the Busts of lots of famous composer's on one of the streets. Thanks for showing this city.
Woah. I think me (or maybe my coworker) served you the union and laško beer at the cafe by the river. What a coincidence. Loved your vlog. Hope you enjoyed your stay in ljubljana :)
I actually like it that you vary the format of the vlogs between organised and winging it. That's because whichever format you choose, the vlogs always include great camerawork and editing, music to match the mood of the moment and your wonderfully relaxed banter and humour. Plus an indefinable "X" factor that makes your vlogs just stand out. It's a magic and winning formula!
Wish we had a bit longer, but this was just a quick getaway from Zagreb while we had the chance - just arrived in Split though and so much more of Croatia to share.
I came across your videos as I have just recently moved abroad from home and am already homesick. We Slovenian truly don't know what we have back home untill we are away. Anyway sub'd as I want to see more of your traveling stories.
You guys missed Serbia, my home country! Hope you visit it as well, there are great places to discover! If you need any advice, let me know! I love watching your vlogs, so I formative and helpful! Are you coming back to Southeast Asia any time soon? Chiang Mai specifically? :)
We almost went to Belgrade about 3 times, but then couldnt find good bus or flights out to our next place, on our list for next year, dont worry'! No CM this year, but 6 weeks in Bali is on the cards :)
Your video making skills are amazing. Camera work, editing, choice of music, all of it. By the way, Slovenia is a small country but it has amazing variety of terrain. Alps, flat areas, sea side, great lakes, forests...all very close. You need to check all of it...
I was in Ljubljana last February for a few hours visit and loved it ! I visited the castle as well but everything including the viewing tower, jail and the virtual thing was included in the ticket :) it was the winter so it was freezing. Must be amazing in the summer! Your vlog made me definitely want to come back there :D
Daneger and Stacey I think it was definitely worth it. The view from top amazing looking down at the snow filled roofs ❤ And if I remember correctly it was a discounted ticket since I'm a student :) I'm from Sri Lanka so the weather was unbearable for me so I just stayed inside the bus station after visiting the castle to pass time until my bus. It was sad but atleast I saw the whole castle !
Right now they are running out of roads to renew in Ljubljana 😄. Really nice when you have such a small country but one that is more developed and more advanced like a big country.
Both types of tours are good organized and then go about doing exploring...you are getting famous someone recognized you guys from vlog Yah keep it up Great video
The city view is amazing up there. Random exploring brings about the discovery of gems ;) That's awesome you got to meet a subscriber am sure if we saw you guys we would be the type to frantically wave and behave like your best friends as you wondered who are these people lol .
Haha we actually meet a lot more subs than what we show on the channel, cant say we ever get used to it, but it's genuinely humbling to meet people and be in their 'selfies' when we just feel like ordinary folk :) Definitely say hey if you ever see us!
@@DanegerAndStacey yay back to the UK! So many nice places to visit here, if you need a car let me know as i can get discounted rates through my company 😋
That's so nice of you, thanks! We're actually doing a tour with Rabbies around Cornwall and Devon and loads more, so it's all arranged for us and we just capture the moments... a lot more stress free for us!
Thanks for your videos! They have been highly informative and enjoy the content! I stay addicted to your vlogs lol I know you are traveling in pairs, but as I am planning a solo Euro trip, what would you perceive as the best solo traveler friendly cities so far? Thanks Dan&Stace
Glad you're enjoying - thanks for following along. The best places for solo are probably the busier cities where there are lots of hostels and activities and adventures going on to meet people. Some where like Croatia or Greece is great, lots of people on tours etc, which is another good idea.
Good feedback, thank you! We sort of prefer it as well, but dont want people thinking we're just aimlessly filming ourselves because we think anyone cares about us vs the things we see... if that makes sense?
Daneger and Stacey and I agree that sometimes organized tours and such are good to know about. Some of us like to take those tours and will follow your advice! :-)
Oh ja and the funicular ride was on my lost material. Thanks for showing it! Did you see that sandwich house on the way up? That is the one I was talking about.
Daneger and Stacey 10:29 top left corner you see it a little bit. I actually drove by it once and got a real good close up shot. It just fascinated me, not sure why.
Amazing to see you guys enjoying the Balkans and lesser traveled destinations, but there is soso much more to see in this corner of Europe. If you're returning to Greece next summer you should visit the Ionian islands on the west coast, they have amazing landscapes, green pine forests and the bluest water in Europe. Albania, North Macedonia and Serbia also have so many treasures, as well as Romania (you only saw Bucharest, the least charming/interesting destination). Keep loving life!
Can't see everything in one go! We're doing our best to mix things up while we're here for the sun and will return next year (after Asia) to see a lot more. More of Greece, Albania and Macedonia are on the list :)
Of course, anywhere in Europe there is so much historical and cultural diversity that you need a good deal of time to explore even a small area. Might bump into you then! I have the same plan and starting a vlog channel soon too ^.^ greetings from Australia
4:28 Union is the real Ljubljana beer. The girl has a taste 😏 Laško is originally from another town, but they merged now. It's kinda like a proverb / saying thing going here (or well it used to), if you drink Laško, you're not a true Ljubljana citizen. ;) PS: Zlatorog (on Laško) would mean Golden Horn, in translation.
What was the % strength of the beers...? Sometimes beer can feel lighter, yet have a bigger kick... I think the "WInging it" style of vlog works for the drinking game... (cool = drink) :) Depending on the "Planned" activity, the drinking game may also work... ;) Bring on the food tour...!
Here is a KB for you did you know that collage is free for residents and students on student visas the country pays for it with tax money 100 English speaking courses. No charge to students besides living expenses nice country i think no student debt.

A long time ago! June 2005.

I love your channel, I was in Ljubljana 4 years ago and I have really good memories from there 😉
Thank you!! Glad you've visited as well and we could remind you how nice it was.

So cool meeting some of your viewers on your travels.
I was totally fascinated by that triangular house. I took pictures from the castle and when I drive by. Think they were almost all lost.
That olive flick at the end 😂😂

wow that is awesome, the meeting with a viewer :)) pizza looking delicious!
Been a long time since we've met a viewer! Mostly happens in Asia because how many vids we have from there, but always cool :)

Great video btw:) learned something new even if I am Ljubljančan since birth:)
Haha Birdman!
Very nice view!
Beautiful place! Did you guys try pumpkinseed oil?
Make sure you go around tin too
Slovenia is amazing! If you have time go to Pop's place best burgers ever.
We were told a lot about Pops actually but we did a food tour the day after this video and had no space for it haha
😊👍👏🇸🇮
I like the walking around part better. Does not look so organized and more impromptu. I don't like the organized stuff as much.
