The four dragons are NOT cast bronze. They are made of beaten copper sheet parts and riveted together. If you watch close up, you can spot the seams and rivets. They were made in Vienna, Austria at the very end of the 19th century.
Always love your videos❤️ Love how Katrina sometimes throws a Dutch word in her sentences, like aardappel pure 😄 You both are getting more Dutch every video 👍👍
@@nateandkatrinadotheworld I appreciate your statement. For 1st time, I got to know about this nation in detail and after getting my head around awhile, I gotta love this country. Anyway thank you for your reply. You've just earned a new subscriber. Have a great evening.
It's not underrated. It's just a small country with an impossible language. And it maybe off the track of the typical 'Eurotrips' . Although 'Italy', Venice, Triest, Ljubljana to Zagreb sounds pretty cool and promising..
i am from slovenia and i love people whos think slovenia is a nice place bc it is. u guys need to chek bled ptuj and more places like that in slovenia. love uuu
Seeing Katrina (and Nate) having a great time somewhere on this planet really makes me happy. I grew up during the cold war. I was told that under Sovjet occupation, Eastern Europe was a bad and dark place with poor people, no culture, gray buildings. As the Berlin wall disappeared and these countries opened up, I learned that we all were misinformed. Beautiful cities, friendly people, excellent food and lots of culture and history. (I know that since 1989 things have improved and before that it may not have been so nice as it is now, but still) So every time I see how beautiful it is in countries like Slovenia, a country that I am totaly unfamiliar with, I am pleasantly surprised. Ljubljana is beautiful, clean, safe, filled with history and friendly people. And I bet way cheaper than lets say Amsterdam or San Francisco. Today in the EU there were elections. Not everybody went and voted. We take our freedom and welfare for granted. Vlogs like these show us how grateful we should be. Thanks for that. Can't wait for the next one. And very soon you'll hit the 10k mark. It's about time too! Keep it up.
Slovenia, or previously Yugoslavia, was never under Soviet occupation nor part of the Warsaw Pact. We were part of the Non-Aligned Movement and had open borders both to the East and the West, which was a significant exception during the Cold War. :)
Yugoslavia was quite touristic before the war. Especially Croatia I know my sister went to the peninsula near the slovene border in the 80s. And even in Macedonia the Unesco heritage Lake Ohrid was a charter flight holiday destination.
When you are on the dragon bridge; legend has it, that dragons will wag their tails, when the good mother-in-law crosses the bridge - and so far we haven't detected a tail wag... Your pronunciation is just fine - for everyone else: Loo-blee-aa-nah. 5:30 It's a drinking fountain 9:12 The second bridge: this is (officially) the Butcher's Bridge and, for many, the Lovers' Bridge - 2 in 1 12:28 The middle bridge of the triple bridge was intended for traffic. But since the city center is closed to traffic, all three have the same purpose. And this little car is electric, and it is intended for the transport of the elderly, the disabled and tourists - for free! A little further on is the cobbler's bridge, which you missed. 15:57 The Ljubljana skyscraper was opened on February 21, 1933. At the time of its opening, it was the tallest building in Central Europe and, until World War II, the tallest building in the Balkans. 17:22 Slovenians call it "shmorn" (kaiserschmarrn - without Kaiser) which literally means "Emperor's Mess". Thanks for visiting! Greetings from Ljubljana. 🐉❤
Dragons is mostly Ljubljana like they are not known to be comonly used everywhere its mostly Ljubljana i dont know any other place tht would have tht there is probably tho.
The middle bridge used to be for cars, buses..Since the city is close for the traffic it's free for walking.
Ahhh Slovenia has been HIGH on my bucket list to visit for years - I can't wait to go! Loved watching this one so much❤
Thank you for watching! We were kind of mad at ourselves for not visiting Slovenia sooner. It’s a fantastic country! Hopefully you make it there soon!

9/10 comment. Happy vibes! ;-)
Slovenia is the most underrated country as it's less marketed despite having sublime beauty, rich history & culture and welcoming society.
Couldn’t agree more. We fell in love with this country!

Thansk! We are releasing our Bled video today! We had so much fun! ✌️
Just a factoid to drop, "The Skyscraper" was built in 1933 and was the 8th or 9th tallest building in Europe at the time. We just kept the name.

Thanks for following along with our travels, Jan. This city far exceeded our expectations and we also had great weather, which always helps. 🤗

This Dragon Bridge is actually a monument to all mothers-in-law 😜😛
🙊
well... basically it's their "litmus paper" because by the legend the dragons supposedly wag their tails if a true virgin is crossing the bridge 😁😉
No biggie. Just omit the J's and say 'LOOBLANA,' like the locals do. ;) And your music choice is 10/10.
