I love the opening music also! Will is great at picking the music selections. We will be gradually be adding in bits and pieces of our old life. It was so different, what we wanted as a couple in our 20s was almost polar opposite to what we are now, so much to share.
They let the camels the whole day running around so it's totally normal and there is no predators up there so no worries and you're an amazing family traveling with happiness I really love you guys

So jealous. Thank you for helping me re-live our Morocco Adventure through you. We were advised to stock up on beer, wine, and chorizo before going into Morocco. I traded beers for bodywork for the RV in Agadir, for a guide in Volubilis, and fresh fish in Mohammedia. As for the wine and chorizo, that was for us 😂. We also visited for the month of Ramadan. Unforgettable nightlife. ☺
I am not a big meat person, but I do miss chorizo! Love the trading system. I would like to visit during Ramadan at some point. Many caution against it, but for us that seems like such a authentic experience. Will you come back again? We definitely are.
Just discovered your vlogs, loved them. Regarding your question about the tied up animals, most likely they're owned by nomads.They either went to the mosque or town to run some errands. Now, they are tied up, as you correctly have guessed, so as not wonder away and actually it's a lot more humane than it looks. Their movement is limited but not completely hindered so they can graze and move around some.
If you have time and still in Morocco, I would recommend visiting Tafraout, it's in the Anti Atlas region, north east of Tiznit. You will love it!.

Yeah we can see that you're very honest which is so good , and while watching you're videos, I love you guys , you're honest understanding clever lovable kind family , and yeah sometimes we found you funny cause it's simply the culture shock thing , like for example the separate men and women in prayer and the camel thing, maybe you haven't studied Islam which is absolutely fine since you're non Muslims , but Islam is simply like that ... makes life very easy in many terms
and for camels , I bet you haven't got to deal with them before, maybe you don't know that they could be lost and staving to death, they could be injured in a road or fall from a hill..... that's why the owners let them eat quite free but in limits cause however thier smart as every other creature and have to be respected too but they still animals after all , animals that gives us milk / meat / leather... , sometimes do things without thinking of the worst results...

As a kid that trip I took with my parents across country by car camping out all the way was from Morristown New Jersey too San Fransisco and the car was a VW Bug
With all our stuff suitcases sleeping bags tent all packed on the roof with

Propped up with 2 two by fores over the back bumper . All cooking utencils
We're in the trunk that was in the front of the VWBug and our car was always parked facing the tent near the picnic table so in the morning you can easily retreve you stuff for preparing food

We have had this suggestion a lot, but we chose to go to the high Atlas to spend time in the Berber village instead. I guess we will have to make a return trip to Morocco, no complains here. We just love this country and its people.

Thank you so much. We love it here. We will be going to Merzouga, Fez and Chef before we head back to Europe. We are hiking the Camino in Spain in June so we really need to get back and get organized. I wish we could stay another 3 months. Our total time here will be 7/8 weeks.
Jessica Sueiro make sure you get the hot sand treatment in merzouga, and nearby Fes there is a mineral water treatment in Moulay Yacoub, and also mineral water source called Sidi Harazem. We are flying to Morocco in June from Washington DC non stop. I wanted to do the RV trip but I need some info about the logistics of it. Thank you guys for the videos, my family enjoyed it a lot.

Tourists get sand buried up to their neck in Merzouga to treat rheumatic issues and other diseases. You can google sand bath in Merzouga with medical assistance.

You guys made a decision few years ago to travel around the world. In my openion you made agreat decision Im sure this experience brought yiu closer. If you would've stayd in your normal life and jobs you would probably regret it.. life is short. Enjoy every single day of it.

There used to be Atlas Lions or ( Panthera Leo Leo ) the biggest species of lions in Africa , and lepards in Morocco but the French contributed to their extinction in Moroccan forests by massive hunting , the French army also burned the forests to prevent the Moroccan resistance from using them in ambushes during the war of colonisation but we still have coyotes , wolves of course and hyenas , but those predators are nightly creatures who avoid people , they don't attack camels and donkeys in broad daylight !

I would love to live this lifestyle. My kids would love it too. Their are a number of things that hold me back tho. The biggest one is money.
Money is definitely a tough issue, particularly when kids are in the mix. But the kids are the double edged sword. You want to go because of them to show then the value of travel but you don't go because of them because they depend on you to provide for them. I completely get it. Our one suggestion is to trust in yourself. We travel for our kids and so far our will to make this happen has not failed us. Call us lucky or good. No matter what, we are committed to this and we refuse to fail. If this is what you want and give it 100%, you will always find a way to succeed. Best of luck. We're rooting to you.

yeah camels get tied up basically so they don't wander too far. It's pretty cruel, if they fall over they can get seriously hurt, and sometimes it cuts into their legs. Most people in Morocco don't realise how bed of an idea that is, or that it's cruel. Most do it out of custom since it's such common practise

Not sure. The few that I watched did not have drone footage in it. If they did, they either got permission or they did not get caught. When I looked at getting a permit, they are not giving them out. Either way, I am really missing the drone right now.

in morocco you have a simple and natural life and access internet too everywhere. and you do not miss anything of the essential of the simple life which we miss in the Europe and North America, and especially of peace of security and what to eat when you want, except that you must change a bad idea, all Morocco is Amazigh Those who speak Moroccan (Arabic and other languages mixed with Amazigh) are just arabized to read the Koran of the Islamic religion dominant religion in the kingdom. You must visit the Moroccan Sahara especially the city of Dakhla. have a nice trip.
Their legs are hobbled. It is a very common practice not just in Morocco. I grew up in Yemen and it was common for the camels to be like that. Sometimes slightly different hobble methods. Thank you for sharing how your children are doing school.
I just googled it and watched a YT video on it. Ah, I understand. We are from the US originally so we are not very familiar with camels. Thanks for your help. We will share more school stuff as time goes on. We get asked about it so much.

Story of my life Carole! I think we would like each other. Ha!
Interesting conversation and thoughts. For several months of the year, my partner and I travel and work together and it is fabulous! We are talking through the realities of doing that full-time but it is tricky. I think I would miss my friends and my my little island community if I didn't spend at least 6 months at home. We also struggle to know what time of the year to travel - he loves the winter and would be happy to forgo the summer months whereas I love the balance... you can't beat cozy snow days but summer picnics are just as magical. Lots to consider. :)
Hi! All valid realities of travel. We miss friends in our home country, but we also miss our friends from all over the globe. Once you start WorldTowning longer periods of time you will make friends in the places you live and then you will miss those friends when you leave. Unfortunately, it goes with the lifestyle. However, the plus side is that you will have friends all over the globe. We still miss our friends back in Boston, but we also miss our friends in Los Angeles, Ecuador, France and many other places. However, doing part-time WTing is always an option. Lots of people do this because they want the stationary life and the travel one. I think it is a great combination and the best of both worlds for sure. I don't like winter either so I can relate to him, but I would love a cozy winter day say 3 times a year. Ha.

All over. Jessica is from Maine and I am from Florida.
Here’s a question for you, which 5 things you hate and 5 things you love during your time in Morocco so far? Be honest :-)
Great question. I will answer for me (This is Will). Jessica is asleep, so if she does not agree, she will comment in the morning. So far, the things we love are the following: 1) the people 2) the culture 3) the scenery 4) the food 5) the architecture 6) The places to park the Motor Home have been spectacular 7) The starry nights are amazing 8) The way that the rising sun make the mountainsides look. 8) The smile on the faces of every Moroccan that we meet when we share our appreciation your their country. I can think of 100 more, but I need to go to sleep. Things that we like the least 1) Most tourists do not adventure beyond the souks 2) The roads in the High Atlas. - They are not forgiving to a motorhome 3) The fact that I had an ear infection for the first two weeks while in Morocco (I got the ear infection while in Mexico - not Morocco's fault). That is my 5 minute answer. We will probably do a recap video when our time is up here. No matter what, we absolutely love it here. This is a special place.
For me, here goes my loves...
1. People. Kind, happy, honest and incredibly welcoming. They are eager to chat with tourist.
2. Food. Just plain, yum. The spices are amazing.
3. Culture. Needs no elaborations.
4. Terrain (mountains, beach, desert, etc). This country is stunning, truly stunning. The sun, the stars, every bit of it.
5. Colors, smells, sounds. Sensory overload in a good way.
6. Smiling faces. Everyone smiles and greets us.
7. Honesty of the people. I have never once felt like we were at risks of being robbed.
8. I could go on and on
Dislikes...
1. Roads in the mountains, but frankly we should not have been on some of the ones we were on with an RV. The other roads are much better than many countries we have visited.
2. Rude tourist, not Moroccos fault, but clearly visible. Sad to see.
3. I am thinking and thinking and thinking. I really cannot come up with anything else.
I’m glad you both Having a great time (I’m assuming the kids too!!)
here are some places that I think you should check out:
- Paradise valley in Agadir
- ouzoud falls in Azilal
- Town of Ifran (very calm, clean and grean place!)
- Oukaymeden ski resort (if you like snow that is!)
- Chefchaouan (the blue city)
- Sahara Desert (preferably from a hotair balloon if you can, the view is amazing at sunset/sunrise)
- Dakhla (if you like windsurfing and water sports )
And finally a hike to mount toubkal in the Atlas Mountains, you definitely need a guide and proper clothes/ footwear for this one but it should be easy enough if it hasnt been snowing!
I’m not how sure how RV friendly those places are so plan plan plan ;-)
Hope that gives you some ideas.
Those camels are happy to roam the open spaces even with leggs tied up to reduce their walking distance ... it's better than being restricted to a small space in a farm like is the case in the western world.
Even with their leggs restricted these camels can cover a good distance.... But if they're left not tied up their owner will have a problem finding them.
I see nothing cruel in this..... I'm more concerned for cattle, sheep and chicken farms all over the world

hhhhhh " spying on the neighbours " you should just go to the closet Moroccan house that you find and it the give you food and even they invite you to lunch for free, and i mean house not restorant or touristic house :)
Do you know what disturbs me? Western battery chicken farms.
Chicken does seem like a tempting option with burning of your beans - but I personally love beans, I eat them at least 3 times a week but they make you gassy :( ahhh camper life!!!
I love beans also. I miss black beans! I can't seem to find them in Europe. Exactly, ah camper life, good with the bad. Ha.

Maybe, we are together 24 hours a day. Ha
While it's obviously true that a really slow (due to having the legs tied together) animal won't be able to wander too far in a day, they'd still be able to wander many kilometers which would be far enough for them to be well out of sight of the owner. There has to be more to it than that surely..
I was thinking it might also be a traffic related thing honestly. If people have ever driven by a deer or something on the side of a road, animals often panic and run out on the road if they get scared which is often how they end up getting hit, they'll be eating bushes or whatever at the side of the road, get scared by a vehicle and run right out into traffic. I suppose they couldn't really suddenly panic and start sprinting around like crazy if you tied their legs together? Everything is sort of in slow motion for them..
If it is indeed just a matter of limiting their "range" I just don't get how the owner finds them. They can still wander all day long and be tens of kilometers in any direction at the end of the day. :/
We will hopefully learn all about this over the weekend. We are going to the Sand Dunes on camels this weekend. So pumped!
A good way to keep your camel from turning into Joe Camel, buying a leather jacket and run away from home.
But seriously, have you seen a feedlot in Texas? Now that is cruel.
We did learn that they need to keep them from running away and after our desert experience and our camino leaving I understand it more.

Well, just remember that what makes uncomfortable or you don’t like in your culture, means that it’s the same for other people’s culture. U were in Morocco not in the US, and people do that to their animals not walk away and get lost in the desert. I am from south Morocco and same times people do that, but not always. I saw. Lot of your videos, there is good things and also many things that I didn’t like, especially we you look down to people. Good luck
We totally understand, but at first it is jarring to us. To see something you are not used to does that, but we do what we do in the name of learning. So much learning occurs in this travel world.
