I don't think Ralsei is evil per-say, but he's definitely hiding things and has ulterior motives. I kinda read it as him being more dedicated to the game's story, to his role in the story, and ultimately to the player, than he actually is to any of the individuals in it, despite what a loyal people-pleaser he is. He wants to make people happy and do what he's "supposed to", and is more concerned with filling that role and keeping the game/story flowing (roughly) how it's "supposed to" rather than the actual free will or feelings of any of the people involved, even if he does still like/care about them. This clashes most distinctly with Kris, who is making active efforts to rebel against the player and how the game/story is trying to force them along a certain set of actions, and it's probably gonna cause some significant conflict later.
I think that Ralsei being mostly commited to his role in the story makes a lot of sense, although I don't really know about his dedication to the player. If anything I feel like his secret conversations with Kris could be him conspiring against the player in some way. I should stress though that I don't think this makes Ralsei evil. With stuff like the Snowgrave route being a thing I think the game makes it very clear that like with Underatale, the player isn't exactly a saint. (Spoilers below for Undertale if you're the one person living under a rock who doesn't know the game's story.)
Since Toby Fox has been pretty clear that he doesn't want Deltarune to cover exactly the same ground as Undertale, I'm not sure if the player will be the main villain, keeping the whole world hostage as they are in Undertale. Which I think is also backed up by the fact that unlike in Undertale, the player doesn't have full control of what happens in the world. But I think there's definitely still going to be something which at the very least explicitly frames the player as a very dangerous figure.
@@gguy3600 I see him being dedicated to the player as an extension of his dedication to the story. After all, who is this story and this game for, truly? And even though I don't think he WANTS to be, and I doubt he views it this way, this fundamentally puts him in conflict with Kris, who is attempting to rebel against the path set out for them (being a player character). I don't think Ralsei dislikes Kris at all, in fact he really wants them to like him, but he doesn't really get the inherent cognitive dissonance and ethically-questionable nature of just going along with Kris being controlled by a foreign consciousness. He wants to have it both ways and have everyone like him and make everyone happy, because thats his concept of his purpose, without recognizing that sometimes making one person happy is mutually exclusive with doing so for someone else. By being complicit with Kris being controlled, he is ultimately choosing to side with the player over Kris' own wants and feelings. Bringing the story to fruition is the ultimate good, and something he assumes will make everybody happy and everything turn out ok (both encapsulated in the idea of 'serving the Lightners[/the player]'), so he chooses to gloss over things like truth, introspection, and free will, since those can complicate matters, potentially making people upset and/or de-railing the narrative. I also think this potentially derives from his personal idea of fulfillment being carrying out an assigned purpose, which he might not get doesn't automatically transfer to everyone else.
...This is even more of a wild guess, but I think his unseen conversations with Kris both ending on 'so that's why' might be him trying to explain/justify why he's seemingly fine with the player using Kris as a puppet and all of them collectively being shepherded through a pre-constructed narrative, but not wanting to do it in front of the player, so as not to break the illusion/immersion of the game's story and world by openly acknowledging the situation with them present.
At least that's how I interpret it. The rest of the game could def prove me totally wrong tho.

PS: Susie says the same thing regardless of your choices in her cutscene because when it comes to Susie "Your choices dont matter" she dont play by your rules >:3
I hope Ralsei isnt the main villain, even if his name is an anagram for Asriel, and even if he is a prince of darkness, and even if he is slowly pulling Darkner from other dark worlds into his kingdom, and even if ...
Well, I just hope its one big jape where we are made to suspect Ralsei with subtle context clues until maybe near the final chapters Ralsei is called into question or totally mistrusted and it turns out the real villain was someone else all along which clears him. Something like that.

It's so funny to find out the game has different dialogue when you made the Full Duck robot, instead of any other combinations! There;s even a different attack xD

ALSO, Wes you are so damn lucky that you didn't choose "I really don't care" for the choice with Ralsei because it would have skipped the whole cutscene! I feel like even the Save Data fans would have torn into you for skipping the adorable scene with Noelle and Susie. Jason, you voiced and acted out the awkwardness and 'General Vibe' with Susie during that scene so well! I freaking love the voice and facial expressions you do for her

Anyone ever think about how in chapter 1 on the computer a rainbow winged boss from a game that never saw the light of day was mentioned? What if the robot splashed with color was the abandoned boss with rainbow wings converted in the dark world? Remember, the dark world converted the graphics and programs into living darkners.
What if it wasnt just a reference to the secret final boss of Undertale's pacifist route? Especially since the second line said the game never saw the light of day?
I think the ch 2 dark world is based off of the _librarby’s_ computers, not all of the townspeoples’ computers
And I also think the “never saw the light of day” part is there because that’s in Undertale and this is Deltarune, where so many things are different that the god of hyperdeath would never appear cuz azzy didn’t go through what he did and doesn’t have access to souls (I assume he’s not a murderer lmao). I just think azzy (and maybe Kris too) made cool versions of himself (/themselves) like all kids do, and it coincidentally (ignoring the whole it’s a game thing) is like the GoH

I just got to the part about the robot splashed with color, my theory is that’s mettaton (since he’s a ghost still in DR, presumably) cuz Spamton neo looks a bit like him. Alphys helped design/bring his idea to life in UT so ofc it’d look different without her
@@SketchUT Dont forget, Susie, Kris, and other Lightners search histories and data were also a part if that dark world because the internet was involved. If it was only limited to the librarby then the info from Kris, Susie, Cattie, Jockington, and Asriel wouldnt be there.

I feel like Ralsai won’t be a villain because that would be too obvious of a twist. I feel like the bigger twist is that he’s genuinely a good dude and he’s just forced into these situations that make him look evil
