Phoenix actually *has* used a Cat as an important element to solving a case, twice at least. Two different dogs are also important elements to two different cases.
Heck, I think an *Elephant* was involved in a case once!
I don't think a Horse, Snake, or fishbowl Newt or similar creature was ever in a case though
