First heard decades ago, on original release. Absolutely brilliant, surprising, energising, emotional, exciting - and I still think that whenever I hear it now, 40 years later, which is quite often as I have copies and it also plays on my 'head radio' quite frequently as well as being on pretty mcuh ever mixtape I've made since then. A genuinely remarkble, clever and creative record, and it disappoints me that no-one involved really benefitted from it. And this isn't just misplaced sentiment for 'when I was young' either - I was in my thirties and a serious jazz and blues fan.

God bless Google & RUclips!! This song completely passed my by in the 80s - and I was supposedly 'into' this sort of stuff. Then, a couple of years ago, a mate in work gave me the 'Edge of the 80s' CD, but it wasn't until last week that I put disc 2 in my car CD player. When this track came on I thought WTF??!! I am now completely hooked on it and have to listen to it at least once during every car journey.

O M G, this is exactly the same story as me. I was 24 when this came out and going clubbing every weekend, but for some reason this one escaped me. I,m guessing I must have heard it once or twice ,but never enough for it to sink in. Like you I discovered it again a few years ago on Edge of the 80s CD. I literally could not believe how good it is and that it was like a new song to me. Amazing !!

When Morrissey was a guest reviewer in Mojo magazine for the new single releases back in '84 this was the only record he had anything positive to say about, describing it as 'moderately listenable'. Well that's as good a compliment as you're ever gonna get from Mozza.

This band had some set of horns. For an eighties band surrounded by other bands and their cold synths they cooked hot instead -- with a great jazz groove with wonderful arrangements. They deserved better. They were exciting, different and tight. Overlapping vocals that were brilliant. Call and response. If remember the lp jacket credits there were many members who made this happen. The extended remix is even hotter than this.

The album doesn't - can't - compete, but I'd recommend a listen to any Soul Train as you might get something I don't.
