    I have probably 20 Elander mags that came from Alexander Arms with my 2 Alexander Arms Grendels. Not one of those magazines works with any 6.5G ammo, including Alexander Arms factory ammo. DuraMag for 6.5G & 7.62x39.
    I'm buying x39 by the case manufactured by Norma, Belom and another company out of Eastern Europe which I don't recall at the moment. It's about fifty5 ¢ per round, average. All boxer primed brass cases.
    The only steel case I have bought the past 4 years is 5.7 and x39 soft point subsonics.
    Always enjoy your videos.
    Keep up the good work 💪🏻

    300 blackout is why I got started reloading. I got my first AR in Blackout right as everything went to shit for ammo back around 2011/12. I wasn't going to pay over a buck a round for plinking ammo so I started rolling my own. Now I load several calibers and love it.

    All those are the same exact reasons I went with 300 blackout small rifle primers, straight wall cases easier to reload from myself.

    .300 is ONLY Good if at least 8.5" to be just at the threshold of stretching and tearing velocity w 110s, or if you go quite with subs. Also, 5.56 and 7.62 really belong in 11.5" to get the velocity they need and not be too blasty to wield effectively

    I’m not currently set up to reload, so take my comment with that in mind. I can see the advantages of the .300 BLK where it pertains to cost as a reloader. I will say, while you can use a wide variety of .308 diameter bullets in the .300 Blackout, most will not perform as well from that cartridge, as you would get from a .310 bullet from a 7.62x39 simply because the majority of .310 bullets are made to perform from the velocity of the 7.62x39 and most .308 bullets are designed for at least .308 Winchester velocity. For cheaper shooting as a reloader I see the advantage for the .300 blackout. As someone that has had a .300 blackout, and currently owns a Zastava M70 7.62x39 I prefer the 7.62x39. PSA’s saber blade black tip is loaded with Hornady projectiles that test very well, and it sells for $10.99 a box. I haven’t seen any .300 Blackout at that cost that performs as well. PSA’s saber blades in the .300 blackout don’t perform nearly as well in the tests I’ve seen. If you go with higher end factory ammo, there’s really no difference other than the 150ish fps edge to the 7.62x39 and the obvious platform differences. I do like both and think both are good, I still think the 7.62x39 is slightly better for someone that does not reload. If I were reloading, I would likely give the edge to the .300 blackout for all of the reasons you gave.

    I'm an AK guy. But long before I ventured over to the Kalash side of the force I was an AR and 300 Blk type 'o guy. In a choice between the two? Yeah I pick x39. In fact, I'll take x39 over 300 just about every time. So much so I have AR's that take AK mags, like the KS47. I also don't have to worry about a 300 getting accidentally mixed into my mag if I shoot 556 & 300 on the regular. AR KaBooms are no joke. Then there are the debacle 300 Blk AK's which are hard to properly gas even with their short gas tubes. Ugh... Another thing to note is x39 brass can be made from 6.5 Grendel brass. So you can get into x39 with a SRP.
    FWIW 6.5 Grendel has a case taper nearly identical to that of the 308. So Grendel actually does quite well in a straight body mag like the 308 enjoys. AT one point CSSpecs was putting out straight body Grendel mags for the VEPRs

      @@Matteo_ I haven’t ventured into the arc, I figure it and Grendel are so close there’s really not a lot for me to explore there and I’m heavily invested in Grendel at this point. I don’t have anything 6mm so no bullet sharing.

    • @Matteo_
      @Matteo_ Месяц назад

      @@thegundungeon I was also deeply invested in Grendel. 10 rifles in total. However, losing the cheap Russian ammo has hurt it overall. Swapping over has been relatively easy. .243” bullets are a bit cheaper. Not to mention the BCs with some of those options are nice. Plus the fact that 6 ARC is SAAMI approved and Hornady backed has the benefit of more available data for both gas and bolt gun loadings.

  • @pinballrick6031
    @pinballrick6031 Месяц назад

    Not being a reloader and not using 300 Blackout, maybe my opinion doesn't carry much weight, but I know I can still get 7.62x39 for $0.52 a round or less. Target Sports has brass 124 gr for $0.50, but you know that. Maybe only fifteen to twenty cents cheaper than the lowest 300 blackout, but that twenty cents adds up. I guess if the cost difference is minimal and availability is a factor then 300 blackout would be the way to go for a reloader, but you still have to feed that Yugo SKS.

    LOL... so people are starting to discover HT coat. Ok... so I missed out on all the cheap SKS rifles but it would work well for a 'soviet 300' Just a matter of developing a cast heavy bullet load that functions in an SKS. 30 caliber is 30 caliber and 220 cast and coated slugs are just that. They don't care what rifle.
