One thing I’ve realized as a wash n go natural, is that the hair needs time to get used to being in it’s coils state. It’s kinda like when you part your hair a certain way all the time and your hair naturally goes into the part without effort. I found that my curls get more defined the more I do my wash n gos.
On the flip side: After wearing WNGs for a period of time I find it hard to “remove” the coils for a different, smoother style (eg. a twistout). I have to basically do a blowout. THEN it takes a few washes for the coils to return! I never liked the idea of hair “training” but that’s kinda what happens, lol.
Lots of great points! One common theme is that people need to be realistic about what their hair texture can and can’t do. I’m growing my hair out from a TWA but it used to be as long as yours is now and even though my texture is tighter than yours I still did WNGs at that length. Mine won’t ever look like yours AND THAT’S OKAY. Accepting that one fact will save time, money and a lot of frustration. Thanks for sharing.
Perception of curls and not embracing shrinkage can frustrate many when trying to perfect a wash n go. We gotta learn to love what grows out of our head and what does/doesn’t work for us
These videos are so helpful!! I’m doing my first ever wash and go and I don’t own a hooded dryer my hair is at the bottom of the bra strap and the thought of defusing all that hair already got me tired plus my toddler is not going to let me ! I didn’t think air drying would get great results but now because of this video that’s the way I’m going. I’m using curl love as my leave in and uncle funkys as my gel I’ll wrap in a microfiber towel for the first 1hr and air dry the rest. Thank you so much your videos have been stress reducing for sure
Great point concerning the sun and hair ! I've noticed over the past couple of years that my hair feels more dry during very hot sunny days than during fall/rainy days. Learning to work with the humid weather instead of trying to fight it, I've come to realise that I wearing my hair out is easier during fall than summer.
U subscribed to your channel yesterday and I am binging on your videos. You are so informative. You put others to shame. I can’t believe you don’t have more subscribers.
I do wash and goes pretty much all the time. All different product combinations. For tighter curls products with slip are crucial imo. I like to do them on wet hair, I would definitely say start there. Good luck all 😊
I love wash and gos but every year I feel like I cause myself more tangles then they’re worth. I am going to try this tips out when the weather warms up, hopefully I can do this style more!
Great info as always! When will your new wash and go series begin? I am strictly a wash and go person and I can't wait to see the product combinations that will provide definition and moisture.
I just started watching you❤ I forget which title caught my eye, but when I went on your channel... I'm like wth she been. I love it!!! New subbie here🖐
A Love 4 Me, I see you have Hairizon hair gel on your shelve behind you. I bought the oil, gel, leave-in, and aloe water. I’ve tried the gel a couple of times. Once in shower and second outside shower on damp hair. Both times the same flaky result. By the way... I use shampoo every time I wash. Do you have a tutorial on this gel already or can you please do one in the near future? I spent a lot of cash for these products and I can’t figure out what’s up. The only thing I really love from this line is the aloe water. It’s a miracle in a bottle. Thanks for the tips!
That's a big puppy. Lol.....Thanks for the video, really good tips. Can't wait to see your wash and go series since that is my go to style. When my hair got healthier my curl pattern got better. I actually thought I had lost my curl pattern with texturizers, hair coloring, blow dryers and curling irons, but I was fortunate and with patience, product trial and error and natural hair RUclipsrs, I have achieved a better curl definition. So I say thank you!
She's so adorable! Question: so you no longer do the LOC method prior to applying the gel? I could be wrong but I remember a video where you said you always do that before applying gel but here you said you use leave in and gel only. And if you no longer use oil, is there any particular reason why?
Sorry about that, yes I still do the LOC method. I apply oil to my hair before the leave-in. I don't consider it an additional product in the sense of build up, but that definitely is not obvious to everyone else who isn't in my brain 😆
I’m a wash n go girl and on my channel I talk about the need for a cast especially for the winter (as a protective style ). I notice you don’t do the cast. For my fine hair I need it and I can’t do any heat at all. I dry my hair overnight with banding. Would you like to collab on my winter wash n go Challege?😊. That would be fun. Let me know. My email is in my contacts in the description. Thanks for promoting wash n goes. I’ve been trying to prove we can use it as a protective style and retain length for a while. 👍🏽
I wanna try doing wash and gos because I cut off a few inches off my hair of split ends a couple weeks ago so its way healthier and the curls get defined with pretty much anything.I'm just afraid I'll get breakage from wash and gos because I have type 4 hair.
A Love 4 Me thanks for replying! I'll try a wash and go soon. Oh and can you try the new Schwarzkopf Smooth and Shine Camellia Oil and Shea Butter Curl Defining Gel, with the brown label
Anne Cuthers : I agree until I watched Dickey from hairrules....he said, we are natural and not to be afraid of water....I wash/wet my hair 2-3 times a week now and my hair is thriving!! I believe it is the water....less shedding less breakage and my scalp loves the moisture. Just my testimony 💁🏽♀️💁🏽♀️

Very true. Good advice.
So true!! Hair training.

Very true. Different hair texture, different outcome. All is beautiful when you do YOU! Healthy hair is key.

Very informative video! When you're sitting under the dryer are you using high heat to dry? Thx
Good question. No, my dry has three settings and I use the middle setting which says warm.
They may NOT be doing a deep conditioner. And may not be using a leave in. I agree with you, it is not the gel causing dryness.
Have u use Paul Mitchell the conditioner with your gels??
Yes. I find it to be a great leave-in with good slip and moisture that works well under most gels.
I looooove how you set this video up
very good advice!

Don't be sacred! Maybe start with a couple a month and see how your hair behaves.
