I'm a smaller guy who always has to roll 40+ pounds out of my weight class, so these are extremely helpful, especially the sweep videos. Thank you very much
Great advice. I use these concepts myself as a smaller person grappling much larger people. It's great to see smaller people teaching and offering advice from that perspective. Keep it up! :)
Thank you for sharing this. I'm very weak and don't like being held down and made to feel powerless. I will try and use this technique next time I am held down.
Just discovered this girl recently. She is a really good instructor. It is a pleasure to listen to her explain things. Nice work. BJJ needs more women.
Great tip!! I feel the same way....prevention! Preventing the pass, the pin, WAY BEFORE they get their grips or settle their weight down. That change in mindset is huge and I wish I learned that years ago.
Omg thank you so much there was a missing piece to the puzzle of how I can quickly recover into deep half guard and from that go under and take the persons back , it's a high percentage underrated thing but for the longest time I didn't understand why it was not working this will defiantly sharpen up my back game and make jujitsu more fun.
Omg... Yess ... Someone who understands my pain.. im a small girl and the smallest girl in my gym so side control or passing my guards is scary.. it becomes survival mood. Thanks Im gonna try it out
thank you stephan i love this set of videos! it´s hard for lower level guys like me to beat larger opponents..even if they are on the same level or lower..i mean i just got my purple belt in luta livre..and just now im starting to feel a can get some advantage out of the technique i´ve developed..i´ve studied a lot of small guys and some of them seemed to have the same problem when they started..these tips have helped improve my game a lot!!! OSU
As a small white belt I actually joke everyone flattens me like a pancake. This side lying idea although simple has never occurred to me at all! I will aim to implement it. Thank you
that's so true when I was doing an isolated roll with bigger blue belt guys (i'm a white belt), I felt it a lot easier to escape side control than the people my own size
Thank you, useful information , def gonna try this out, i always get pinned by my fellow bigger male opponents, love following your video's and great teaching style
Hooks? I was thinking this too but I think if you don't allow your opponent too much space and get at least one hook in the right place, then they'd have to be The Flash to take your back (plus I'm guessing you don't get to Emily's level without knowing what you're doing)?
It's a shame you guys are leaving out vital details out, like the underhook she has. It's almost impossible to turn into your opponent without an underhook, and even harder when opponent is crossfacing your big time. And there are so many scenarios you could end up in sidecontrol bottom, without an underhook, if your opponent passes your guard using underhook on yourself. While it's not really wrong to say one should turn to the side, it's really more about HOW to turn to the side and how you can use it to escape. That video does not explain it really well, sorry.
@sleepykid156 Actually what she explains is very basic stuff for Judokas. I know it's because BJJ guys don't usually practice pins, but there are literally tons of other Judo vids explaining this very principle. Like whenever I want clarification on what's typically a BJJ tech or trick, I know I can most likely find that info somewhere on the ytube. Still, a very cool video. I like the way her pony tail bounces.
So your body's(not body but your mind must always be aware of your opponents body) always facing your opponent...Kinda. Its like trying to sparry frontaly a side attack....
I feel like this video can not only help BJJ and submission wrestling but also for Judokas as well. Big part of Judo is pinning your opponent on the ground and I've had many Judo sessions where I got pinned and didn't know what to do :/
Very sport orientated NOT FOR REAL WORLD SELF DEFENCE. the attacker would pin your right arm and not so easily allow you to bring your right arm under his throat. This is the problem with BJJ , they do not tell viewers the difference between a sport and a REAL martial Art. No doubt this WOULD Work in competition as there are RULES against grabbing , biting , small joint locks , etc.
Sorry, BJJ is the deciding factor in any fight which goes to the ground. The BJJ practitioner can take it to the ground. This is where you lose. And no they won't pin your arm, they haven't trained side-control top.
She is a great teacher. She does an excellent job of explaining things.

Thank you!! You guys help me more than people I train with sometimes
Just finshed week 2 of class. Stephens vids are great as a beginner to get even more insight . Thanks so much.
I really like these videos. They explain concepts and strategies instead of just some move.
Wow! Awesome tips and instruction. THANK YOU for posting and sharing this. This will make a huge difference for me.

Thank you, useful information , def gonna try this out, i always get pinned by my fellow bigger male opponents, love following your video's and great teaching style
I needed this!!! Thank you! !!
How do you keep them from going to attack your back when you present your side?
Hooks? I was thinking this too but I think if you don't allow your opponent too much space and get at least one hook in the right place, then they'd have to be The Flash to take your back (plus I'm guessing you don't get to Emily's level without knowing what you're doing)?
Emily is a bad ass for sure. Thanks for the feedback. Man JJ is sooooo complex.
Cheers mate
Could somebody explain what "frame" actually means?
I didnt know the bald guy from brazzers knew jjt
You mean johnny sins
Tedd cuizon I think he meant Johnny Kage
@MachoMaster putting both hands on a point on ur opponents body eg. hip or shoulder and pushing
True,true,true. So true.

+Christian da Silva, of course there are no details, they are trying to sell their videos. :P
+Christian da Silva I can do it without an underhook
Just activate your bicep in their shoulder
OMG thank you so much! I always get smashed by big dudes in side control
I got tapped 6 times from purples and I hace to improve my side mount escapes and every escape.
Is this Danaher’s brother ?

yeah and its even better if you can be facing him and have your oponent not facing you !

Gracie Barra always focuses on self defense before sport. And it's defense, not defence. You might want to do some real training before assuming.
Great, but how does this help her cooking?
You guys need to actually show the tecnique to learn please... Thanks
@MachoMaster ...........Goto google, search "frame in jiu jitsu" , the first search result has a good picture on the bottom....
@qubiq3 Not likely on a grand scale.
How does watching help your cooking??
You're turning into him. Not away. Last I remembered, your back was behind you.
I think this vid could have been shorter then 7 min...maybe its just me though
but, he can take your back..
i dont think its a good thing to do...
ivfindbit easy vs a biggerbguy staying on the ground letting them wer them selfbout and me not use and power
Learn in less time? That's good. The older I get, the less time I have :(

Defence is the British spelling. Defense is the US spelling.
She almost dies at 6:00.
