As a Vietnamese person, it’s never occurred to me that others would need to be taught how to put together their bowl of pho. Martina is out here doing the lords work spreading the good word of Vietnamese food
It’s your friendly neighbourhood Caucasian lady 👩🏻🦳 enjoying all the delicious pho-king food the world has to offer 💕
I knew a person back in day in HS, who had pho for the first time (my mom packed it to go like in the video), he ate only the Pho noodles and gave the broth to his dog!
I was like wtflip! When he told me the next day.
He learned eventually.
He said his dog enjoyed it...said he never seen him eat something so fast. 🤣
@@huyenly7603 one lucky dog, it's good for his health too 🤣
@Cree
Not sure about 'healthy' healthy but healthy for the soul! 🤣
Pho is healthy to my soul....man, I want some pho. Or hu tieu...maybe bun bo hue or bun rieu or 🍜! Lol, I'm just in the mood for soup noodles!
Same, but I'm glad foreigners know how to enjoy our food now!!
I wish this channel was given more credit.. Not only are you an editing queen but you've got a magnetic personality. I love everything you do 💜
Oh well. Geez. Thank you! 👩🏻🦳💕
I agree 💯
Go check out her king.kogi channel too
Given more credit where? Do people you know bad mouth it? Set them straight.
I didn't join 10 yrs ago because it's *not* good. Who is saying it isn't? lol.

I’m so pho king happy you see you again 😂
Pun genius thank you for your contribution.

Good one. 👍🏽😂
There's a restaurant named Pho King near Seattle. I haven't been there but the name is cool.
@@AnonymousOregonian There are some in Atlanta as well! The pho is good but it's always super busy so the atmosphere kinda sucks🤷♀️
1. I LOVE how Martina managed to recruit her mum!
2. This was the best sponsor ad ever. I actually wanted to watch it
3. I love the new concept! It's interesting, cute and funny. Martina has been let loose!!
4. I'm hungry now but it's 1:30am 😭
Yes yes yes!
Did you notice the beautifully placed merch too?

Business Martina is such a girlboss! Where has she bean all my life? She's the perfect blend of steaming hot and cool beans. Sorry I just had to venti about it.
*claps happily*
I loaf this so much.
perhaps maybe even just a boss ;)

So you’re aware, “Pho” is obviously the beef noodle soup but “Com” means rice! So they’re basically just advertising their menu in the name :)
Woooowwwwww 🤯 never put that together! Thanks for sharing this 🙇🏼♀️

We have a "Pho Kim Long" in Las Vegas

Vietnamese food is the best!
In vietnam, people would name their stores depending on the specialty of the restaurant and the street number. In this case it’s pho and com (rice in Viet). And the number 99 which is probably their store number.
Shoutout to all my Sydney Vietnamese aussies on here!
That’s SO COOL I didn’t know! Thanks for sharing
I've heard the store number is the menu number of their signature item. Not sure if it's true, though...
I think introverts would really appreciate guides like this on how to eat and order/ pronounce things. I still get nervous to order at new places
So glad to hear it’s not just me!
"that would be a bit of a faux pas" AHHH you missed a pun opportunity.

Editing is top notch as usual, missed watching your videos 😭
Glad you enjoyed it, I love me some editing. Got a Dim Sum video up next!
@@eatyourkimchi Ooh, can't wait for the dim sum!

As a Viet-Canadian, I think you did the pho justice which was nice to see! 👩🏻🍳👌🏻*chefs kiss* It was a nice crash course for people who may not know why/how things are done. I actually really liked that you separated the solids and the liquids at the end to re-store it for leftovers. It typically gets stored together by then and ends up soggy because the noodles absorb all the broth (not in the best way). Also welcome back :)
Hey Martina! I’m so happy to see you do a video on Pho. I’m Vietnamese-American and it’s one of my favorite Vietnamese dishes to eat. I appreciate that you took the time + effort to explain not only the dish itself, but also the special components of the dish. When foodies or food personalities do Pho, they tend to gloss over it and just eat/say it’s delicious without explaining what makes it so popular. I also appreciated that you took the time to show people how to properly pronounce it (you tried so you get a 🌟). Overall, I love the message you’re sending out to people in this video. If you love to eat a culture’s dish, do yourself a favor and learn WHY you love it. Every cultures’ dish has a story, history, and significance to it. We’re all stewards when it comes to part-taking in a culture’s dish and sharing it with others. So long story short - GREAT JOB, MARTINA! 😉✨👌🏼
There's a bombastic Pho restaurant in my state called Un-Pho-Gettable. I can't resist restaurants that have pun names! They give you a metric ton of food, plus an entire plateful of that sweet basil! If the pandemic ever stops, I'm definitely going there again. It's great to see that you're still able to support local restaurants in your area and have amazing food despite the limitations, Martina! Thanks for sharing this with us. ❤
I just woke up and was drinking coffee and was enjoying Martina talk about coffee so much that it took me an embarrassingly long time to realize that was a sponsorship pitch
Really amazing to see you Martina! ;)
👋🏻 hi!! I think I’m back~ had such a great time filming and making characters and skits! 😊
@@eatyourkimchi I’ve always loved the skits and characters. Looking forward to seeing more of Business Martina 😆👍
What a delight to see your face pop up in my feed; this made my day. You’ve got such a talent for making videos that make people smile. I’m chronically ill and have learned to focus on small joys everyday. Sometimes a bowl of Pho is just what the doctor ordered.
Your Mum is stinking adorable and I’m so glad you’ve got each other to lean on during (arguably) the crappiest year in history. On the bright side patios are opening tomorrow🥳 (although I’m not in any rush to be around tons of people downtown). Thanks for helping me build a ladder today cuz I really needed it. 🌈❤️
If u dont want ur raw beef to over cook, I would recommend not putting in the cooking broth when your heating it, but put the beef into ur bowl before you dump toppings in, after you've poured the broth in. Its scolding so it'll cook quickly
Thank you for filming in a home that looks like people live there! 10/10 times I want to see people in spaces that don't look staged for the video. It's boring and makes people feel inadequate. Normal people in normal spaces are so much more interesting. (and relatable af!)
Hi Martina! Thank you for featuring Vietnamese food! It doesn't get enough of the hype that it deserves!! The way that I prepare take out phở is a little different. First I would set the broth and brisket into a pot and let it get to a rolling boil (You want it HAWT). While that is cooking I would microwave the noodles for about 30-60 secs. This prevent the noodles from being overcooked and soggy. Then I would add the raw beef slices into the bowl with the noodles and then pour the boiling soup over the noodles and raw beef. Because the beef slices are so thin it would be cooked instantly without it being too overdone.
Thanks for this awesome detailed comment! I’m taking notes

Love that you're back in videos. Extra love that it's about food I grew up with and that you're so good about giving accurate context behind it. This made my day

I've been using Trade for over a year and I love it! I really appreciate how you can change the frequency of deliveries at any time.
I'm going to go order some pho now. Yummmm
Yay!! Love the foodie content!
The first and only time I had pho, I was in Greeley, Colorado! They also served raw jalapeno peppers as a side. It was a major pain day, so I enjoyed mine for a minute as it came and made it so spicy the other people I was with couldn't handle it, lol. Oops.
I also had mine with brisket, tendon, and tripe. I ordered the wrong one by mistake. I will say, though, that even though I had never had any of this before, I LOVED IT. Still crave pho. It had been almost 3 years!
There have been so many changes to the channel's content since started watching 10 years ago, but change is good and I still enjoy watching!
Thank you for BITING your pho! 👏🏼 I hate how mukbangers slurp entire strands of pho noodles like ramen. That is NOT customary to Vietnamese culture. Pho noodles are meant to be bitten off and chewed, not swallowed whole.
👩🏻🦳 Ah yes, one of the differences between mukbangers shoveling down food, and between foodies like me is that I try to taste the food and learn about the culture because I admire the cuisine 💕
Something very specific, but I forgot how much I missed/enjoyed listening to how Martina describes food and flavors ! I feel like I'm a foodie myself, but hearing her talk so passionately about the food makes me want to appreciate food even more ! I'm so heckin excited to try all kinds of new food when I can finally leave for Japan this year >< 💖
Great video, love the thumbnail too! Your mom’s part was adorable ❤️

Ahhh! As a Vietnamese fan since the very beginning I am so honored and happy to be watching this video! Love u PHOever!!!!!!
AHHHH love the cameo from your mum! Also whenever you post your mini adventures on Instagram I get super jealous because I love in Toronto but I haven’t left the house much 😭
Glad to see you back ❤️ Pho is definitely its own beast sometimes. Thanks for taking the time to discuss it ☺️
Hi Martina! I'm Vietnamese and this is how my mom orders pho take out. She asks for the tai (thin beef) raw and the noodles raw as well. She'll cook the noodles separately like pasta in boiling water, but no salt (pho noodles cook pretty fast). She'll assemble like this: hot cooked noodles, cooked beef/tendon/etc., raw beef, and pour over hot broth. The broth will cook the raw beef perfectly so it won't get over cooked. The hot broth will warm up the other meat too. Ugh, so good!
I’m so happy you’re back, love you 💖
I eat pho every other week because it's my dad's favorite food and he won't stop making it a few times a month since quarantine started lol. I just wanted to say Martina did such a great job of not only demonstrating but appreciating the meal. I was amazed at how much Martina knew since I've always felt like pho is one of those food a lot of people have eaten but know very little about.
- Internationally, you can usually get pho at any time of day but in Vietnam, it is usually just a breakfast meal. Some pho places would even close at 12-1 pm there.
- The broth becoming like jelly in the fridge is 100% how you can tell authentic pho from the flavoring ones. Before the lockdown, dad and I actually bought broth from all of the pho places near me to see if any of them would become jelly in the fridge.
- There's also chicken pho which is lighter in flavor but just as good. Dad actually makes a combination of beef and chicken cuz he has high cholesterol and can't eat a lot of beef. It actually makes it easier to eat since he makes a lot and we eat it for like a week every morning.
- If you want to not overcook the meat, put it into the bowl instead of directly into the broth. Aim for the meat when you pour the broth into your bowl and keep the meat submerge for a bit. The broth is hot enough to cook the meat without overcooking.
Also your pronunciation of pho at the end was basically perfect Martina!!! Missed you so much and so glad to see a video from you!
Business Martina has the best headphone! Also, the double, "I LOVE taking quizzes" cracked me up because I was like, "yup, me too, why are we all like this?" xD
Vietnamese-American here, also a first-time commenter (but long, long time lurker!) and i just wanna say: THANK U FOR THE REP!! it makes me so happy to see my favorite channels promote food from my culture ;w;
I personally like to pour the hoisin sauce & sriracha directly into my bowl, but that's mostly because i'm too lazy to bother dipping 🤣 i also like to eat pho with culantro (i had to look up the name lmao, aka "ngò gai"). I also have to concur with other people, as someone who's grown up eating pho, i never really thought that people unfamiliar with VN food would need a how-to construct a pho bowl. now that i see it all laid out, i realize pho is a bit more complicated than i thought!!
btw, love the kogi merch cameos. definitely gonna check out the online store! 😉
Hi Martina, I hope you are feeling well. Congrats on the coffee sponsorship I will be sure to check it out. I'm sending you all my love and good vibes!!!
GRRL...you are ridiculously talented at making me actually be invested in what is essentially an ad for coffee, of which I don't even drink, but now maybe I should...I must be missing out on something right? Keep building that ladder and love, love, love your video content. It's a present every time I see one!!!! Happy unbirthday to me!
Haha 😂 turning tea drinkers to coffee~ well I’m glad you found it funny, if you’re going to sit through an ad, I might as well put effort into making it enjoyable even for all those non-coffee drinkers
Yay!!! I missed you, Martina!! Saw the Facebook post and rushed here.
As a Vietnamese person growing up eating pho for my entire life, I really enjoyed your video! Thank you for introducing pho to everyone and telling everyone to not be scared to eat it because it’s definitely so GOOD 😍😍😍 My mum showed me that exact same method to cook up our left over pho but what I personally like is to put the noodles and rare beef in a seperate bowl and then pour the hot broth into it. So as you’re eating it’s still cooking! I just prefer this way because I like the raw and slightly undercooked flavour 🥰🥰🥰 Still an amazing video, thank you for demonstrating how to cook delivery pho hehe. I’m also really happy to see you back uploading videos AHHH I MISSED YOU 😍😍😍
The day this came out, I was actually having pho for dinner... I actually don't care for the basil so I always leave those out. I always add a BUNCH of bean sprouts because YUM!!!!! I have a friend who leaves out the lime... I like how customizable it is... and the fact that you call it magic soup makes me so happy because that's what I call it because I eat it every time I start to get a cold and it makes me feel better.
The background music is just perfect
I grew up on the border of Mississauga/Etobicoke and it gives me great joy every time you mention a place that I also frequent/loved growing up!
That’s me! I’m in Etobicoke but the Sauga is my closest city. It’s been amazing to see how it’s grown, I literally used to drive through the “farm” land part of it with my family when I was a kid, and now it’s all paved and filled out
are we just going to glaze over how awesome faux pas would’ve been as a pho pun 😔
Wasn't it?
Omg so glad you guys are back . You guys are my comfort food 🥰
Phò is one of my absolute favourites! I like the one that has the rare steak, brisket, tendon, tripe, and beef balls. I eat each bite dipped into chili crisp and hoisin sauce ☺️
I’m feeling your energy, Martina! 🥰 So happy to have you and your puns back.

I ordered take-out pho for Father's Day and came back to reference this video to make sure I got the most out of my pho. It was delicious! Thank you Martina!
Clearly can see where the talent charm and creatively of this channel comes from. Looking forward to enjoying more from you and King Kogi Martina!!!
This is ABSOLUTELY the content I signed up for. You're killin it, Martina!
Edited to add: I also *used* to save the sprig of Thai basil in water (water prop.) UNTIL I got one that must not have been washed properly and I checked on it a few days later to find it infested with whiteflies. I am a plant collector and did *not* need this kind of negativity around my other plants, so I swiftly tossed it.
I love this. Really feels like your old content Martina. Really well made, so glad to have you back 🙌
Pronouncing it well!!! The proper way pho is written has accents on them, but the main accent is the "?" above the o, which gives the word a questioning tonation.
Love how coffee made its way into a video on pho Lovin' it Martina!
Omg how you pronounced pho at the end was spot-on! Also, much like with ramen, don't let the pho noodles stay in the broth for too long before eating it, guys! They start to become mushy and they break apart, which is a no-go! Sidenote: I LOOOVEEE putting extra soup with my pho (drown those noodles muahahaha)
Totally took me a second to realize we were avoiding demonetization with Coldamort and such.
Edit: spelling
I legit thought it was because Canada is cold and thought maybe the snow was still blocking them in 🤣
I didn't get this reference. Can someone explain?
@@sweetysavvy she's referring to the Pandemic (Covid19) . A lot of restaurants cannot serve dine in customers.

I AM GOING TO CRY, I love you- and missed you🥺🥺💛💛💛
I don't know how Martina can make a "how to eat Pho" so entertaining. Watching your videos is like catching up with an old friend who you can meet in your pyjamas with no judgement
It's always great to see you again, Martina! Like a visit from a friend you never get to see enough! What I find interesting is that over the last two days, S&M videos started popping up in my feed again--almost as though the algorithm was trying to let me know, "new video's a-comin'!" Thanks for the informative and FUN (Hi, Martina's Mom!) video! Keep 'em coming!
Spotted that CoCo Curry spoon! Now I've got a craving for both curry and pho! Awesome video, Martina! 💜
1:08 PHO COM 99 IS ACTUALLY SO FIRE!! I love their food so much, they have such delicious pho and rice dishes as the name implies (com = rice) the fish is fried beautifully the pho is fragrant I used to love coming here with my family before the pandemic and the staff are so nice!! The staff are all Viet but super friendly!
We missed you so much, Martina. We always want more from you!
Everything is perfect you just need to put the raw beef on top and pour the hot broth over to cook the meat as it’s very thin!
I lived in Vietnam for several months a few years ago and I ate so much pho! I get it here in the states delivered much the same way as Martina did but I assemble it differently. I put the noodles and raw beef in the bowl with the onions. Then I boil the broth and warm up the brisket (and tendon!) in it then pour it over the beef and noodles slowly. I use a lot more herbs and I always get extra bean sprouts since I love them so much. I like spice so I add the sriracha to the broth and keep chilis on the side to take bites of while you’re eating for some added heat. But I do dip my beef into the hoisin like she did. So good to get to see you back Martina! Hope the cookbook is going well!
me before watching the video: "Eh I've never been a huge fan of pho"
me after watching the video: "Is there pho delivery near me...."
Fantastic pronunciation of phở Martina, especially the last one 👏 What I like to do with my delivery phở is using the microwave to warm up the noodles (30 sec to 1 min, along with the bean sprouts if you like them cooked). That way the noodles will be nice and hot without being overly soggy. My dad swears by putting the broth on a rolling boil, then pour it directly on the raw beef and onions. Garnish with basil and enjoy 🤤
How much sauce you put in depends on where you are and what you like (a Northern Vietnamese will have a heart attack if you put hoisin sauce and bean sprouts in your Northern phở). As a Southerner, I like mine with hoisin sauce, lime juice and a dash of fish sauce (preferably from my own bottles at home ‘cause they never give you enough sauce in that tiny container)
I love you Martina! Keep doing what you're doing, you're amazing!
I've seen how they prepare phó, they put the noodles in the bowl, the meats, veg and raw meat on top, then they ladel over the hot soup broth which'll cook the raw beef and heat the noods. Then add the final toppings of the basil and the bean sprouts.

✨ YAY I’M WATCHING THIS WHILE WEARING MY KING KOGI SWEATER ✨
I’m replying while in my King Kogi sweater and baseball cap 🧢 hahaha 🤣
I love the raw beef too! I heat up half the broth, half the noodles with half of the meats, except the raw beef. Once it's all in the bowl, I add the raw beef, which slightly cooks from the heat of the broth but remains soft. The pho place I go to gives a very generous amount of food in one order, so I always have extra for the next day. The other thing I like to order are the summer rolls with the hoisin/peanut sauce. Such a refreshing treat!
I can't get over how adorable your mum is.

Phò is delicious!!!
Also, an easy way to remember how to pronounce it, is like the French word for fire
Feu.
Vietnam takes alot of influence from France, as they used to be a French colony, it actually used to be called French-Indochina.
Also also, you definitely got Northern Style Phò and Spring Rolls. My all time favourite style!
If you ever get a chance to try Bun Bo Hue, do it. Spicy beef noodle soup 🍜
The spring roll you had looks different, I've never seen a spikey roll like that👀
i always heat my broth, pour into a bowl, add the sides in and if i have raw beef add that at the end. I LOVE PHOOOOO
