This comment is so underrated.
🤣 Good one.
Now that's a reference if I've ever heard one!

"Nobody quits, every joke hits!" Lol Casper Van Dien is awesome.

Yet they whiffed "Honest Trailers does the writing, mobile infantry does the... fighting?"
You do realize CVD did not actually say that.
@@earlleeruhf3130He actually did record those lines for this Honest Trailer. He is a great sport about the Starship Troopers franchise and seems to genuinely like contributing towards it.

They need to do a Helldiver 2 mash-up
Lets serve them Bugs some Liber-TEA!!!

I hear Casper Van Deen wants to appear in that game. I hope they get him in.

bkayser05 and Cowboy Bebop, A Goofy Movie.
and harry potter IIRC.
It's not the first time that Screen Junkies has had Casper Van Dien appear in a video. They got Casper to play Cap in their Roast of Captain America video.

Truth has been told!
"Evil Space bugs are on the attack because they hate our freedom!"
That killed me!
Wish I could give a double thumbs up for Casper's cameo. He was awesome!
Maybe they're Communist bugs...
; )
@@abercrombieblovs2042 They are actually meant to be the "the perfect communist society"
Technically, the war starts because of a misunderstanding, not innate hostility on either side.
In the book, the bugs are stand-ins for Communists. Specifically, a species in which communism is not only compatible, but perfectly optimal for. Of course, the natural consequence is that their way of life is incompatible with humans.
There’s no real jingoism on that front, just two powerful species and a finite number of planets and resources. Indeed, a major thread is that the Federation wants to understand the bugs and end the war.
This, but unironically.
"Honest Trailers does the writing. Mobile Infantry does the dying."
Epic line!!!
Hura!!
Oorah!
mobile Infantry does the laughing! FTFY
Hooah!
Gotta be honest, this movie still looks good even now.
100 percent. it was nominated for an oscar for best visual effects in 1998. back when the oscars still meant something lol. and the effects still hold up

There was a lot of goo in the 90’s. Prime goo time
You just can't!
when a 23 year old movie has (way) better CGI than most 2020 productions
well they need the money today for diverse casting. and its a devils circle, -diverse casting, a turd of a script. - that means no money comes in, less money for teh next movie.
There were 2020 movies?
@@MasterBlaster220 No, they don't want to spend the money, because then they won't have it. So instead they hire cut-rate foreign actors -- usually bad ones -- to play American characters with laughably bad American accents. Then they stash the massive profits in off-shore tax havens while claiming the movie cost half a billion dollars to make -- "cgi!" -- and promote -- "China!" -- even though they spend next to nothing. And the corporate executives and stockholders cheer and cheer and cheer.
This movies cgi still will hold up in 2040
@@NZobservatory Seriously?! Are you from that industry? I mean, the problem is, why are thry destroying franchises then if its just about money. Look how the viewerships-number fall down. Its a mess.
I love how at the end of the movie, half of the troops consists of kids. No matter how much new tech the humans are pumping out and how much troops they have, the bugs are still winning.
This movie is kinda underrated, or maybe I'm feeling nostalgic.
It is VERY underrated.
I heard that a book is pretty good too. Less action than in a movie though
@@screenjunkies The sequels were direct to DVD type thing right?

jajajajjaajjaaj "Carmen...who is just the WORST" hell yeah
Dudeeee have you seen the deleted scenes? If you thought Carmen was terrible it makes her even worse.
@@josephgrizzly9634 She was fine looking though. And in James Bond, she played a rocket scientist named Christmas. It's too bad she only comes once a year.
Remember in the movie how Carmen's mentor got killed because their ships were too close together and the bugs were using artillery to blast em out of the sky
Then like five minutes later Carmen did the exact same move which got her stranded on the planet... Not a great plan
“Mobile Infantry made me the man I am today” *looks at missing body parts*
I remember seeing that. Years later when I was no longer an infant, it made me laugh.
Arguably the best bit in the whole movie
USMC made me the reasonable / responsible adult I am today - unlike the children in Portland who have said they'd refuse to defend the US regardless of reason. There are those who accept the risks of protecting the freedoms of strangers.
"Soapy privates soaped-up privates"- most underappreciated line of the video.

Dougie Houser even did an infomercial showing them where to shoot after the disaster at Big K.
Yeah...that was more like a case of "technology marches on" and "in the event of war it breaks into a mad dash."
Yup, usually Honest Trailers does so well with being accurate but they really dropped the ball there. Not the only incorrect conclusion in this trailer either.
Yo i was JUST about to say this exact thing

Ever heard of the Kurgan?
This is a parody movie
of every futuristic battle movies
It's a satire on every militaristic regime in history.
Exactly how it was for me. When it came out and I was a teenager, it was a great action film. I watched it 5-6 times and still didn't get the hidden messages. Even at some point I thought it was a film supporting colonialism. Then when AVGN made a video talking about it, I went back and watched it carefully, not just cheering the action scenes. So when I watched it 35+ years old, it felt totally different. It's actually a very smart satire movie.
I almost had the exact same experience. For me though, the realization came from college. Yet, it wasn't all too different a realization
not trying to be a douche, but what *did* you think scenes like the ending ("it's afraid!" - everyone cheers) were meant to convey?!
It's not smart at all. He didn't even read the book it's based on.
I think I could tell it was satire, but didn't really get what it was satire of
@Spartan 506 it's a satire of militarism, nationalism, and fascism. The fact that everyone is talking about their good old days in the infantry, while they are missing limbs
That the lesson of the movie is that violence solves everything. While at the same time the violence in the movie solves nothing
"The enemy cannot push a button if you disable his hand!" Priceless scene

I dunno, I'm actually surprised they only made an honest trailer for it just now but this is definitely one of my all time favorites. We even discussed this in our Biology of Science Fiction class.
“COME ON YOU APES YOU WANT TO LIVE FOREVER!?”
