This was at the grammy's and apparently the producers were a little worried about the reaction a "mixed" couple might get so Linda made a point of kissing Aaron coz Linda don't take no sh*t. It shows Linda at her absolute best and if you love a choir, and i suspect you do, you really would enjoy the whole album. Thanks for this one, Britt. Loved it. ❤

Linda was their special guest once around the time she released Cry Like A Rainstorm...and she was so humble to be performing with them. ✌
Aaron and Linda weren't a couple, just close friends who respected each other's enormous talents. They just did not care what anyone thought about a Black man and a White woman singing a love duet, dancing together, and hugging and kissing at the end. This was genuine affection between two great performers.

They were actually asked to "sell it" and they were both kind of apprehensive about it. Apparently Aaron Neville's wife, who was in the audience, told him they really should sell it. Such a beautiful performance, they certainly snared me. I am sure that these two artists do actually love each other deeply, just not in the way the song sounds.

Favorite Linda story; she decided to do a Latin music album, the label said it would ruin her career, she then went on to make the album and all it did was become the biggest selling Latin music album in American history. Take that label LOL. The Neville Bros. had some really good music as well. Linda and Aaron were good friends that's all.
Aaron has a band with his brothers "The Neville Brothers" and they are my favorite band of all time. Their whole Yellow Moon album is perfection. And yes he is football player muscle-y. I was backstage at 1 show & walked past Aaron who was wearing a sleeveless shirt and I can tell you that man was BUFF. Like his arms were bigger around than my thighs!

Linda would retrain her voice when she wanted to tackle a new genre because the demands on the voice are different but she had no formal training as an opera singer.
Aaron Neville has the voice of an angel. He and his brothers are Louisiana natives. Some of my favorite songs of his: "Everybody Plays the Fool" "Louisiana 1927" (about the Great Mississippi flood that killed nearly a million people in LA and MS) "Angola Bound" (Angola is a notorious Louisiana prison) "Somewhere, Somebody" "All My Life" (another duet with Linda) "Warm Your Heart" "I Bid You Goodnight" And with his brothers: "Tell It Like It Is" and "Bird on a Wire" and "Brother John / Iko Iko / Jambalaya" (a medley)

Aaron Neville has a wonderful voice. One of my favorite songs by him is "Everybody Plays the Fool". Linda Ronstadt has done everything from country to pop to rock to opera. Check out "Poor Wandering One" from THE PIRATES OF PENZANCE. She also put out an album in Spanish, celebrating her father's Mexican heritage. Her last name is German and goes back to a male ancestor who came to North America from Germany several generations back. Her voice is so beautiful and she sang songs from nearly every genre, which really makes my heart break to know how her health has deteriorated. Now she is unable to sing at all. Patsy Cline will always be my favorite female singer, but Linda is definitely my next fav. We are so fortunate to have her recordings.
Neville is a physical beast, but his voice is so gentle and welcoming. Linda was almost out of her comfort range trying to accommodate his voice and its ridiculous upper register. the guy is a freak of nature, Linda was amazing, was a great performance. a good one to show in this day and age.
Wow, they dated for 3 years! I never knew that! I remember seeing their performance on the Grammys, SO wonderful!! And back then, it interracial dating was not approved. Good for them!!
So good you found Aaron Neville. What a voice! His albums with his brothers, Yellow Moon and Brother Blood are masterpieces. Linda adored him, as a fellow artist, and was thrilled to be able to sing with him. She does not give anything else away in her autobiography though.
This was immediately 🔥❤️🔥🔥 with radio and retail back in the day! It was a touching and convincing performance. An ideal pairing, vocally, as it turned out.
I saw Aaron Neville years ago with his family's band The Neville Brothers. Aaron came out with a cut off sleeves jean jacket, his arms as big as my legs, like he could rip someones head off, then he opened his mouth and sang like a song bird. It was the most bizarre juxtaposition I've ever seen, haha
Great reaction to stunning duet performance by two of the most extraordinary singers of the all time! That said I believe it would be worth your time to ALSO react to the official music video of this song. In it you can really hear how outstanding these two vocalists are. I truly enjoy watching your reaction videos and I look forward to seeing more.
Aaron Neville and his brother had a bad "The Neville Brothers" and a solo career. Great Music, his song 'Tell It Like It Is' is a masterpiece, or Hercules (killer song/his voice so good). Linda admired his voice so much, and they were close friends. Give him and The Neville Brothers a listen. New Orleans Soul/Funk/Magic.
Magnificent Duet that I haven't head in a while. Linda Ronstadt is one of the best ever. Aaron Neville actually recorded a Country Album a few years after this. Would like to see you react to some of the songs on the 2 Old Standards album's she did with Nelson Riddle Orchestra in the very early 80's. She revived allot of great stuff from the 20's to the 40's. Both albums were extremely successful. She even did a tour with Nelson Riddle and had a couple of TV specials. Speaking of Duet's, how about reacting to Michael Martin Murphy and Holly Dunn from 1987 "A Face In The Crowd" It was nominated for a Grammy and was a consensus Top 5 Country Hit. Then there is Lari White and Travis Tritt "Helping Me Get Over You" from 1997, that they wrote together. The video has over 30 million views on RUclips. Lari was my girl in the 90's. Lari has a couple other Duet's one with a guy names Esra Tuaolo "Another Broken Heart" that will bowl you over, and another with Toby Keith "Only God Could Stop Me Loving You". Holly Dunn also has a duet with Kenny Rogers called "Maybe". Another underrated Duet is Kelly Willis and Kevin Welch with a song they wrote together called "That'll Be Me" from 1993. There is a video of them performing it live here on RUclips, taken from the old American Music Shop series on TNN. (Nashville Network). A few reaction channels have featured "Helping Me Get Over You" before, but not very many. Should be allot more. All the others I mentioned I have yet to find anyone that reacted to them.
When they recorded this song while they knew of each other, they hadn't met yet. With the airplay of this hit they had to play road dates together and special guest appearances at each others shows. They became good friends and their families became friends. That's all.
Willie Nelson said that there are two types of men in this world. The ones who are in love with Linda Ronstadt and the ones who don’t know her.

Linda is in the top 3 voices of all time.. Fight me.
When they finished recording this in the studio, Aaron said to Linda “I’ll see you at the Grammys”. He knew it was going to be a winner
I met all of the Neville Brothers when I worked at Tower Records in the French Quarter in the 90's. Jim
Their performance of this song is definitely swoon worthy.
Greatest duet of all time!
Loved their friendship. Amazing duet.
Aaron is THAT dude . his voice is one of a kind
So good you found Aaron Neville. What a voice! His albums with his brothers, Yellow Moon and Brother Blood are masterpieces. Linda adored him, as a fellow artist, and was thrilled to be able to sing with him. She does not give anything else away in her autobiography though.
Yellow Moon is one of my all-time favorites
Aaron Neville is part of a New Orleans family of musicians that have been performing for decades.
two voices from heaven
I remember that performance. It was magical even in black and white with mono sound.
This was our wedding song. Married now for 33 years.
All my life is another great song they did together..... It's worth watching
Its just that good!
They had rummers flying for sure. Extraordinary performance. Vulnerability in song.
Arron belongs to a whole family of singers from NOLA. I think this was from the Oscars this song was from American Tale, I think.
Aaron Neville has the voice of an angel.
They are friends. Great duet. I just love this song.
When they recorded this song while they knew of each other, they hadn't met yet. With the airplay of this hit they had to play road dates together and special guest appearances at each others shows. They became good friends and their families became friends. That's all.
